Disclaimer: I don't own the Naruto-verse...obviously.
The sun peaked over the horizon, as the city of Konohagakure began it morning rituals. Civilians began to open their shops, started their treks toward their places of employment, or shooed their children out the door so they could get to school on time.
The air was thick with anticipation and excitement, it floated through the streets like a fog, and seeped into the cracks of the roads.
Today was the day the new batch of shinobi hopefuls began their first day at the Academy. As such, most of the children were being escorted by their parents, or guardians on this special day.
Naruto Uzumaki was not immune to this escort, though the two Anbu escorting him were invisible to the public at large. Not Naruto however. He could feel them watching, guarding, and in the case of the Anbu known as Grasshopper, resenting as well.
As Naruto approached the gate of the Academy he felt his unseen escort slow, and finally stop, as he passed into the grounds themselves. Both Anbu exuded a sense of relief, each for different reasons.
'The academy is heavy,' Naruto thought, 'pompous even'. It was an institution of learning, of growth, and it had helped to build many a great shinobi. The Academy was important, and it knew it.
The air seemed to swirl around Naruto, carrying with it the same feelings of excitement and anticipation that had been present in increasing quantities all week. It was coming from the children, Naruto noticed. 'I should have realized,' Naruto thought disparagingly, 'Of course they'd be excited'.
A sense of authority and care made itself know to Naruto, as a ninja in typical Chūnin garb entered the courtyard from the Academy's front door.
"Class 1!" shouted the Chūnin, "All new students are to follow me to class 3-b immediately!". A small scruffy looking girl near the Chūnin looked up at him, "Immedulululu?" she queried. The Chūnin looked down at the girl, the scar across his nose giving him an air of danger, "Now" he clarified/growled.
"Eeeek!" squeaked the girl, as the song of her soul gained a sour note of shame, and fear.
Naruto smiled, 'Maybe this place might be more interesting then I had thought'.
Author note:
Well here it is. The first, second chapter of any story I've written.
