Paul stands on a PokéCenter balcony and breathes. People like to believe he doesn't take breaks, doesn't do anything but train and push and scowl. They're right, usually, only these people — whoever they are — seem to have trouble remembering that a person can do more than one thing. Can have time for more than one thing. Can like more than one thing.

Like books. He's always been a bit of a book-guy, since there was never any other human to speak with when Reggie was out of the house. Even now, he weighs his already massive bag down with texts and pamphlets and journals and notes. It's why he always checks into a Center right away, and why he hates carrying the bag for longer than he has to.

Nevertheless.

The only time he's felt as free with himself as he usually does when he's reading is here and now: alone in the night. Sure, he and his team are used to being nocturnal, since there are fewer people to bother him then, but that's different. There is much planning and many strategies that go into those trainings, but being here now is about balance.
