I curled up around him, and fell into a deep sleep. When we woke up I took Laddie to the underground lake, and we played in the water for an hour before we decided to go to the boardwalk. We were having the time of our lives until Laddie grabbed my arm, and I saw a woman walk towards us.

I put Laddie behind me, and growled at her. "Go away star me, and Cassie are having fun." I growled louder at Laddie's words, and I now knew my next target. "So your the bitch that wasn't watching Laddie I bet you didn't know that because of your stupidity he got attacked by surfers twice, and I was the one to save him both times." I said, and she looked scared. 'Good maybe those boys did pass on my warnings after all, and since she is about to piss her pants lets up this a notch.'

I used my empathic powers, and I sent her fear. She gasped, and you could see that she was trying to fight the foreign emotions though she was losing. She took off running towards three of the four guys, and when I saw them I growled. I put Laddie on my back, and took off running for the trees. They followed like I knew they would, but I didn't expect to get hit from the side. I pulled Laddie to my chest, and took the full force of hitting the ground. I kept Laddie safe by wrapping around him, and holding him tight to my chest. When we stopped rolling I let him go, and set up slowly due to the amount of pain I'm in. I moved to get up, and I cried out in pain.

Laddie came up to me, and I reached for him. Star grabbed him, and pulled him away as his brothers walked towards me. "Cassie!" Laddie screamed, and I stood up as my anger fueled me. "Give me back my mate, or I'll kill you all!" I snarled, and they laughed. I shifted, and lunged at them. They yelped, but I caught the one that looked native along with the one that looked like twisted sister. I was about to rip their heads from their bodies, but Laddie's voice stopped me. "Cassie!" I looked over at him, and he was crying.

"Please don't kill them I know their assholes, but their still my brothers. Please Cassie!" I walked away from the two I had pinned, and I saw star let go of Laddie. He ran over to me, and wrapped his arms around my neck. I felt his hunger, and I changed back so he could bite me. I felt his fangs pierce the skin on my neck, and I wrapped my arms around him.

I let him drink his fill, and when he pulled back he looked horrified. He was about to start struggling, but I nuzzled him. "It's ok Laddie I'm not hurt, and you needed it." He held onto me, and I heard a gasp. I stood, and turned shifting as I went. I roared at the vampires, and lowered my head ready for a battle. I heard a twig snap behind Laddie, and I curled around him as I got ready for another battle only to see my sister. "Cassandra." I shifted back, and gave her a blank look.

"What do you want Samantha." She looked hurt that I had used her full name, but I didn't give two shits - in fact I didn't even give a shit. "Mom wants you to come home she knows what happened at the clearing, and it was only because a third vampire had witnessed it. Samson - the third vamp - was coming through the area, and caught Annie's scent he wanted to see if she was ok. He told everyone what had happened, and we just want you to come home."

I huffed, and glared at her. "Cut the crap Sam I have my mate now, and responsibilities to tend to. We both know that when mom is ready to apologize for being a cunt master general she can find me without you sniffing me out for her." I growled, and she flinched. "Please Cass we just want you back, and we all love you no matter what."

I was about ready to snap at her when I heard a growl behind me, and when I looked back Laddie was being held by the native. I snarled, and shifted I was about to rip a mother fucker up. when I heard a voice that I thought I never would again. "Dwayne put the boy down before my daughter rips you apart, and I might just help her." I swung my head to look at my mom, and I was shocked that she knew these vamps.

The native - Dwayne - put Laddie down, and he ran to me. I shifted back, and caught Laddie in my arms. I held him, and watched what would happen now that my mother was here. Laddie turned to watch as well, and my mom just walked up to them. "What did I tell you guys after I first met you, and what did I tell you about mates?" She crossed her arms, and kept her eyes on them. Dwayne sighed, and set down.

"You said that if we ever crossed one of your kids, and tried to hurt them that you would hurt us in return. You said mates were sacred, and if anyone tried to get between mates that they would get hurt bad." Dwayne said, and lowered his head. Twisted sister stepped up next, and he was shaking in fear. "Please Bella we didn't know she was your daughter, and we were just trying to protect Laddie." Mom sighed, and uncrossed her arms.

"It doesn't matter that you didn't know Paul you should've known better, and she said he was her mate now if you had paid closer attention you would've known better." Mom was upset, and I could see it was not going to end well if I didn't do something. I let go of Laddie, and went to stand by my mom for the first time in years. "It's ok mom we haven't been talking for a while now, but it's ok thanks for coming." I smiled at her, and she sighed.

Mom smiled back at me, and we hugged each other. When we pulled back she sighed, and I sighed too. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you I should have, but I didn't I'm so sorry sweety. Will you forgive an old woman for her foolishness?" I smiled, and laughed. "Of course I will your my mom, and my best friend." I said, and she smiled at me. "Come on I want to show you something." I said before shifting into my leopard form, and got Laddie on my back before heading to the den I had made with mom following.
