I do not own any of the CSI: NY characters because if I did then Mac and Stella would have got together long ago and there would be no Peyton because that is a boy's name and NO ONE in Britain speaks like that.
Nothing was said on the ride home- tiredness had finally taken its toll on Mac and he'd fallen asleep with his head resting on the window. However, as soon as the car stopped outside his apartment block, Mac jerked awake and pretended he'd never been asleep.
"Typical Mac", Stella thought
"Come on, I'll walk you to your door."
"Why?" Mac responded, "I'm not a child, I think I can get in a lift and out again by myself."
"Mac, you've just fallen asleep in the car. That never happens with you, not even when you'd refused to go home for a week after Claire died. You just snapped at me, which is also a first. Therefore, I am walking you to your door whether you like it or not."
"Note to self: never try to argue with Stella, you never win" he mumbled
"Quite right" she said, with just a glimmer of a smile. After all, she was almost as tired as Mac, even with the few hours' kip she'd managed to grab in the middle of the mammoth shift.
By the time they had reached his door, Mac was almost falling asleep on his feet and Stella had decided to stay the night "just to make sure he's ok" she'd told herself "even if it involves sleeping on that couch again". Of course, Mac had offered no resistance to her plan, realising that it would have been futile.
Then it happened, right outside his door. Something, he would say wanting to fill the void between them that had been created sometime around when he went out with Peyton- she would say his stubbornness to do something even when he was extraordinarily tired, made him send his lips crashing into hers and she knew that she would never need to sleep on that couch ever again.
Was this better than the previous chapter? Should I continue it? Please R&R. thanks
