Story Two: Swap
It was a warm summer morning. The sun was bright, the sky was clear and the birds were singing; all signs of a great day.
And where could we find Marco and Star on this fine morning? Fighting monsters in another dimension, discovering a new multiverse, playing a videogame? Of course not, that would be interesting. Instead, they were sitting on the living room couch.
Despite the fact that they were on summer vacation, this was one of the few times they had to relax. Then again, you wouldn't have that much to relax either when you're constantly travelling to different dimensions in search of a new adventure.
So the two of them decided that the one day that they didn't jump to some random dimension would be best spent just sitting in the most awkward position they could possibly think of. And by awkward, I don't mean to give you perverted ideas when you hear it.
So, Star and Marco sat on the Diaz family couch to watch a little TV and to spend time together. Star lied on the couch with her head in Marco's lap. Marco sat back against the couch while he rubbed Star's soft head and ran his fingers through her long, blonde hair.
Mostly the latter, considering the quality of modern TV shows lately. Seriously, I think the writers are taking lower quality drugs.
Normally the two would argue over what T.V. show to watch, but not this time. This time, they were watching something that they both love: 9.8 Falls. Why does this sound familiar?
The episode they were watching was called "Carpet Day", and it had their favorite set of siblings fighting over who would get a new room the shop handyman discovered. Why does this also sound familiar?
The two of them enjoyed the episode, all the way until the boy rubbed his feet of the carpet and shocked his sister, causing them to swap bodies.
Yep, it's official; they're watching a discount Adventure Time. I think…
"Ooo, that's interesting!" Star yelled, as she pointed at the T.V. "Wouldn't it be cool if we swapped bodies for the day?"
Marco chuckled as he continued to run his fingers through her blonde hair, "Not really, it sounds like a really bad idea, especially for a day like today. We're supposed to relax, not get into more trouble than usual."
"Why?" Star taunted as she softly pushed his hand out of her hair and sat up, "Afraid that my life is too tough for you to handle?"
Marco awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, "No… I have a date tonight… with Jackie." His face went red in embarrassment.
"Ooh! Someone's in love! Now we definitely have to do it!" Star teased as she pulled her wand out of her star-shaped purse, "Don't worry Marco, I won't mess it up for you." Star was grinning from ear-to-ear at this point.
"No Star, I am not doing this." Marco sternly answered Star, before crossing his arms and saying in a commanding tone, "You've made me agree to a lot of crazy stuff in the past, but not this time." Then he turned away from Star to drive the message home.
And that's when he chuckled, and his voice gained an amused tone as he smiled and turned to Star, "Wait, are you implying you'd go on a date with Jackie?" Marco was trying to hold back his laughter.
Star blushed like like crazy and tried to find a way to give the boy an answer he won't take the wrong way too, "No! I… Jackie… we wouldn't make… how would we… what would the others…"
After stumbling over her words, she finally yelled, "I don't want to date her! She's not my type-I mean, uh, we're not compatible-I mean, uh... uh... just ignore what I said, okay?"
"Sure, whatever." Marco scoffed before he softly finished, "Maybe we can change bodies this tomorrow, but not today. Ok Star?"
Star groaned as she threw her arms up in defeat, "Ugh, fine. Have it your way." Then her annoyed expression softens into a look of confusion, before she points at the wall behind Marco, "Hey, what's that over there?"
Marco quickly turned around, "What's what?" But, before he could realize what Star had done, it was too late.
The blonde-haired princess quickly yelled, "Body-Swappin' Cherry Bomb!" and the wand glowed light red. Then, it fired a massive cherry at the ceiling.
And when it hit the ceiling, it popped, filling the room with the sweet scent of the cherry, and knocking both of them unconscious.
"Ugh, did it work?" Star asks as she rubs her head in confusion.
Marco sternly replied, "I told you not to do that Star!" as he fans the dark, cherry-filled air away.
Star excitedly replied, "Yeah, but it worked!" before inspecting her new body.
Marco does the same before yelling in a very annoyed tone, "Change us back now! Seriously, I don't know how to use the bathroom in this!"
Star chuckled and waved her hand dismissively, "Don't worry, Marco, I went an hour ago, so you'll be good for a while. Don't worry, I'll change us back later."
"Damnit Star! Change us back right-" Marco was cut off by the sound of a portal opening behind him.
Three huge soldiers walked through and greet Marco in Star's body with serious gazes and strong tones. A few seconds later, King Butterfly calmly walks through and says, "Hello Star, I've come to take you home on official business. Don't worry; you'll probably be back here on earth by evening. Also give your wand to your guide for safe-keeping, you won't need it while you're on Mewni."
Marco took a good look at Star, before saying, "Fine, have fun on your date Marco. Here's the wand." Then he hands the wand to star and follows the king into the inter-dimensional portal.
Star waves in excitement as she watches Marco leave with her father. Then she thinks, "Now lets get Marco a girlfriend!"
Then Star ran up the stairs to get ready for Marco's date, and by a technicality, her date as well.
The kingdom of Mewni glistened in the red sunlight. It was a nice warm day, almost exactly like it was on Earth, only less original.
"Hey… err, dad," Marco started, "Why'd you call?" He struggles to control the embarrassment and awkwardness he felt.
The king replied in a hearty tone, "Ah, my daughter, always as curious as those strange earth creatures called monkeys. The king of the ice kingdom has brought his son here. They're currently looking for someone to marry the child. "
"So they want to see if I'd be suitable?" Marco asked as they entered the castle through the massive front gate.
The king sternly responded, "Yes, of course. We must make the preparations for him to meet you." Then he looked at a nearby attendant and said, "Take Star and make sure she is ready for the Ice King."
The short, fit woman nodded, before taking Marco to Star's room, and forcibly dressing him in royal attire.
It took about three hours for the preparations to be completed, but when they're done, Marco is wearing an elegant light-blue dress, similar to what Star wore before coming to Earth.
"Are you sure all of this formality is necessary?" Marco asked while tugging at the tight collar of his dress.
The king calmly replied with a soft and understanding tone, "I know that you don't want to be "sized up" as humans say, but to keep the peace between Mewni and the Ice Kingdom is to hold this meeting."
Then the King places his arm on Marco's soldier as he continues, "In fact, try letting his son down easy if you don't like him. If you go too hard, like how you usually do, the Ice King or prince may go berserk. And who knows what that they are capable of when they're berserk."
Marco nodded and asked with a submissive tone, "So, what do you want me to do now?" Then he put his hands behind his back.
"For now…" The king's voice trailed off. Then he went into his right pocket and pulled out a small, golden tiara, "I want you to be on your best behavior, or at least a close equivalent. This meeting can cause a war, or prevent one. Enjoy yourself for now, though. You've got five hours until the ice king is expected to arrive with his son, the fire prince." Then, the king placed the tiara and Marco's head.
Then Marco turned around, sighed and walked away to explore the castle. Though, he briefly stopped when he noticed something...odd that the king said.
"Wait, the Ice King's son is the Fire Prince!" He asked and yelled in disbelief.
Meanwhile, back on Earth
Star spent the day getting herself ready for Marco's date, and by a technicality, her date too.
First she got him new clothes, then a haircut. She also made sure to get Jackie a bouquet of flowers and a love card, something she doubted Marco would know to do.
"Jackie is going to have a great time with me! And by me I obviously mean Marco, because let's be honest, why would I want to date Jackie?" Star couldn't help but remark as she stuffs a box of chocolates and her wand in Marco's bag. "Now let's go on this date."
Then she walks out the front door of the Diaz home, before making her way to Jackie's home.
When she got there, she knocked on the door with her normal enthusiasm. She was jumping in excitement.
It took about five minutes, but eventually Jackie answered the door and greeted Star, "Ready for the date, Marco?"
Jackie wore a light purple shirt with a yellow star design, blue jeans and had a brown purse with her name on it.
"Hi Jackie, let's go!" Star said with an enthusiasm that actually surprised Jackie. After all, Marco wasn't normally energetic. But she decided to just roll with it and said, "So where are we going?" as she followed Star down the steps of her home and onto the cool, sunset street.
Star pointed at a nearby hill and said, "We're just going to have a romantic night under the stars." Jackie looked at Star for a second and said in a calm and agreeing tone, "It sounds nice. Are you sure there's not going to be some crazy inter-dimensional thing that's going to attack us?"
"Nah, Star's in Mewni right now so we have the night all to ourselves." Star said with a calm smile as she walked towards the hill, "Though, something might come up."
Jackie laughed as she started following Star, "You don't seem like yourself Marco. You seem, 'cheery' and more laid back than usual. Has Star been getting to ya lately? Or is it something else?"
"Nah, I'm fine. Star just gave me some advice, that's all." Star answered while taking Jackie's hand in her own, "Now let's enjoy the night." Jackie nodded and said, "Whatever you say Marco."
It took them about 30 minutes to reach the site Star had prepared. And when they Jackie saw it, she was awestruck.
The site wasn't completely dark nor completely lit. It had a thin picnic blanket and had a basket set up. There were fireflies flying around it, helping to seal the calm and beautiful mood. It was the perfect place to have a date.
"So do you like it, Jackie?" Star asked, already knowing that it was beautiful.
And the blonde girl next to her replied, "It's- It's amazing!" she couldn't hold back her emotions. She really believed that it was a beautiful scene.
Star grabbed Jackie's hand, and took to have a seat on the tarp. Then they lied down next to each other and started stargazing.
Back on Mewni
"Entering, the king of the Ice Lands! King Simon, his wife Queen Betty, and their son Prince Gunter!" The monarchs of the ice kingdom were dressed in dark blue and white, similar to the same things the monarchs of Mewni wore.
The kings greeted each other, and Star's dad invited them to dinner. The two families sat across from each other at the royal dining room table. And they talked, king to king, queen to queen, and most importantly, child to child.
"Hi Star, I'm Gunter." The quiet boy said, and Marco replied with a tone hinting at the fact that he didn't want to be there, "Hi."
Gunter continued, "I heard you're usually really upbeat, almost like you were on a sugar rush or constantly on smile dip. What's wrong?" Marco was about to tell him of Star's body swap, but something held him back. It was as if he wanted to make sure that Gunter would be a great guy for Star, "Ahh, nothing, I'm just tired that's all. Definitely"
"Ok, so why don't you tell me about yourself?" The prince of fire asked, and Marco replied, "Well, I love adventuring and messing with my friends, how about you?"
The boy replied with a serious look and tone, "Well, I hate going on adventures, and I'd prefer to stay at home. And I'd rather not be messed with. The last time someone messed with me, I melted my room!"
Marco gained a bored look as he continued to talk about random things with the Fire Prince.
And by the end of the night, Marco was close to falling asleep. Seriously, the Ice prince was that boring! One would expect a guy who lived on the icy tundra to be more exciting or "cool", if you will.
By the time dinner was done, Marco could barely stay awake. "So, how do you like Gunter, Star?" the ice king asked in a hearty, sure tone.
Now, Marco didn't want to start a war, but he would rather not have Star engaged to a person that she wouldn't like. So he briefly fell asleep, instantly woke up when he hit the table and replied, "I really don't like him much. He's really dull and has little personality."
"No personality?! Dull?!" The prince angrily said as fiery mist began to form around his arms. He then stopped and added in a calm, reasonable tone, "I got to admit, she has a point."
"Now you've gone and done it, girl!" The ice king coldly yelled as he got out of his chair and grabbed his wife, before quickly running out of the hall.
Star's parents got out of their chairs and stood back as the prince remembered he was angry and absolutely lost it.
Marco jumped out of the way as the prince used his icy powers to create frozen battle armor to protect himself with. And used his fiery powers to set ice on fire.
"Well, great, I guess I'm gonna have to kick his ass." Marco chuckled as he carefully looked at the angry prince, "First, how the heck did the kid set ice on fire?! Second, how the heck do I fight in Star's body?"
On Earth…
"So, Star, you really turned Marco's arm into a tentacle when trying to fix a broken bone? Haha!" Jackie laughed at Star's story, "You know, Star? I always thought of Marco like the safe kid, but you're actually cooler than I expected."
"Yeah…" Star's voice trailed off as she turned her head to face Jackie, "Before I say anything else, I really want to know something, why do you call me Star?"
"Because I know it's you, Star. I know you and Marco swapped bodies." Jackie said with a smug tone. "There's no way you and Marco could change personalities so abruptly without swapping bodies!" Then she chuckled, "Despite what the Internet may say about blondes, I'm smarter than I look, and I'd say the same about you Star."
Star didn't know how to respond to the revelation, and it took her a while before she finally replied, with a bit of worry in her tone, "Did you enjoy star gazing?"
Jackie chuckles before smiling and turning to Star, "I loved spending the night with you."
Then she put her arm around Star, before pulling her closer. "Granted, it could have been better if Marco had been here to spend it with me, but I guess we can do that another time, right?"
Star's face went flush with embarrassment, but she went with it anyway because this was for Marco.
Next Jackie brought her face closer to Star's err… Marco's and…
But, before their lips met, a portal from another dimension opened next to them, and Ludo walked through.
The two lovers got up, and Jackie stood in awe of the portal as Star confronted Ludo.
"Ludo! What are you doing here?" Star snarled.
Ludo nonchalantly answered, "I'm here to take the wand from you, what do you think?"
Star sighed and said, "Well, good luck, because Star has the wand, and as you can see Star isn't here right now!"
Ludo scoffed and replied, "Ha! Do you really think I believe the act, Star Butterfly! I watched you swap bodies with that Marco boy! Now how and why, I won't answer that." He points his hand at Star and continues, "Then, I saw your father take him to Mewni and give you the wand!"
Jackie was speechless. She couldn't believe what Ludo was saying, "Is this true, Marco?" she questioned as she turned to Star and put her hands on her hips.
Star turned to her and rubbed the back of her head nervously.
Jackie quickly winked one eye, and gave a reassuring smile, before returning to an angry glare, before Star awkwardly replied, "I kinda forced Marco to swap bodies with me for the day so we could live each other's life. He told me he had a date, so I wanted to make sure he didn't screw this up."
"Yeah, yeah. I don't really care about whatever relationship you have here, I just want the wand!" Ludo interrupted by pointing at Star and saying, "After them my minions!"
Star pulled out her wand and yelled, "Triple cannon rainbow barrage!" Then her pink wand glowed blue, before forming three rainbow-colored cannons and firing them at the minions, sending them flying back into the portal.
Then Star nonchalantly walked over to Ludo, picked him up, looked him threateningly in the eyes and said, "Some other time, I'm helping my best friend with his girl issues right now."
"So Star, body swap?" Jackie blushed from embarrassment. Star rubbed the back of her head and replied, "Yeah, so you were spending the day with a girl instead of a guy… although you know all along so-"
Jackie smiled, pulled Star close, and said…
Back on Mewni
After the Fire Prince got enraged by Marco, Marco knocked over a chair used it for cover. The Prince fired bolts of lightning at him, trying to burn him to death, and causing Marco to question if he really was an ice prince or a fire prince. Maybe he was a lightning prince considering what he was shooting.
Then a bolt of lightning destroyed his cover. At that moment, Marco quickly thought, "I don't have magic, but I can fight, somehow…" Before jumping up, and dodging every bolt the ice prince fired at him. Then he jumped up, and roundhouse kicked the kid in the face, knocking him unconscious.
Marco dusted himself off and remarked, "And that's how you fight on Earth, Chuck Norris style." Then he looked around the room before saying, "Man, so much fire and ice, he missed a lot.
Then he heard clapping.
"Ahh Star, you've passed the test!" The king joyfully yelled, "It is time for you to move on to the next stage of your training!"
Marco turned to the king with a look of confusion on his face, "What?"
The king chuckled, "It is time for you to start studying from the book of ancient combat spells, and other cool stuff!" Then he handed him a dark red book with a golden six-fingered hand with the number 1 on it.
"Now, go home to your friends before the Ice King realizes what you just did. You certainly don't want to worry 'Marco', right?" This king jokingly said as he took out a pair of dimensional scissors and opened a portal back to Earth.
"Ok." Marco had no idea how to react, although he was suspicious about why the king mentioned his name like that, so he just followed the king's orders and walked through the portal. He waved goodbye as he left.
And with seconds, Marco found himself back at the Diaz household. And at the moment, Star walked inside.
"Hey Star." Marco started, "How was your day?"
Star replied by pulling out her wand and saying, "It was awesome!" Then she waved her magic wand around and yelled, "Jellybean body return!"
And the wand glowed bright rainbow, before firing a cloud of jellybeans, which then swapped Marco and Star back into their own bodies.
"So, Star, I'll go first." Marco said as he jumped on the couch, "I saved you from a marriage to a weird prince who could use tri-attack, and got you moved onto the next phase of your training. It has something to do with that book."
Star jumped on the couch next to him, before lying down on his lap and opening the book, "Well, Jackie loved the date, I can assure you that..." Her voice trailed off from embarrassment.
Marco ran his fingers through Star's long hair as he asked, "And what happened?"
Star awkwardly replied, " Then Ludo attacked, and to make a long and embarrassing story short, we have a girlfriend now!"
"What?" Marco smiled before laughing hysterically, "What do you mean we?" and passing out from laughter and confusion.

A/N Before anyone starts flaming me for this chapter, this story isn't meant to be taken seriously. I just wanted to make a funny one-shot for April Fools Day.
Anyways, tell me what you guys think of it. After all, I don't use satire that often. Also, here's a shout-out to Exotos135 for beta-reading this! He added a lot of the satire in this chapter.
Disclaimer: Blah, blah, Star vs. the Forces of Evil belongs to Disney, blah, blah.
