Chapter 2: The Important Mission

NatePOV

"Time to start your lesson again Nate. Show what you learned throughout this week."

You picked up a scythe just right for you and started to swing around the weapon in a circle. You twirled it a bit faster and then twirled it around you; your hands deftly moving around you to expertly grip the weapon and then stopped the scythe in your battle position. Karis nodded her head and said, "Now show me what you learned about fighting."

You quickly set the sharp end on the ground and dragged it behind you as you rushed forward. You sliced an X mark with a finishing slice down the middle and jabbed the blunt end of your scythe at the "enemy". You quickly started again with an uppercut slice and then brought the scythe down, slamming it to create a shockwave. You paused and looked at Karis carefully. She had her hands crossed and her foot was tapping slowly. You remembered and steeled yourself. 'It didn't work the first time...but I can do this!' You threw the scythe in front of you so that it spun in a fast, deadly circle. Since there was no enemy it just landed somewhere and you took out your dagger and stabbed at the abdomen of your "enemy" quickly. You quickly withdrew the dagger and delivered what was supposed to be the killing blow: a knee to the head. You looked at Karis if that was the right one and she nodded slowly. She went to your scythe and gave it to you, "Be faster. It'll save your life. Also, you forgot the last one didn't you? Don't worry, I forgot many times. That's why I ditched the dagger but hey. You might have a chance with it if you practice more."

You nodded and said, "So I did...mediocre?"

She stopped and considered it. She chuckled and patted your head, "You did well."

You smiled and bowed.

"Now it's time for you to learn what you can do with darkness."

"Darkness?" you whispered quietly. "I can control darkness?"

"Of course! There is darkness within everyone. Some smaller than most but that's up to whether or not they want to stay in the light. However, you need to know if you want to stay in the dark. Do you already know or do you still need to think about it?"

You thought about darkness. You don't know anything about darkness though. 'Maybe it would be nice to learn a thing or two about darkness. But I may be wrong...' You shrugged, "What's good about learning about darkness?"

Karis laughed, "You don't know darkness? You are one innocent child...I'll teach you some things but none that are too terrible."

You bowed, "Thank you Karis. Are we learning today?"

She nodded, "Not yet. You need to learn the basics about darkness." She summoned a black aura on her hands and then twirled them around. "As you can see, darkness can be something as light as a feather or," the darkness merged and turned into a solid figure of a person then landed on its feet on Karis' palm, "it could be as real as clay. And now what darkness can do to you. Well, I'll make an image for you with this clay."

As she explained, the clay man made horrendous images from her simple explanations and you watched with interest. At the end of her lecture the clay man was down on his knees as if he couldn't hold the weight of his world. The world of darkness. You looked up at Karis and said, "Darkness seems like it's supposed to be really dangerous."

She ruffled your hair, "It's okay. If you can keep self-control of yourself, you could carry the weight of the darkness with ease. Like me! You don't see me leaned over like the clay man do you? I have self-control."

"Self-control...I don't know Karis. I don't feel confident in myself." you lowered your head sadly.

Karis chuckled, "It's always difficult at first but you'll get it Nate. I believe in you."

You took a deep breath and sighed, "I'll try it out then."

She smiled and began to teach you how to know you have darkness. You just had to think of your deepest, darkest fears and turn the fear into matter. "Just like so Nate. Don't think too hard when you try to conjure the darkness. You need to feel it travel to where you want it to go."

It was pretty difficult too. You didn't know where the fear wanted it to go but you knew you had to make it conjure up in your hands. Karis thought about it and said, "Give me your hands. I'll see what might be the problem."

You held out your hands palms forward and she held onto them. Her eyes changed into pitch black and she looked at you. All of a sudden she became fearful. She started to breathe shakily and she even started to shake. You tilted your head and said, "What's wrong Karis? Are you scared?"

She then then let out a sudden scream and she fell back onto her butt. Her eyes were changing back to original color but she stared at you with fear. You reached out, "Karis?"

She flinched but she said, "Nate...do you know what you inhabit inside of you?"

You shook your head. You had no idea what was inside you really. You only knew your outside self. She shook her head and stood shakily. You helped her to a chair and she silently whispered, "You hold a demon."

"A demon? What kind?"

Karis just shook her head and said, "I'm going to rest. Keep practicing on getting a harness on your darkness."

You nodded and concentrated on the task. You paid no mind of the demon inside though you really wished you should have.

-223-

"Nate I'm sending you on an important mission."

You looked up at Karis and said, "Important mission?"

It's already been five months since you met Karis and she's already sent you on a mission. Why? Karis cleared her throat, "We need to get rid of that demon inside you. So I'm sending you out to find the cure."

You gasped, "I'll be cured? But won't that take my darkness away?"

"Trust me boy, there's a difference demon darkness and succubus darkness. You need pure energy to drive away the thing inside and I know exactly what you need. An El shard fragment."

You stared at her for a moment. She laughed, "You don't know what an El shard is? Oh boy maybe this is a mistake haha," her face turned serious again, "But it must be contained. You need to contain the spirit. Otherwise, it will consume you whole Nate."

You swallowed and asked, "What do I need to do Karis?"

"You need to travel to a little place called Reuben village. It has the biggest one and trust me. That spirit I saw was too big..."

You nodded and a shiver ran down your spine. 'I'll be leaving?' She held a bag for your journey and said, "You'll need to travel far young man but don't worry! I'm giving you a map of the region past Sanders and you'll be dropped off at Velder Kingdom. You'll find your way there."

You took them with your scythe slung on your back and dagger on your belt and looked at Karis, "What if I don't make it back before it consumes me Karis? What do I do then?"

She sighed and said, "I can't always be there for you Nate. You'll need to find out yourself."

It shocked you but you remembered how much she pummeled that into your head. 'Someday, I need to be able to take care of myself.' You straightened up and said, "I'm ready."

Karis leads you to the door, "I'll make a portal for you. It should put you in a safe location where you'll land. And...here." She handed you a bag of sand. You looked at her confused and she chuckled, "So you can remember Sanders AND your mission."

You nodded, "I'll miss you Karis."

"It should be easy," she whispered, "Just retrieve the El and I'll take care of the rest. Hurry back okay?"

You nodded again and stood on the magic circle. She spoke an incantation and the image of Karis and her home disappeared right before you. It was a rush and you felt like you couldn't breathe. You held onto your throat as you tried to breathe in but there was no air. 'How much longer? I can't take this anymore!' You started to kick around and panicked. However, as you kept on trying to breathe you suddenly stopped and you released your throat to breathe in the fresh air. You panted for a bit and opened your eyes. You didn't realize that they were closed. Under you, you were about 200 feet from the ground. You screamed and then gravity took over. You crashed into a tree, hearing a gruesome crack. You hoped that you didn't break anything. You fell against branch after branch and you heard cracks. Some sounded like they were from the trees and other sounding like you were breaking some bones. You landed on a branch and decided to hold onto it. You gripped the branch by wrapping your arms around it and you slowly came to a stop. You were breathing shakily from your broken ribs. You looked down and groaned loudly. Your toes were touching the dirt. You let go and fell on your back with a thud. However, your head seemed to land on a rock really hard and you blacked out.

InaPOV

Your brother was tugging your arm, "Big Sis, look! Look! I found someone, I found someone! I think he's dead too."

You laughed as you were being led by your brother, "Dead? I highly doubt it Jonah. He might just be sleeping so don't be too loud."

"Oh! Okay!" Jonah silently whispered and made a way for you to see. "There, there, there! Do you see him?"

You peered closely and gasped. He was dirty all over and the back of his head is where there was blood and dry blood. You had your hands to your mouth and gulped, "Jonah go get mother and father. Quickly."

"Okay. Whatever you say Ina." And he ran off in the direction they came.

You jumped over the brush and ran to his side, "Hey? Are you okay? Can you hear me?" He made no response to answer you. You sighed and gingerly lifted his head. 'Oh...he hurt his head badly. What on earth did you do?' You shook him lightly, being careful to not hurt him, "Excuse me? Are you awake? Oh please say something."

He groans softly. You gasped, "Hello? Please tell me you're okay."

He kept groaning and he softly said, "Who...are you..?"

"My name is Ina. Tell me, what happened to you?"

He just groaned and gently rested his head on your hand. He was breathing, you made sure. You looked over to see if Jonah was coming back with mother and father when he suddenly said, "I don't remember...anything."

"Not even your name?"

He chuckled and put his hand on his stomach in pain, "Of course I remember my name. It's...Nathan? No it's...Nathaniel. But...just call me…Nate."

You nodded your head and heard someone cry out, "Ina? Where are you dear?"

"Over here!" You yelled as loud as you could to let them know.

Mother and father came through the brush and they both gasped at the sight. Father shook his head, "Ina help me pick this young man up. Jonah take your mother to see the kingdom's healer and alchemist. Hurry now."

Nate chuckled and groaned in pain, "Ina...huh? What a...unique name."

You shook your head and saw Jonah running with mother to the kingdom. Father looked around and found a hollow log. He stomped on the log until it cracked into two creating a bed that you both could carry Nate in. You held onto his legs as father held him and laid him down. He groaned in pain and breathed heavily as he was laid back down. "Ina, grab the other end. We're taking him back home. The forest isn't a suitable place for him to recover."

You carefully made your back home where mother and Jonah were waiting for you with the healer and alchemist. You and father set the log down and Grail looked to see the boy. He stepped off saying, "We need to get the boy inside the house quickly. He'll die if he's not in a proper environment."

"You two stay downstairs. We'll tell you when it's okay to come up." father ordered you and Jonah.

You watched them walk up with the dying boy in your father's arms and bit your bottom lip. 'I hope he won't die. Please don't die Nate.'

"Big Sis?" You looked at Jonah and he was tugging your shirt, "Why won't they let us up?"

"Because...," you softly started, "Because they don't want us to see what they're going to see. It'll scare both of us Jonah."

He nodded and sat down on one of the dining room chairs. You sat down too and looked outside, trying to take your mind off of Nate.

-223-

"Children?"

You and Jonah went to base of the stairs and saw mother with a small smile, "Come up and see him children. He's completely fine now."

You and Jonah ran up the stairs and you were the first to enter the room. He was lying down on one of the guest beds and there were bandages all over him. Grail was sitting on a stool with a cup of coffee in his...paws and father was resting on another stool. We hugged him and you turned to Nate. His green eyes were dull but they lighted up when he saw you, "Hi there Ina. Look at me. I'm patched up haha."

You laughed softly and said, "You still don't remember anything?"

"Like hell I do."

Father frowned disapprovingly but you said, "His name is Nathaniel. But he prefers Nate. How come you don't remember anything?"

He shrugged, "You saw what you saw. My head fell on a rock or...something."

"The back of your head." Grail corrected him.

"Yeah yeah I know. But either way, I won't remember anything. I have this bag of sand with me but I don't know where this came from either." He pulled out a small pouch and handed it to you directly, "It's really soft, want to feel?"

You took the pouch and picked up some of the powder with your fingers. It was soft like he said. "You know," you inquired, "You might have come from the beach."

"Oooooo," Jonah said, "I always wanted to go to the beach. Big Sis went to the beach more than me."

You nodded and handed the pouch back to Nate. He tapped his finger slowly, "I should just go. I don't want to be a trouble for you. You all have done enough for me."

Mother gently touched his shoulder, "Anyone is welcome in this household. You can stay here for as long as you want."

Nate was flustered and turned to father. He smiled at him and nodded, "That's right young man. We're willing to let you live here haha. It's always nice to have guests with us."

You giggled softly as he turned his head between mother and father and bowed his head while letting out a pained cry. Mother helped him up, "Ehehe shouldn't do that huh? But I'm grateful that you'll let me stay here. I'll even help out around the house if you want me to."

"You could always help Ina with her chores. I think she needs it." Mother said playfully.

"Hey!" You stated and pouted, "I'm fine on my own."

Nate perked up, "I'll gladly help you Ina!"

Jonah snickered, "I think he likes you."

You shoved him and Nate looked away. Mother and father laughed; even Grail chuckled at the thought. He stepped down, "I'll be back at my shop. If anything more happens with your wounds you come straight to me boy."

Nate nodded and Grail left with mother to show him the way out. You and Jonah talked with Nate more until the sun started to set. Mother came into the room, "Ina, Jonah come down and eat dinner."

"Could we eat with Nate mother? Please?" you asked.

She chuckled, "You really want to Ina?"

You nodded and Jonah snickered again. You gave him a shove and Nate looked away. You didn't like him that way, you wanted to be friends with such a mysterious person. However, you weren't sure of yourself these days. You looked back at mother, "Can we?"

"Well Nathaniel's is coming right now so I'll take both of yours up. How does that sound?"

You and Jonah nodded and went back to talking with Nate. You learned very little but he talks a lot about his scythe skills. You never saw anyone fight with a scythe and so you asked him if he could show you how to fight with a scythe. He smiled softly, "You want to know how I look when I fight? Interesting."

He never said yes or no. Mother came in with bowls of soup along with smaller bowls of rice and one huge bowl of chopped meat. She set Nate's bowl down on his lap and said, "Be careful with that young man." She went to you and Jonah and gave you your rice and soup and she set the chopped meat down with Nate and she smiled, "You three enjoy. Just call me when you're all finished." You and Jonah sat on either side of Nate and you all ate and conversed about each other. You never thought someone like Nate who fell from a tree and forgot everything about him would be so friendly. 'Or at least he's friendly for now…' Jonah spoke up as he was chewing his food, "I wonder: you don't know anyone before you? Like your mom or your dad?"

Nate paused and thought about it. You could see his mind was trying to sort out people he could remember and he had this blank look to his face. He frowned slightly, "I don't remember any mom or dad but I do remember a group of people. They apparently lived in the desert because I have this." He pulled out a little bag and handed it to Jonah. "A bag of sand. I thought it would be useless but I'm somehow remembering one or two things."

You looked inside the pouch and saw the golden colored sand. It didn't look like any other sand at the beach. You looked up, "I've looked at maps a few times and there's this region that's not really charted. I think it's called Sanders?"

Nate stared blankly again and thought about it. You could see in his eyes that he was remembering. Jonah must've known it too because he was leaning in closer like you were and Nate suddenly shook his head. "What did you see Nate?" you asked softly.

He looked down, "Purple."

"Purple?" you and Jonah said in questioning unicent.

Nate nodded slowly, "I remember purple but...that's it. I wish there was something more that could jog my memory."

You frowned but said, "Someday you'll find those memories. Don't worry about a thing Nate. Worrying gives you crease lines you know."

Nate laughed and leaned back on the pillow, "Well I guess. On the bright side, I have no worries of my past that'll keep me down today. I guess I should keep forgetting until the time comes. Do you have worries Ina, Jonah? Is there something that keeps you down every day that you just can't get rid of? If it's too personal don't say. I'm still a stranger to you guys."

You nodded, "You're not a stranger anymore Nate. You're Nathaniel to us now."

Jonah nodded in agreement. He looked between you guys and chuckled, "You all have more caliber than what a normal adult would say. Thank you, you two."

Jonah spoke, "I sometimes wish I can be an adult."

Nate turned his head to Jonah, "An adult? Why would you wish to be that Jonah?"

He looked down and played with the sheets that Nate was using. Nate looked over at you, "Is he serious?"

You nodded, "He says it in a very serious way so I have no choice but to take him seriously."

"Huh, weird for a kid around his age."

"Jonah," you said as you waved your fingers at him, "do you know why you want to be an adult?"

He kept playing with it but he eventually said, "'Because I'm limited when I'm a kid. I want to be free like an adult. Or at least a teenager."

"He's only 6 years old. I'm 4 years older than him." you said.

"And you're closer to being a teen Big Sis."

"Don't worry. In a few years, you'll be there too. You just have to wait."

Jonah sighed, "I don't want to wait."

Nate looked at both of you guys again and smiled, "For siblings who have a huge age difference, you two get along with each other so well."

You and Jonah looked at each other and started laughing. "He says we get along. Oh El have mercy."

Nate looked between you two confused, "Did I miss something?"

You patted his shoulder, "We don't get along that often. But I guess you can say we don't fight as much. We know better."

Jonah nodded in agreement. Mother knocked and came inside, "Children, it's time to sleep. You have to let Nathaniel sleep too."

You both stood and said goodnight to Nate. He softly said it too and leaned back against his pillow. You took one more look at him and slowly closed the door behind you. Jonah nudged you and softly said, "Youuuuuuu like him."

"I don't! Shut up about it. He's just interesting to me."

"Whatever." Jonah rolled his eyes and laughed as he went inside the bathroom to wash up for the next day.

You shook your head and sat at your bed, "I don't like him. I don't."

-223-

In the morning, there was devastating news. A letter was made to round up young soldiers with special potential and one child they specifically wanted was Jonah. "But," Jonah said as a knight of the Velder Garrison came to take him away, "Why me?!"

You had no idea why they would want Jonah to be part of their special group and they didn't give out any specific reasons as to why they needed him. Mother was just as panicky as Jonah and father was musing on the subject. The knight sat at the table, stoic and stiff as knight should be. Apparently, he explained that he helped head the special force and that he's mostly called Lee. You can tell father was having a hard time with the subject and that mother was having a difficult time keeping herself together. You shook your head and said, "What's so special about him sir? Have you seen him do anything?"

He nodded his head, "I've actually seen him do quite a bit outside of your home. I'm surprised he kept away his secret from all of you."

You turned your head to him, astounded. Mother and father looked at him as well. Mother softly asked, "Why didn't you tell us dear?"

Jonah looked down at the table sadly, "I was scared to tell you all that I had a power. And if I did told you guys, you would try to suppress it. Suppressing it just makes it go wilder..."

Mother gently patted his head, "What powers do you have Jonah?"

"Telekinesis."

You raised your brows and father did as well. Mother looked at him and whispered something in his ear.

"I didn't know." He seemed like he wanted to cry.

My father and I were both surprised by the fact that they both could inhabit the power of telekinesis. You never knew that your mother could hide her secrets so well. 'I guess it passed down through genetics. Fifty percent chance me and fifty percent chance my brother.' But you looked back at the stoic knight who was awaiting an answer. You stared back at mother and father and then met eyes with Jonah. They glistened even more when he was sad. Pleading to you that he doesn't want to go. You stared back in apology, 'I'm sorry. I have no power here.' Father gently put his hands down and whispered, "If it's going to benefit him to control that power then we'll let him go."

"No!" Mother cried, "I can help him! I learned to control my powers, I can help him!"

"Ma'am." The knight softly whispered in a serious tone, "This case is special. Do you know why? His power can lift up even the heaviest objects. It can surpass strength stronger than a super human. And that thing has a mind of its own. Have you seen your son do any of those? We have. And we want to keep you, all three of you, safe from that hazard. To help wean out its energy, grab control of it, and use it for the better. This is our sole reason why we ask you. We want to help your son, not train him into a little barbarian like we do to the rest of the recruits."

The room was silent as you observed what was going on. You looked at Jonah and saw him thinking. He looked like he was thinking more than before. 'This is a tough decision. Of course he would be thinking so much at a time like this.' However, you yourself were thinking as hard as Jonah. Where will he go? Will he be safe? Why even take him now when there isn't a war going on? You leaned back and let out a slow sigh. 'I don't want Jonah to go...' The whole family was still indecisive about the matter. But then, Jonah stood up suddenly and said, "Fine...I'll go."

You stared at your brother who tried to look brave but he really felt sadness. You wanted to say something but in situations like this, you didn't know what to say. You stared down the table and sighed. The knight stood and held out a hand, "We must go now then Jonah. We cannot waste any more time."

Jonah nodded and slowly stood up. He looked at his mom and dad and said good bye. He came to you and hugged you tightly, "Thank you," he whispered, "Even though you're my only sister and we only lived together for a short time…you're the best."

You smiled and pat his head gently, "Good bye Jonah. Train well. Haha…make us all proud."

He let go and followed the knight outside. He jumped onto the back of the cart and sat down quietly. You watched the cart speed off into the horizon and went to your room. 'Well,' you though, 'Jonah is gone…what am I going to do now? I have no one to look after.' You reached into your drawer and pulled out Core. It faintly glowed a soft yellow for it was hibernating. You held Core carefully and said, "Activate."

Core then began to shine brightly and gave a low humming sound. It produced a text box that said, "Hello master. What shall I do for you today?"

You sat back and sighed, "My brother got recruited to the army. I'm surprised they didn't ask me about the army."

The typed words disappeared and it began to type, "They may not know master. You haven't shown anything extraordinary to them that could possibly give them the idea to bring you into the army."

"But what if…what it's my calling? I've been contemplating on that subject for a while but I just have this feeling that I do belong there. Like…I should join to make me a better…me."

"Whatever you think master, I'll support you for whatever you choose."

You stared at the ground and sighed again. You looked at Core that was still glowing and illuminating the dim room. "Core?"

"Yes master?"

"You're smart right?"

"In a way. It depends on which kind of knowledge you are talking about."

You glumly smirked, "What do you know about magic?"

You set Core down as it illuminated her room with floating text boxes. Each text box showed facts and fiction about magic and what kinds there are in this world. You walked around and searched for telekinesis. "Core, could you bring up some things about 'telekinesis'?"

"Of course master." And all of the other boxes went away except for five. 'Why isn't there a lot for this magic? Could be that…' You read the first one that was on top which said "Telekinesis: Unknown Force of Power". It mostly consisted of how telekinesis wasn't as well-known as most other which is why that this type of magic was dying out. There are people, however, that lived with telekinesis called Lusideu Son or Lucid Hands. They are still out there but fewer than ever. 'Was mother part of those people?' You read on to see that now their location is unknown but they live everywhere across the Elrios continent. You read the rest of them talking about the same subjects as the first text box. You sat back and sighed, "Core, could you bring up some info on these…Lusideu Sons?"

Soon, you were engrossed with the subjects until eventually you passed out on the floor.

NatePOV

You slowly got out of the bed and stood for a moment. 'I want to thank these people. I should probably help them then! Unless…I'm fit to actually help.' But you felt better than yesterday. You slowly moved your shoulders and stretched your arms in the air. A relaxed sigh left your lips and you looked around for a shirt. There were clean ones set upon a chair so you took one and put that on. 'I wonder how long I can stay here. I still have my mission at hand. But then again…' You sighed sadly, 'I have no idea where I'm supposed to go from here.' A knock came from the door and you opened to find Ina's mother smiling at you, "I see you're up and about now. Would you like to join us for breakfast?"

"Of course ma'am. I would love to." You replied with smooth haste. You were hungry for a good breakfast.

Ina's mother laughed and pointed down the hall, "I need to attend to the food that's still cooking. Why don't you wake Ina? Her door is the second to the right."

You nodded and walked to the door. You knocked lightly but no answer. You knocked a little harder and louder but there was still no answer. You tried the door knob and slowly opened it. There you saw Ina curled up on the floor with paper strewn everywhere. 'My goodness. What happened here?' You walked around the papers and reached over to poke Ina's arm. But before you did, you read one of the papers and you felt like you were reading nonsense. 'The Lusideu Sons? Ha…they're extinct. But why would Ina want to know these people?' You were taught about ancient people by…who? You thought long and hard but you also remember a conversation. 'You have no idea how long a succubus can live Nate. I've known tribes long before these people of Sander came. Also it's good for you to know who lived here before us but there are certain tribes that I must let you know about. Some of them, I sense, are rising back. Not from the grave but it really has that feeling…but back to the lesson. You also need to learn about their magic as well. The tribes that lived here in Sander knew magic that can be passed down to their children…' 'That voice,' you thought and knew for a fact that it was feminine, 'it sounds familiar but at the same time…it doesn't.' But you didn't ponder longer and gave Ina a poke, "Wake up sleepy head."

Ina groaned and said, "Five more minutes…"

You smiled lightly and began to tickle the bottom of her feet. She immediately jumped up and rolled away from him. You raised a questioning eyebrow but said, "Breakfast is ready. What did you do? Seems like some research."

Ina shook her head, "I couldn't sleep. I just…read some stuff and thought it would be good to take down a note or two."

"Oh yeah. Definitely a note or two here." And you motioned at the massive amount of papers.

Ina scoffed, "Just leave so I can change. Tell my mother I'll be down."

"Alright then." And you closed the door behind you. You walked down the stairs and went to where the wonderful alchemy smells were. You saw Ina's mother still making food and her father drinking coffee at the dinner table but…'Where's Jonah?' You still looked around and his voice wasn't heard anywhere in the house. You heard Ina come down wear a casual shirt and skirt. You turned to her and asked, "Where's Jonah? I don't see him or hear him."

She stopped next to you and looked down at the ground, "Well the thing about that…"

-223-

You sat there and thought about what they explained. 'Telekinesis…but the Lusideu Sons were long gone hundreds of years back! How could…maybe…that person or whoever she is…is right…' You shook your head and said, "I'm sorry for your loss. For only knowing him in such little time, he was a good lad."

"Thank you Nate," Ina's mother smiled, "We have no idea why he was taken from us. It might be because he's a young boy and they need young men in the garrison."

'Fat chance,' you thought ruefully, 'He's part of a dead tribe that's not supposed to exist. Who wouldn't take advantage of the opportunity to have someone with telekinesis?' You glanced at Ina who stared at the table. You pursed your lips and you wanted to say something but nothing came to mind. Ina's mother stood, "Why don't we have breakfast now? You all must be starving."

You nodded and Ina's father laughed. You glanced at Ina again and poked her arm. She looked up with those sad eyes and it felt like a knife stabbed right into your heart. "Ghhh…" you softly said but managed to say, "You, uh, alright?"

She nodded but, of course, you weren't convinced. You ate with the family and they had nice conversations. Eating with…with who? You were frustrated by the thought of not knowing. You felt like you remember but once you grasped the memory it just lets itself go. 'Is eating with a family always like this? It's weird.' However, you ate as much as you could. Ina's mother enjoyed at how much you ate and said, "I'm sorry ma'am but it's just that I haven't tasted anything this good."

After breakfast, you went with Ina to help her with chores. First thing was to always collect lumber for fire. She was carrying most of the lumber since you still had aches. As you walked with her back to the house, you said, "Come on, you don't have to carry all of those. I can carry some weight for you."

She laughed, "With those skinny arms? I think not. Plus you're still hurt from the fall. I'm surprised at how quickly you recovered from that."

"Ah well…" you hesitantly said, "I guess you can say I can heal faster than usual."

"I'll say. It would have taken me weeks to recover from a fall like that. You? Only one night and you're back on your feet! Geez you must be like a super knight or something."

You laughed and helped her set the lumber down next to the door. You wanted to ask about her weird notes on the Lusideu Sons and stood up to ask but she interrupted you, "Want to come help me clean up my room Nate?"

"Uh…okay."

All of a sudden she dragged you close and whispered, "It's not chores or anything. I just want to talk to you about something…"

She shoved you back a little and walked back inside. 'The hell…? Ugh…women.' And you briskly walked after her.
