I remember. I used to, at least, before Valentine's Day. But it's my fault she remembered too, remembered everything.
Len and Rin walked home together, all the while one was skipping happily, and the other taking slow, but fast enough to not get let behind, contemplative steps. As soon as they got home, Rin greeted the empty house with a very loud "Taidaima, nya~", and proceeds to dump Hachune on the table near the genkan*. Rushing inside, Rin dumped her bag on the table beside Hachune too; meanwhile, Len sighed and stooped over take his shoes out and continued inside. A poster near the entrance didn't escape his sights, as the eyes of a famous president bore through him. Hegrimaced all the way to the unoccupied shower.
After they bathe and had changed, they proceeded to the backyard to train. Their small house had high walls, which allowed them to train without being seen by people. Although, there were not many neighbors either, so there were not many distractions in their routine, This was routine every day, school, training, school, training; as long as they were not assigned a mission, they would go on training with each other. Moreover, it was really lucky that there were not many people around during training time, since Rin was always the coach.
"Alrighty~ Let's start nya~". Rin jumped up and down excitedly and in a cutesy manner, waving her arms.
Len murmured then sighed. He's been doing that a lot lately. "Better get this over with..." Len stretched his muslces. Although it was just just a practice session, Len had to take this serioslu. Rin's lectures and trainings tend to be . . . different.
"Now, our first order of business," Rin refered to her clipboard while handing Len a toothbrush.
"Rin," Len said looking at Rin. "What's this?"
"It's a toothbrush, what else?" Rin said, cocking her head to the side.
"No, I meant, this is my tooth brush," Len argued, but Rin continued on, ignoring him.
"This is our first lecture of the day, nya~. The importance, the procedure, and the importance of clean and pearly white teeth ^_^" Rin flashed a smile.
Len facepalmed; but chise not to say anything as they spent a good hour learning how to clean teeth. After that session, Len's teeth were quite sore and over scrubbed.
"Great job, nya~. Now," Rin threw the toothbrush away, and turned until she was facing a sack dummy. "It's physical training time, nya~."
Len nodded, not sighing this time. As strenuous and tiring as Rin's training is, Len found that he looked forward to these sessions. He always felt exhilarated as adrenalin rushed through him, pumping endorphins into brain with each kick and punch. The time he's most alive is when he's in action, not just staying and waiting for her to come. He didn't want to be a good do-
"Nya~" Rin interrupted his thoughts, running past him. When she stopped running, she looked back at Len and did the peace sign. Len was confused, but as soon as he moved one finger, his clothes ripped into shreds.
"Yaargh!" Len cried, covering himself. "Rin?!" He cried out. When did that happen? He thought internally.
"Self-defense 101, lesson two," Rin said wagging her finger. "Kick the chopper in the ***. Remember that, all right?" She lectured as if it was the most normal fact ever.
Len growled. Inwardly, he was slapping himself for letting his guard down. "That won't happen again," Len said while rushing towards Rin. Rin moved aside; she raised her arm to chop when Len grabbed making a move to toss Rin over him. However, when Rin flew in the air, she wrapped her legs around Len's head and with when her hands touched the ground, she flung Len over her. Len crash landed three feet away in a pile of sakura leaves. "That was a new wrestling move I invented," Rin said as she brushed some imaginary dirt off her. "It's called the Nya-bomb."
As he picked himself up, Len groaned. As he rose to stand, Rin held out her hand.
Be a good boy, alright.
Len quickly shook his head, trying to drown out the voice. He pushed away her hand and stood up by himself. Darn it, remembering it now.
Rin stared at him, but smiled when she saw he wasn't that hurt. Satisfied with the training session, Rin concluded that day's training.
"Hey, buy some red beans now will you? I'm hungry nya~." Rin said with a smile.
Such an innocent gesture, Len thought. He felt mildly angry at the thought, but he pushed it at thenack of his head. Better to go and get those beans before she hitshim in the chopper again.
Without a word, Len went inside the back door of the house, grabbed a bag, and left through the front door. He thought he heard Rin saying goodbye and see you later. However, when he looked back, Rin was waving at him with a happy expresssion.
Len blushed at that, but sweatdropped after. She wasn't waving at him, she was waving at the spot next to the door, specifically where the poster of her favorite "idol" was.
Len knew all too well who she was waving to, and he internally grimaced. Putting a hand to his face, his gaze turned to the bag at the genkan.
"Isn't it time for you to call him?" Len asked Rin.
"Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me, nya~" Rin clapped her hands in glee and leftto make an international call.
Perfect. Len thought. He took te oppurtunity to throw the Hachune outside the door. Then went to rifle through Rin's bag. He stumbled upon a flash disk. Hurriedly, he pocketed it and went out the door.
He turned and walked away, not looking back. After a while, he started running.
