You would not believe how difficult Phoebe was. I'm still not completely happy with her chapter and it is subject to change however I'm receiving ideas from others and myself faster than I can keep up. So here she is. I hope you like it.
Since she moved out Phoebe Halliwell didn't notice it right away, the visitors that her Nephew, Chris, seemed to receive without a moment's notice. Often they were accompanied by a fluttering noise, like the wings of a bird fluttering as it landed or took flight. More often than not these visitors fluttered away right before someone else entered into the room. It wasn't until Phoebe was babysitting, and having a hard time with her book trying to decide what to write for her book, she didn't even have a title for it yet. She loved Coop, really did, but didn't know how to write out the journey she had undergone without making it seem like she was still in love with Cole. Wyatt was off playing by himself in the other corner of the room but Chris seemed to want to stick by Phoebe. He giggled up at her and smiled.
"Man I wish you were big again kiddo. I could use some advice on love without snark." Paige and Piper were happy about Phoebe and Coop getting together and both had good reason to loathe Phoebe's former husband. Chris blinked before he threw out his hands. And Phoebe laughed brightly. There was a gentle tapping on the glass doors to the conservatory and she looked up sharply. There was a woman dressed in a pair of light jeans and a soft rose off the shoulder shirt. Her hair was mousy brown and cut to frame her face but not show it off. It was as if she didn't want to stand out in the crowd. Still dangerous things came in simple packages.
"Are you Phoebe? I've heard about you! The whole Cupid Temple is abuzz with you and Coop!" She grinned brightly and wiggled her fingers at Chris. He gave a shriek and she was surrounded by orbs and brought into the room. "Awe hey little guy! Sorry I haven't visited lately I've been over in Europe. Those people are so tricky to get it right." She smiled brightly and knelt next to Chris. "I'm well… You can just call me Cupid if you like."
"Like Coop?" Phoebe blinked and she waved her hand in a 'so-so' manner.
"Well really I'm one of the Cherubim responsible for finding love among humans and bringing people together. We started the Temples and made 'Cupids' as you call them simply because it's such a heavy work load I mean there are so many people!"
"Cherubim?" Phoebe blinked. "Aren't those the Angel babies in diapers? With the cute cubby little faces and the harps?"
"Ha no. More like giant fireballs the size of a Chrysler Building with three faces and between two and four sets of wings." She tickled Chris.
"So what are you doing here?"
"Well we have a Nephew in common." She smiled and kissed Chris' temple before she moved to side next to the Middle Halliwell.
"Wyatt?" The Psychic Witch got an eye roll for that.
"Christopher." The Cupid replied pointed to him. He giggled and waved at his Aunts. "He's a Nephilim."
"Nephi-what?"
"Nephilim, Son of an Angel and a Mortal Woman. Leo Wyatt was a go between Angel known as a Whitelighter at the point of his First Son's birth. However for his Second Son's birth he was a Throne, though you Wiccans call them Elders. Since he was in the position of True Angel Chris is a Nephilim and Wyatt is not." The mousy haired woman shrugged and looked over Phoebe's work. "Stuck on love are we?"
"Er yeah… Look it's not that I don't love Coop with all my heart because I really do. I mean he's fantastic and I adore him and he got me to believe in love again." Phoebe looked at the computer screen. "It's just Cole was I thought he was my One for the longest time. And I met myself when I was older. I still loved him."
"Love isn't straight forward, one of the many reasons we made the Temples. Love twists and turns. You aren't the first person to have their ribbon fray and snag."
"So what do I do?" Being Psychic it was honestly easy for Phoebe to ask for help. She didn't have all her powers back yet but she was getting closer to it. She had to rely on others a lot of the time both with and without her powers. Besides she highly doubted Chris would bring a dangerous person into the House.
"Write honestly. Say you wanna get out and take a walk? Help get the juices flowing?"
"I can't I've got…" There was another fluttering noise and suddenly Eric Bragg was standing there. "Eric?"
"I am not Eric. I am Castiel." He said in a complete monotone.
"Hey Castiel were you busy?" The Cupid asked but it was quite clear that it didn't matter as Chris tugged on Castiel's trench coat and offered him a soft green block with pleading eyes.
"I am free to look after Christopher and Wyatt for a time." He was building a small tower before he even finished the sentence. Phoebe opened her mouth to say something but lost it as she felt herself be spirited away in a rustle of wings.
"Don't worry Castiel thinks the world of Chris, besides he's a Warrior. He won't let anything touch a hair on his or Wyatt's head. Now then, about your book?" They were in the middle of some beautiful park. Phoebe knew better than to try to fight with this. Her life had been so weird, besides she remembered her Nephew mentioning a man named Cas a few times before… She forced herself to think of her book and not her dead Nephew.
Phoebe made a lot of headway after talking with the Cupid and she worked hard at the Bay Mirror as well. She looked into the whole Cupid thing with Coop who seemed shocked that she was visited by an actual Angel.
"Well I understand that Chris is a Nephilim but I didn't think he'd be able to summon an Angel until he was older. Perhaps it is because he's Special."
"What do you mean special? Leo said that too when that freak Loki came around." Billy demanded, she had come over for a visit and Phoebe had been talking about the Cupid and how she was advanced in her book.
"Well Chris is a Nephilim with a Soul, he had the Grace of an Angel and the freedom of a Human." Coop said softly.
"So what?" She frowned. "How's that make him special? Isn't Wyatt that way too?"
"No you see because Leo was like me, more like a Saint than a True Angel, when Wyatt was born he is not a Nephilim. Chris on the other hand was born when Leo was a True Angel and therefore Chris has Grace, basically Angel Magic. Now normally Nephilim aren't allowed to have Souls because that would make them just as powerful as an Angel. But in some rare cases the Father neglects to ensure that the Birth happens before a Soul attaches to the Vessel, or body. Leo wasn't an Elder all that long so I can't imagine they explained those rules to him." Coop shrugged and looked at his ring. "Chris is powerful, just as powerful as his Brother, in some ways more so. It will be interesting to see which side of him he will fully embrace. Witch or Angel?"
"He's so going to be a Witch." Phoebe said with a smile, remembering the way that her Nephew hunted Demons.
"Indeed Christopher shows many signs of following his Wiccan Heritage." The monotone of Eric Bragg made everyone jump.
"I know you! You were playing with Chris that one time." Billy accused and Phoebe blinked. The blonde next to Er – Castiel looked like a Sorcerer that she and Paige had defeated years ago.
"Why is it you Mortal Women always squawk? You don't see men doing it?" He asked in a dry British voice.
"Who are you and why are you in my house/" Phoebe tensed up, ready to rumble.
"Cassie here wished to speak with your Cupid. There's a lot going on in the coming years." Coop looked concerned and stood.
"No way you're not just going to trust them are you?" Billy demanded and Phoebe narrowed her eyes.
"Who are you?"
"I have told you, I am Castiel. This is Balthazar." And like that Phoebe was throwing an Athame at the blonde. He blinked and the dagger was gone.
"Oh please be a little more original than that." He muttered and shook his head. "I've been around for thousands of years. It's no surprise that a Demon would steal my name and change around the spelling."
"I don't believe you." Phoebe snarled.
"See that's what I'm talking about. You aren't squawking or squeaking. You're getting vicious."
"Balthazar perhaps you should not provoke the ire of a Charmed One?" Castiel asked calmly.
"Phoebe, trust me." Coop said and made her look at him. "These are Angels, real honest to God, Angels. Not Demons. He isn't really Cole in disguise." He smiled at her. She gave the blonde a glare before looking at her Cupid.
"I don't like it."
"We can return at a better time."
"No we can't." Castiel frowned at his companion, as if he could force him to agree or he was constipated. Phoebe felt herself start to laugh and couldn't help it. She burst into laughter. The Angels didn't appear surprised, well Balthazar looked amused and Castiel wore a poker face to beat them all, Coop looked confused but hopeful and Billy appeared to think they were all crazy. She took a deep breath before leveling a stern expression.
"You hurt my man and there will be trouble." She nodded and gave Coop a deep kiss. He smiled and they went to speak outside.
"How can you just let him go if you don't trust the men he's with?" Billy asked.
"Because you have to learn to trust otherwise you get really neurotic. Trust me." She thought again of her Big Little Nephew. "Besides saving your boyfriend from danger and yelling at the ceiling is all a part of being in the Halliwell Family." Billy huffed and Phoebe giggled. "Welcome to the Asylum Billy!"
Phoebe couldn't quite get used to Balthazar's name and thus she shortened it whenever he was within eyesight to Zar. It made her think about Russia. And not the Demon she had loved. Currently he was sitting on the couch watching Titanic with her.
"Why doesn't the bloody ship just sink already? Damn! And the man doesn't have to die! The twit could give her life jacket to 'im and he's be warmer!" He was ranting almost every other scene. It was almost more amusing than the movie. Chris was playing hide and seek with Wyatt and Castiel. He fluttered into existence between Balthazar and Phoebe. She blinked. "Well looks like you're beginning to master the art of flying."
"What? He can already orb!"
"So?" He raised an eyebrow and smirked at her. "It's better to not be quite so flashy sometimes. Good job kid." Chris beamed, proud of himself.
"Shouldn't you be seeking Wyatt and Castiel?"
"Cas." Chris pointed to the corner of the room. Phoebe blinked but then the Angel appeared from thin air, without making the flutter noise. Chris smiled and clapped his hands before orbing away. There was a shout and then a squeal as Chris located Wyatt. Phoebe smiled softly and noticed that the Angels were relaxed as well. Both of them glanced up before seeming to sigh. Chris and Wyatt appeared and looked between Balthazar and Castiel. "Go?" Chris murmured plaintively. Castiel knelt down and ruffled his hair lightly before he stood and looked to Balthazar.
"Sorry munchkin. We'll be back and hopefully your Aunt will have better taste in movies." He said with a smirk before they were gone with a flutter of wings. Phoebe didn't even have time to defend herself as Wyatt and Chris started to laugh. She huffed.
"See if I give you candy again." She murmured and soon found herself on the receiving end of large wet eyes and wobbling lips. She grinned before picking up both Wyatt and Chris and hugging them tightly. She could feel something coming, something dangerous. She hoped that whatever Castiel and Balthazar had wanted to talk to Coop about it didn't involve the brief flashes she was getting in her sleep. She felt the boys looking up at her and she smiled down at them, pushing away those dark thoughts. She had better things to spend her time on, like spoiling her most adorable nephews.
