CHAPTER 1: ENTER HIKARI

Yukimura Seiichi and Yanagi Renji didn't know what to expect when their teacher told them they were getting a new student. They didn't know what to expect when they saw the door of their classroom slide open. But they just knew that they were certainly not expecting a pretty brunette girl wearing Rikkai's male uniform to enter and say, "My name is Tezuka Hikari. Nice to meet you."

Well… this year just got a lot more interesting.

They knew that they shouldn't jump to conclusions. I mean, there were tons of people with the last name Tezuka in Japan. But they couldn't help it. She just looked so damn similar to that no-nonsense, stick-in-the-mud captain of Seigaku!

But a little voice in the back of their mind said that it couldn't be true. The two were so different. The Tezuka they knew was diligent, uptight, and stoic while this… girl was laid-back, uncaring, and had the most annoying smirk on her face. However, they couldn't ignore the obvious similarities between the two.

"Does anyone have any questions for Tezuka-san?" Yanagi took this chance and quickly raised his hand.

"Yanagi-kun?"

"Are you perhaps related to Tezuka Kunimitsu, tennis captain of Seigaku?" Her eyes hardened and she glared.

"What if I was?" The closed-eyed brunette was not fazed by her hostile attitude and continued.

"I'll take that as a yes. What are your relations with him?"

"None of your business!"

"Okay, I think that that's enough questions for now. If you have any more, please ask her in your own time," the teacher cut in nervously.

HIKARI P.O.V.

The bell rang, signaling the end of class. I checked my schedule. "Next we have… English."

"Excuse me?" I looked up and growled. It was that damn squinty-eyed brat from earlier.

"What do you want?" I hissed.

"You still haven't answered my question," he pointed out.

"Maybe I don't want to answer your damn question," I retorted. He ignored me.

"How are you related to Tezuka Kunimitsu? Are you a sister? A cousin?"

"I don't even know you!"

"My name is Yanagi Renji. So… what are your realtions with Tezuka Kunimitsu?"

"Oh my God! It's none of your fucking business!"

"I'm sorry. Renji's just a very curious person," a soft voice spoke. A… boy(?) stood in front of me. He had navy, blue hair and a kind smile on his lips. I gaped. After seeing this guy, all my beliefs of there being no such thing as a perfect being were thrown harshly out the window once again, the first time being when I was with my brother. I quickly regained my composure.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked rudely. He just continued to smile.

"Yukimura Seiichi."

I shook my head as I headed towards the library. Yukimura Seiichi and Yanagi Renji. They're such an odd duo…

I proceeded to open the door and let out a shriek… as a bucket of pink goo fell on my head.

"What… the hell… is this?!" My head shot to the side as I heard laughter. A guy with silver hair and mischievous, azure eyes came into sight, a smirk plastered on his face. I growled lowly as I saw the smirk. I knew that smirk… It was the same smirk I had whenever I was amused or smug. "Did you do this?!" He shrugged.

"Maybe." I clenched my fists.

"What's your name?" I questioned.

"Niou… Masaharu," he drawled.

"Well, Niou Masaharu. You are now on my Black List!" And with that I stomped off.

"Hey! It's rude not to say your own name after asking someone theirs!" I heard him call. I ignored him.

"Why is this school so goddamn huge?" I grumbled under my breath. I had been searching for the girls' bathroom for ten minutes and have been unsuccessful.

"Do you need some help?" I turned to find a boy with glasses that were made so you couldn't see his eyes, but I could tell he was alarmed when he caught sight of me covered in pink goo. He sighed and rubbed his temples.

"Oh dear… Did Niou-kun do this?"

"U-uh, yeah. I think that was his name."

"Were you looking for the ladies' room?" I nodded. "It's right over here." He led me to the bathroom and I awkwardly followed. What the hell? I don't even know him. Why was he being so nice?

"Uhm… thanks." He gave a 90 degree bow as I rubbed my arm nervously. He's so weird…

"OW!"

"UGH!"

What the hell is up with this school?! I had been peacefully walking when I turned at a corner and something slammed into me. I groaned and looked up. Wide, emerald eyes stared down at me. My back was flat against the floor and a boy with wild, curly, black hair was straddling my waist.

"Oi, Akaya! Are you trying to take advantage of your senpai?" I saw a redhead and a boy with dark skin approaching us from my position on the ground.

"Akaya…" The dark-skinned boy frowned. "…I thought you were better than that." The seaweed-head on top of me frantically shook his head.

"No! It's not what it looks like, I swear!"

He was about to say more when a deep voice bellowed, "AKAYA!" The boy, Akaya they had said, suddenly paled so much you could've mistaken him for a ghost.

"That voice…" He was then abruptly pulled off of me. I got back on my feet and saw a tall, well-built man holding "Akaya" by the collar. He bowed.

"I sincerely apologize for my idiot kouhai's (underclassman's) behavior." I nodded hesitantly. As what he said registered in my mind, my eyes widened.

"Kouhai?! You're in middle school?!" I exclaimed before quickly covering my mouth. I inched away as a black aura seemed to seep out of him.

"So we meet again," an amused voice said. I swiveled my head and groaned. It was the four weirdoes from earlier. The squinty-eyed jerk, the perfect being, the odd gentleman, and the conniving bastard.

"You know her, Seiichi?" the tall, stoic man asked the perfect dude. He nodded.

"She is Tezuka Hikari, a relative of Tezuka Kunimitsu. Most likely his sister from her inferiority complex that she seems to have with him." The tall man froze as I scowled at the information.

"Tezuka… Hikari?" He slowly turned to look at me. He then sighed in frustration. "You've been causing a lot of trouble within the Tezuka household, haven't you? I almost didn't recognize you." A light bulb went off in my head.

"Genichirou?" The Sanada family was known to be close to the Tezuka family. Well, more like rivals. The men were anyway. Most of the women in both families were calm and quiet… I don't know what the hell happened with me.

"You two know each other, Fukubuchou?! (Vice-Captain)" Akaya shouted.

"She is Tezuka Hikari, and she is indeed the younger twin sister of Tezuka Kunimitsu," Genichirou confirmed.

"Do you play tennis?" Yukimura asked. I nodded. After being properly introduced to everyone, the regulars of the tennis team had insisted that I joined their practice.

"Are you any good?" I shrugged before smirking at the silver-haired idiot.

"Probably good enough to kick your ass."

"Is that a challenge?" His azure eyes glinted.

"No, it's a promise."

"Then why don't you play against me right now?"

"No thanks, pretty boy. It'd just be a waste of my time."

"Then would you like to play with me?" Yanagi asked, stepping forward. I grinned.

"Now that's what I'm talking about."

THIRD P.O.V.

"Rough or Smooth?"

"Smooth." The racket twirled. It landed.

"It's rough."

"Service."

"End." Yanagi backed up to the service line. He threw the ball into the air. "Just to warn you, the percentage of me winning is… 100%" The ball connected to the racket with a SMACK! It flew past Hikari. Right when they all thought the ball would go out, Hikari bolted to it and smacked it hard to the other side of the court. The action surprised Yanagi and he wasn't able to return it.

"15-0!" Marui, who was refereeing, shouted, also slightly surprised. Yanagi made a note in his mind not to let his guard down. He served once again. They rallied for a bit. Then Yanagi started to attack.

"75% of a smash." Hikari's eyes widened at his prediction, but it was too late to change her course and she was forced to hit a smash. Yanagi was ready for it and hit a cross-court shot.

"15-all!"

"That's the data master. One of the three demons of Rikkai!" Hikari composed herself and smirked.

"Data tennis, huh… I hate data players, they're so annoying… but they're always a challenge. So you're one of the demons. Well… That just makes things more interesting, doesn't it?" They continued the game and soon, it was 4-1, with Yanagi leading.

Hikari was bent over, her face dripping with swear as she panted. Then something bubbled up her throat and giggles escaped her lips. Her giggles became louder until she was practically cackling. "This… This is great! It's amazing! I knew it! I knew that I made the right choice when I decided to enroll in Rikkai. All of you are so strong! I could tell the second I laid eyes on you! Yanagi Renji, you are a worthy opponent! However, I will now go all out. I won't hold anything back! Your defeat… is 100%!"

Everyone was silent as Hikari threw the ball into the air. "Shooting Star." She bent back until her hair touched the court and sprang up to hit the ball. It slid on the ground and the ball dug into the court, leaving black smudge marks here and there. "Like a real shooting star… It took me forever just to train to get enough stamina and power and then even longer just to hit it. It took about a year… but it was so worth it. This was the move that I used to gain my first point against my brother." As the game played out, you could tell Yanagi was getting slightly pushed back. Hikari was slowly, but surely, catching up.

"4-3!" Hikari served the Shooting Star again, but froze when it he returned it and it bounced past her. "15-0!"

"The only other person who has been able to return that was Kunimitsu…" She looked at Yanagi. "You…" Her lips twitched upwards. "You're good."

"A chance of you hitting a lob, 89%" She lobbed. He smashed.

"30-0!"

"Data never lies." They started another rally. "Chance of a drop-shot, 92%" He ran to the net and softly hit her drop-shot back to her side.

"40-0!" Hikari thought for a second, before her signature smirk reappeared.

"Data may not lie… but it can be changed." She took off her weights that she hid under her sleeves and socks. "You're really something, pushing me into a corner like that. But unfortunately for you, I've played stronger." The rest was a blur. It was finally 5-4, match point Hikari. They rallied and Hikari barely managed to hit a powerful shot from Yanagi. The ball hit the net. Everyone watched in anticipation to see which side it would fall into. The ball finally tilted forward and landed… into Yanagi's side of the court.

"Game, Set and Match, 6-4. Won by Tezuka Hikari!" They both walked to the net and shook hands.

"You know, you're a real bastard." Yanagi raised an eyebrow. "You sly motherfucker…" Niou snickered. "You damn asshole!"

"Is there a point you would like to make or are you just insulting me?" he cut off.

"You… You totally went easy on me! You didn't even bother to take off your damn weights!" Yanagi's lips turned upwards slightly.

"So you noticed."

"Of course I noticed! I'm not an idiot!"

"I never said you were."

"But you were implying it!" Sanada sighed as the two bickered.

"Hikari hasn't changed at all…"

"Genichirou, what did you mean when you said that Hikari-chan was 'causing trouble in the Tezuka household'?"

"…I believe that that is something Hikari should tell you herself," he answered tensely. Yukimura hummed.

"Alright." The two stopped their conversation as a phone rang. Hikari rummaged through her bag and fished out her cell phone.

"Hello? Oh, hey, Kura! Really? That's awesome! Yeah, of course! How about we meet on Sunday in front of the zoo near my school? Is 11:00 good? Great! See you then!" The regulars were definitely NOT eavesdropping on her as she talked on the phone.

"Hm, it seems that she has someone close to her. A boyfriend, perhaps?" Sanada stiffened at Yanagi's prediction.

"A-a-a boyfriend?! No, I won't allow it!"

"Is someone jealous?" Niou teased.

"NO!" he denied. "I had recently gotten a call from Hikari's mother. She had made me promise that I would look after her. I didn't quite understand then because I didn't know about her transferring, but now that she is here, it is my duty to make sure she is safe. And a… boyfriend is out of the question!"

"Then let's follow her," Yanagi suggested.

"…What?"

"If we follow her, we can find out who her boyfriend is," he clarified. Sanada shook his head.

"A member of the Sanada family would never stoop so low!" he declared.

Eight figures hid behind a bush as they stalked-ahem, I mean watched a wavy-haired brunette stand in front of the zoo at 11:00 AM. From behind the bush, five words were spoken by a deep, gruff voice.

"…I hate all of you."
