Evanescence could faintly hear a voice calling to her.
"Evanescence. Evanescence please wake up."
Another spoke with a reassuring tone, "Now now. You can't force her to come to before her body is ready."
Evanescence forced her eyes to open and was surprised to see Neo's golden mask looming over her. "Neo?"
He expelled an audible sigh. "Thank the Sovereign you're alright."
The teenager placed her palm on her forehead. "I don't...what happened?"
Neo shook his head. "I don't know. I was going to ask you once you were well again."
Suddenly a thought occurred to Evanescence, as she realized that the ceiling she was looking at was not familiar. "Am I home?"
"No. You are not. I brought you somewhere safe."
"Safe?"
A humanoid suddenly appeared next to Neo, floating with her two pairs of leaf-like wings. She appeared to be clothed in an upside down pink flower, green gloves that ended at her elbows with yellow flowers as trimming and she wore boots with a similar yellow flower design on them. A flower the same color as her dress graced her head like a hat with vines billowing out to represent hair. "Good, she's awake," She clapped her hands together and moved closer. "How are you feeling?"
"I uh..."
The humanoid flower girl giggled. "Oh, I bet you're surprised to see me. There are not many humans that come around here."
"Where is 'here'?"
"Why the Lillymon Forest, of course." She giggled again.
"Lillymon, she has never been to the Digital World before."
Lillymon's hands flew to her cheeks. "Oh! I thought because she...you brought her here she was from here."
Neo shook his head. "No. She is from the Real World. But as she was terribly injured I brought her here because I knew that you could help her."
"Ah yes. I am one of the few around that will help anyone in need. Especially because you are still in trouble."
"I know that I am, you need not remind me."
"Sorry."
Evanescence frowned. She felt more confused than before. "What is going on?"
Both looked down at her.
Neo spoke, "I found you injured in your parents' bedroom. I brought you here to Lillymon so that she could help."
"How long have I been out?"
"About a day."
"A day?!" Evanescence repeated, stunned.
"Well, you had two lumps on the back of your head, I believe you were suffering a concussion. I was able to gather enough herbs to prevent anymore damage," Lillymon pulled a bowl from a cupboard and flew over to the bed. "I needed you awake to give you the rest." She held the bowl out to Evanescence.
It was filled with a murky looking liquid.
Evanescence wrinkled her nose at the earthen smell. "I have to drink that stuff?"
Lillymon nodded, smiling brightly. "It will help with the pain and swelling."
Evanescence made a wry face. "I am not drinking that crap, it smells awful."
"Now Evanescence," Neo started in a gentle tone. "You must drink the potion. It will ensure that the swelling of your brain will not increase any further."
"I don't care, I feel fine. I am not drinking any of that crud."
Lillymon's smile faded. "But you must!"
Evanescence turned her head away. "Nope..." She squeaked as her upper body was suddenly being lifted up. "H-hey!"
Neo held her up with one of his clawed hands. "It is for your own good."
"I am not a child!" Evanescence growled, sitting up more so that Neo did not have a hold of her.
Lillymon suddenly flitted out of the room.
"Where is she going?"
"I don't know."
Evanescence sighed, a pang of guilt tugging at her conscious. "I didn't mean to offend her or anything."
Neo placed his hand upon her shoulder. "I know, my love. But you mustn't shun the help someone offers you."
"I guess...you know I've never had help from anyone. No help, no one to shun."
Lillymon returned from the room she had gone to, beaming. "Here we go!" She held the bowl out to Evanescence.
She looked into it. It was now pink, similar to Lillymon's flower color. "Uh."
"I put extract from one of my lilies into it, it will make it smell and taste better without interfering with what the medicine is meant to do."
Neo took the bowl from Lillymon. "You never fail to amaze me, Lilly."
Lillymon giggled bashfully, a pink blush to her cheeks. "Oh don't be silly, Neo."
Evanescence frowned and took the bowl from Neo. "Yeah yeah..." After staring at the bowl for a moment, she took a tentative sip. She was surprised to find that it was indeed sweeter than she first anticipated. "This is pretty good." She quickly downed the rest of it.
Lillymon clapped her hands together. "Wonderful! It will take a few minutes for the potion to set in. You should try to get more rest." She took the bowl from Evanescence and disappeared once more into the next room.
The teenager settled herself back down on the bed.
Neo carefully ran his claws through her hair. "Sleep, love. If you're well tomorrow, we will leave."
"Are you taking me home?"
"That is not your home. I wanted to speak to you about a matter that has come to mind."
"What is that?"
"Due to the destruction your parents cause at home and the constant danger they pose to you, I think it is time you stay elsewhere."
Evanescence's brow furrowed in confusion. "Elsewhere? Where can I go? I have no other family that will take me."
"We will find a home together, here in the Digital World."
"Wh-what? Can we really do that?"
Neo nodded. "It would be easier to find a place to live here. In your world you must have such items as money to survive. Here you do not. Food is abundant in different regions and there are many helpful types of Digimon."
"But there are dangerous ones too...and you were killed before, Neo. What if that happens again?"
"Fear not, my love. With my previous death they believe I am still as such and I will not be pursued. And I will not go anywhere that my presence will provoke anyone."
Evanescence pulled the cover up to her chin. "I don't know...being here is so strange."
"We do not have to stay in this region. Or the Digital World, for that matter. I will find a home for us where ever you would like. As long as we are together, that is all that matters to me."
Evanescence stifled a yawn. "I like the thought..."
"Sleep now, love. We can decide tomorrow."
"Yeah..." Evanescence closed her eyes and slipped into slumber.
