It didn't take long for a group of agents and local police to join Watari outside the building.
"I'm glad you could make it A, were you able to get the document?" Watari asked shaking hands with a tall dark haired man in a police uniform.
"Right here." He handed an envelope to Watari.
"Went right to the judge after I got your call. Managed to get you in there the day after tomorrow."
"Excellent. What about the child?"
"Kid's gonna have to be checked out at the hospital before anything's official, It's just standard but if you open the envelope, you got a court order that will hand the boy over to you for now, starting when we take him into custody. You sure you want to do that though, I mean who knows what that kid.'s like, he could be-"
"What if I had said the same about you A?"
"Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm gonna go take care of this dirtbag in here." A made his way to the house and knocked on the door.
"I'm gonna need you to open this door, I'm with the police." He called sternly. Two others joined him, rushing past Watari. Suddenly, a bush need the house rustled and Watari turned his attention to it. He titles his head for a better angle, as he watched the child appeared. He sat very still, watch A and the others before running at full speed down the street unnoticed by everyone else.
"You little escape artist." Watari thought out loud while following the child.
Watari watched as he turned doen a side street, it was almost as if he knew Watari was there. When the old man turned down the same street, he was amazed to find nothing but an old fence and some barrels. His years of experience had shown him that there was always a way to find what you were looking for if you searched carefully and patiently.
He carefully checked the barrels but found them empty, next he made his way to the fence, tapping on each board until he came to the last one, he knelt down and peered through the the small space, he didn't want to frighten the boy by tearing it off and making him feel even more threatened.
"You don't have to be afraid little one, I'm here to help you, I just need you to come out." Watari waited but the boy didn't come.
"There is nothing to worry about, I am not going to hurt you, I-" A crash from behind him caught the man's attention and he turned to catch sight of the child as he rushed back down the street. Watari followed quickly but wasn't fast enough. out his phone and dialled.
"A, he's coming back your way I- no I didn't catch him, that boy is very quick and clever, looks like if he doesn't want to be found he knows exactly what to do to avoid it." Watari paused.
"A, if you see him, be gentle, he's been through enough." Watari ended his call and sighed.
"You poor child, what has your life been like, you must have gone through someonething terrible." He thought out loud. He made it back to A just as they were putting the child's father in the car. The man was shouting.
"That little bastard doesn't deserve anything more than he got, he's a murderer, killed my wife, it should have been him!"
"A child that small, a murderer?" Watari shook his head.
"Yeah, child's mother died having the kid, father blames him can hear. Get him outta here boys."
"That isn't his fault, he didn't ask to be here."
"Guy kept sayin' how the kid's mom wanted him and loved him, only for him to take her life. Can you imagine hearing that kind of stuff, kid probably isn't old enough to understand yet but still. That's the kinda stuff that gets to a kid."
"Losing a loved one is hard, but no excuse for this, I take it you didn't see him then?"
"No. We were in the house when you called, I came out but he didn't show."
"Don't you think it would be a good idea to call it in to the station, put out an alert, or go look?" Watari asked.
"Yeah, look I just finished-"
"A, you have an entire team here, they could have finished this."
"I'm going alright, relax."
"You may not be at the house anymore, but I'm still the one that looked after you, fix your attitude, you're a grown man act like it."
"Yes Watari." A opened his car door and did as he was told. Watari decided to continue looking, he feared what might happen to the young boy.
"Watari, where-"
"I'm going to look for him, and I suggest you do the same."
"I gotta get back to the station, the boss-"
"A, if something happens to him , you'll have a lot more to worry about than your boss. I suggest you get going."
"Yes Watari." A replied reluctantly, he start the car and drove slowly down the street.
