Chapter 2
Yoshi laid in a dazed stupor, with his mind somewhere between sleep and consciousness for ten minutes.
Eventually, his eyelids fluttered open as he gradually entered the realm of consciousness.
As he was lying down, naturally the first thing he saw was the sky. He could tell from it that it was night time, but there was something different about it; namely, there seemed to be two moons.
What? Exactly what the hell did I drink? Yoshi thought to himself, shocked and confused.
Yoshi rubbed his eyes. To his surprise, when he removed his hands, the moons were still there.
Yoshi slowly got up. His first attempt at this ended in failure; his legs were so wobbly that they felt like jelly to him, quickly giving out beneath even his low weight.
A second try yielded more success, as he successfully managed to make it to his feet, albeit shakily. This granted him a chance to take in his surroundings.
Around him were trees; pale moonlight still blanketed the ground so they weren't so densely packed where he was, but diretly ahead of him he could see the tree cover becoming denser, the canopy allowing gradually less light in the further it went. Turning around, it quickly became clear to Yoshi that he was on the edge of a forest, as the trees began to give way to a large expanse of grass that stretched almost to the horizon. Closer to the horizon, the land sloped up as if to touch the moons themselves, smothering his view of anything beyond them.
This place doesn't seem familiar... Yoshi thought to himself.
Yoshi saw something red 10 meters away from him. As Yoshi moved closer to it, he realised that it was not just red, it was blue as well.
As he moved even closer to it, he saw its face. His eyes widening as he recognised what he was looking at.
"Mario?" he queried hesitantly.
Mario did not answer, probably due to fact that he was still unconscious.
Yoshi ran up to him. He grabbed Mario by the shoulders and shook him. Mario's eyelids started to flutter.
"Mama-Mia..." said Mario, "This is the best ravioli ever".
"Mario, wake up!" urged Yoshi.
"Go away, Bowser, you fucking turtle", mumbled Mario as he rolled over onto his left side.
"Wake up! It's me, Yoshi!" shouted Yoshi as he started shaking Mario more vigorously.
Mario mumbled something that Yoshi didn't quite hear.
Yoshi sighed, removing his hands from Mario's shoulders. "I've got linguine cooking"
After hearing this, Mario jumped up about ten feet into the air, immediately gaining full consciousness. Yoshi rolled his eyes, making no effort to mask his disappointment after viewing the exact outcome he had expected.
Mario looked around. "You haven't got linguine cooking, have you?" he asked in dismay.
"Well done", retorted Yoshi with yet another roll of his eyes.
Mario sighed as Yoshi began to laugh at his friend's antics.
Suddenly Mario spotted something on the large expanse of grass moving towards them.
"Look, Yoshi!" said Mario.
Yoshi stopped laughing to himself, "Hmm? What do you think that is?"
"Dunno", said Mario as Yoshi rose to his feet.
As the thing came closer, Yoshi realised that this was something entirely new; like nothing he had ever seen.
It seemed to be some sort of creature wearing amour and its skin seemed to be blue. It was carrying some sort of gun way more advanced than any gun that could be found in the Mushroom Kingdom. It was wearing a mask over its face that only left its eyes visible. It was comically short as well.
It fired at them. Mario dodged just in time.
"Well, this thing is definitely hostile" observed Mario.
"Man that thing's small, but I've never seen a gun like that before", replied Yoshi, as he clenched his fists.
"Either way, it's going down!" exclaimed Mario as fire began to form in his hands.
"Let's do this!" fired Yoshi.
