A/N: Thanks for the feedback of which Dragon Type I should choose!
I cleared my head and thought about all the different type of Dragon Pokemon I could get but one stood in my head right from the beginning! Lance glanced at me and smirked as he knew I had made up my mind.
"I want a Dratini, Lance!" I screamed as Lance chuckled and nodded.
"Great pick, lil bro!" Lance reached into his Pokeball pendant and detached it from his neck and handed it to me. "This Dratini is special, it knows moves that other Dratini wouldn't know at his low level, but down worry Dragonite and I will help you out!" He smiled as I gleamed with happiness at the Pokeball in my palms.
"Hunny, I hope you know what you're doing, Dratini is a Dragon Type after all, I'm not sure if you'll be able to handle it, Dragon Types are hard to train." My mom said as I began to rethink this whole ordeal of even getting a Dragon Type.
Lance saw the sadness that took to my face, "Mom he'll do just fine, I know Daniel better than you or dad, trust me he'll have no trouble at all!" Lance smiled at me as he began to speak up again, "So let's head into the backyard and start your training."
We all headed to the backyards open field as Lance set out his Dragonite!
"Draaaa!" Dragonite roared.
Mom and dad took to the benches as I went to the opposite of the battlefield. I released Dratini from its capsule as Lance began to teach me Dratini's moveset.
"Okay lil bro, Dratini knows 4 moves, Thunder Wave, Dragon Dance, Iron Tail and Twister"
"Okay, I got it! Dratini you ready!" I asked as Dratini turned his head and gave a nod as it moved it serpentine body around the battlefield.
"Well atleast we know Dratini likes you as its trainer!" I smiled at that as I shouted out the first command!
"Dratini let's start things off with your Twister!" Dratini's body twirled beautifully as a huge maelstorm of wind concocted out of nowhere and darted straight towards Dragonite!
"Dragonite take to the skies and come down with your Dragon Tail!" Lance ordered as Dragonite jolted out of eyesight and took to the skies. Dratini stopped its attack as Dragonite came crashing down spinning into its Dragon Tail attack.
"Dratini use Thunder Wave!" Dratini's fins on its head opened up wide as electricity crackled and spit onto Dragonite stopping his attack dead in his tracks! Dragonite couldn't move and just fell flat onto the battlefield.
Lance's eyes opened up as he smiled heroically, "Well, look at that! You've managed to cripple my Dragonite... for the time being!"
"Dratini hurry and use Iron Tail before he can move again!" Dratini's tail glowed a magnificent white as Dratini propelled itself into the air and flipped crashing down it's tail onto Dragonite cause a whole immense amount smoke to be brought up from the field.
Lance gave a crooked smile as the smoked cleared and we could see Dragonite holding the tail of Dratini as Dratini fights eagerly to get out of his grip! "Dragonite finish it off with Outrage!"
"Dratini use Twister" I screamed!
Dragonite let go of Dratini as a dark shroud aura appeared around Dragonite as flames seemed to emanate from within his eyes. Dratini spun forcefully as he could targeting the Twister at Dragonite as Dragonite let go with a dash and tore the twister apart and started mercifully hitting, scratching, punching and then finally swinging his tail and flinging Dratini into my arms.
"Dratini!" I called as I held him in my arms tight, "You did an amazing job out their!" Dratini nuzzled my cheek as Lance held out his arm for me to get up.
"I must say, I didn't expect you to give me such a run for my money, sorry but if I hadn't gone overboard with that last attack, you could've won me!" Lance laughed as he itched the back of his head.
"Stop lying to me Lance, I couldn't have beat you!" I laughed as he put both hands on my shoulders, "Daniel, listen to me and listen to me very carefully. You are going to be a really strong trainer, I know that! So after you beat all 8 gym leaders then you can fight me, one of the Elite Fours! Who knows maybe they might make you an Elite Four also!" We both smiled and went back into the house to eat some food before we got ready for bed.
I let out both Bulbasaur and Dratini to sleep next to me as they both seemed to want to play with eachother rather then sleep. With a little bit of scolding from my mom, they settled down and we all let sleep get the best of us.
The sunlight shown through the window and pierced my sleepy eyes causing them to be alert and wake. Bulbasaur and Dratini were already downstairs with Lance by the time I finished brushing my teeth and showering and getting my clothes on.
"Morning lil bro!" Lance quickly gave me a plate filled with bacon, eggs and toast. I quickly dug in as Dratini and Bulbasaur were eating their Pokemon Food that Lance gave to them. "Well I'm going to be leaving Daniel, we have a challenger that beat 2 of the Elite Four so if he beats Agatha then I have to face him." Lance got his back and said his farewell as I got my things and returned both Bulbasaur and Dratini to their Pokeballs.
"Mom I'm going now!" I said as she gave me a hug and told me goodluck and to check in often.
I left and made my way onto Route 1 towards Viridian City. While on Route 1 I saw this purple mouse as I took out my Pokedex and the computerized voice started to speak.
Rattata the mouse Pokemon. Rattata bites anything when it attacks. It is small and very quick and is a very common sight in many places.
Then I saw a bird Pokemon as I put the Pokedex in its direction.
Pidgey the Tiny Bird Pokemon. Pidgey is a common sight in forests and woods. It flaps its wings at ground level to kick up blinding sand.
Whenever we came across then I'd alternate using Dratini and Bulbasaur so they could get practice in.
"Bulbasaur use Razor Leaf on Rattata!" Bulbasaur let loose a barrage of leaves spinning fearlessly at Rattatta and knocked the Pokemon out.
"Great job! No Dratini your turn! Use Twister!" Dratini twirled his body letting out the raging winds to knock Pidgey right out from the sky and crash into the tree branches until it hit the ground.
Soon after walking a bit and fighting every Rattata or Pidgey we saw, Route 1 came to an end and we entered Viridian City!
