Didn't edit this too much.
Thank you so much for the reviews! They definitely made my day/week and I just had to write more XD. I've noticed that some of you have set your mind that the mysterious boy is Ikuto. Here's my pet peeve in writing: when the writer puts an obvious 'mystery' to the story, I'm not going to agree or contradict with any of you or that would be bad in my part for 'spoiling' and letting you have narrower conclusions on how the story may end (which I absolutely hate). But I want you guys to remember that the boy had a different color hair ;) Just making you guys think here...Anyways, now that we're done thinking for the day, ENJOY READING! XP
The telephone rang in the living room. She had installed it a day after she moved in. Amu was in bed, asleep when the phone kept on jabbering, garbling, and gawking. Or at least to her it was. Perhaps it had something to do with chickens from her blurry dream. It wouldn't stop. She put her pillow over head, trying to block out the noise when she remembered about the requests she had made about renting the rooms. They were the source for her other half of the rent. Her eyes snapped opened and tried to bolt out of bed, only to be tangled with bed sheets and roll on to the ground with a large thud.
"Ooowww," Amu complained as she rubbed her side and struggled to get out of her web of blankets. After several epic moments she managed to free herself only to be slammed at her closed door. Still the telephone kept ringing. They must be really desperate thought Amu. She opened the door but tripped on nothing and heard the sound of glass breaking. She'll look at it later. She snatched the phone.
"Hello! This is Amu! Would you like to request for a room?" Amu asked as she gasped for air She looked out the curtain hidden window. Light barely was able to pass the skinny curtains. It was darker than she expected.
"Er, I'm from a flower company and I was wondering for the benefit for the company and you and our other customers, you can complete this survey," said the person on the other side of the phone with a slight Indian accent. Amu glanced at the clock 2. If she remembered correctly, her shift started at 1:30 to 5. She suddenly became petrified, she'd be fired on the first day. Amu shifted uncomfortably, forgetting all about the telephone and pulled on her work-form. She quickly dragged her bags and screamed when she noticed a spider behind her sock and knocked the clock in the process. As she laid there with the clock she stared at it. AM. AM. A-M. For some reason the letters looked quite annoying, they were nagging her, bothering her. Why? AM..morning. Her mind was going blank. What did that man with the funny beard say? You can start work at 1:30 in the afternoon. In other words, PM. She groaned loudly.
"Er..hello? Hello?" went the Indian accent. Amu snatched the telephone angrily from the ground and said in a drowsy voice, even as she said it she could feel herself falling back to sleep,
"Well, you can shove that survey up your ass, honey."
"You look absolutely awful," was the first sentence the stranger said to her. Amu stared blankly at her, quite hurt. It just didn't seem normal to say someone so straight-forward about ones appearance. But despite of her first instinct, Amu couldn't exactly disagree with this blond pigtailed girl. Her hair was sticking out in all possible directions, she had black pouch under her eyes and for some reason her neck insisted on leaning to the right, making everyone yelp at the sight of her.
"We can't let the customers run out the front door!" the girl said with some concern. Customers. Cafe. Job. Rent in half. That was why she was here, she was here to work. Images of despair flashed in her head and her fiery spirit of revenge jerked her back to Earth.
"Sorry! I was a little off! I'll definitely work hard today!" Amu said quickly and a little loudly. The girl looked a little more relaxed.
"That's great. I'm Utau. I'm also the waitress. Let's see, now that you're actually paying attention, I'll explain some things. It shouldn't be too hard since it seems that you have done jobs similar to this. Even though it's a cafe, there are a lot of waitress things to do. You take their order and you give it to our cook (they change all the time) and give it to the customers. Some of them want it to go which is usually when I come in and take their order. I guess it's a hybrid business," she said scanning the room. It was a very elegant place. The room was dim and there were tables and chairs scattered along the room. The carpet was thin and the color of wine and the walls, black.
The day didn't go too bad. Amu was able to somehow get through without spilling, yelling or tripping, which was always news to her. During the last few minutes, she cleaned up the place with Utau.
"Sooo, do you have a man yet?" she asked in a almost joking voice. The thought of Naoko made Amu wanted to puke.
"Nope," Amu replied, trying to keep her voice steady as she put the remaining food on a plate in a trash bag.
"That's too bad. What kind of man do you want?" Amu hesitated. Despite of living years in poor neighborhood, she had been confident he will somehow be successful and they'd get out of this cycle. Amu bit her lips.
"Someone who is rich," as she said it, she was even more sure of it. Amu wanted to live in a higher class, for once. As soon as she showed that stupid jerk that he's worth less than trash, she can finally relax and go to the college that she couldn't have gone because of the idiot. And perhaps marry her fiancé or something and life far off in the city. That seemed to be ideal.
"Really? I don't care if he's rich, I want someone who will love me forever and ever. But I guess he'll have to support himself too. That'd always be good!" Utau's purple eyes unfocused, signaling that she was in hyped dreamland. It was funny. Utau looked like the opposite of the girl who dreamed and thought about love life. Amu excused herself and went out of the building and upstairs where her house was. Amu stopped midway as there was in front of the door.. A young high schooler with orange hair grinned at Amu's appearance.
"Hi! Amu, right? I'm Yaya! You said you wanted someone to rent your room? I'd love to!" she said energetically. Amu grinned and hurried her inside. The whole place was absolutely a mess but the girl seemed to be used to it. Even when she stepped on to some shards of glass. It was a good thing that she was wearing slippers.
"I'll clean that up. You can choose any of them except mine," Amu mumbled as she carefully scooped it up the fragments of whatnot and threw them away. After several minutes Yaya called for her.
"This room looks nice and comfy!" she said energetically inside one of the larger empty rooms. Amu nodded in agreement.
After a contract was exchanged, Yaya moved all her things, which was a good large amount amd added to Amu's small pile of other furnitures in the living room.
"Now, it actually looks like a house!" Yaya said proudly. Amu gave her a smile and went back to her room. She needed 9,000 yen. Naoko got it from her, and she had gotten it from months of starvation. If she was going to be a singer, even for a little while, she'll need to be appealing. Looking anorexic was probably not one of them As the sky darkened, Amu visited a clothes shop. The next Easter show was supposed to be 6 months from now. It may sound late but time, she knew from experience, can disappear quickly. Also, the earlier, the better. There were hundreds and maybe thousands of people who want to join but only 50 slots available. Usually sending in an "optional" well preformed video did the trick. She'll have to buy one of those HD video cameras later.
As soon as she arrived at the expensive store, the assistances looked extremely nervous. Okay, wrong word. Perhaps shaken up by annoyance? They glared at her as she nervously touched the fabrics until one finally piped,
"That's really expensive. In fact everything here is too expensive for you, Miss." Amu stopped to face the speaker. Her fingers lingered at the sleeve of a real animal fur coat as she used all her might to not hurl swear words and eventually left the building but immediately regretted it. Now it seemed like she was too shocked to say anything and was defeated. Her anger bubbled as she stomped through the giddy street decorated with lights and people scurrying around to visit the stores. She glanced at a tall building at a distance.
Then suddenly as she looked up she saw a large strange figure falling down, down, down. She wasn't the only one who noticed. Several people were pointing at the strange figure.
"It's a bird!"
"It's a plane!"
"It's...!" the figure started to slowly spread and burst into tiny different shadows.
Paper cranes of different colors. Thousands of them for sure were fluttering down to the ground. There were several screams and laughs and some more shouting. Amu reached and caught a violet crane and held it carefully as if it was an egg. She got her face close to it and smelled tinted strawberry perfume, her favorite.
"Yo, Amu," greeted a stranger from behind. She spun around. There stood a tall man with midnight-blue hair and matching color eyes. He was wearing all-black and carrying a violin case.
"H-how do you know my name?" she stuttered.
"Oh, I saw you post those posters up on the walls. I actually took them down. You're not suppose to put them up on private property without permission," he said. She frowned, she didn't know they were part of private property. It also explains why she hadn't had any requests.
"How do you know I got them without private permission?"
"Because I was sent to take them down."
"I-I see. I guess I'll have to ask around then! Er, and call me Hinamori. It seems...nicer. Nothing personal! Your name?" she asked.
"Ikuto. Ikuto Tsukiyomi."
Amu smiled, "well, I'm see you around, Tsuki-"
"Call me Ikuto," he interrupted quickly. She looked at him rather oddly and smiled, "well, then Ikuto-kun!"
"What are you here for?" he asked just before she turned to leave. Without thinking she immediately said, "To get revenge on Naoko Ioto on the show, Easter. Wish me luck!" Damn. Why in the world was she telling this to a complete stranger? "You?" He shook his violin. She grinned. They waved goodbye and left, never to meet again and after all, the city was quite large and just to add, the world may not be beautiful, but it is big indeed.
Or so she thought.
The next morning.
"What in the world are you doing on my roof?" the pinkette asked almost hysterical as she froze to see the blue hair holding his violin. He tilted his head curiously.
"Well, to start off, I live here."
After asking my friends to read this, they asked me how in the world does a shop function with only 2 waitresses. That's up to your imagination. Pretty much only the named characters are important. I'm sorry that this chapter was rather long, I tried to shorten it but I didn't want to leave anything out either! Please don't forget to review! Thank you! Yes, I changed the name Invincible Magic to Easter. It made more sense =D Please review!
