It is in the early morning of October 31 when Dave wakes up to the sound of his kids. Like on any other morning Dave gets up and walks across the hall and into their room. "Good morning and Happy Halloween everyone. How are my little angels this morning?" All six little munks jump to their feet and reach over the edge of their cribs trying to get Dave's attention. "Don't worry little ones I got time for you all." Dave says with a small chuckle.
Dave realizes what day it is and a large smile comes across his face when he thinks about how great of a day it will be. "This will be my first Halloween with them and I can't wait to take them trick-or-treating. I hope they love the adorable outfits I had specifically made for each of them." Dave checks the time on his watch. "I guess I'll have to wait for that since its only 9 o'clock in the morning and trick-or-treating isn't until 7 o'clock this evening. Well I guess until then we have a full day ahead of us."
Dave picks up Alvin, Simon, and Theodore and places them on his right shoulder. Then he picks up Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor and places them on his left shoulder. Dave then heads downstairs to feed everyone breakfast. In the dining room Dave places everyone in their respective highchair. After everyone is seated Dave leaves for the kitchen to prepare their breakfast.
"What is Halloween?" Alvin asks the others. Everyone shrugs at the question except Simon. "Of course Simon knows. He always has an answer."
"It's a holiday like Easter but kids like us have to go house to house to ask adults like Dave for candy. Also we have to wear costumes. I believe they call this trick-or-treating." When Simon said candy all bets were off, they all grew the biggest sparkling eyes you could imagine. All six of them had their heads full of the thought of getting piles among piles of sweet delicious candy. Just then Dave walks back into the room with their color coordinated bowls full of their favorite breakfast.
"I have everyone's favorite today."
"Oatmeal!" Everyone yelled happily.
Dave takes his time feeding everyone spoonful after spoonful of oatmeal. Alvin swallows his as fast as it comes to his mouth. He is distracted by the thought of all the candy he will get. Simon eats at a calm pace waiting patiently for Dave to get back around to him. Brittany and Jeanette are distracted by their thoughts of what their costumes could possibly be. Theodore and Eleanor eat calmly but still small amounts of food manage to fall onto their little baby bibs. After everyone is done eating Dave cleans them up and places them in the living room to play for a bit.
"Play blocks with me Alvin." Brittany says as she pulls Alvin over to the blocks.
"Okay, okay I'll play blocks with you Britt." Alvin and Brittany play with their blocks trying to see who can spell certain words the fastest.
Simon and Jeanette walk over to the corner of the room and sit down. "What should we play with?" Simon asked.
"Let's play with the chalk boards." Jeanette answered while getting up and retrieving the chalkboards from behind her. Jeanette and Simon use their chalkboards to draw their favorite animals.
"Let's cook lunch." Theodore said.
"Yeah that sounds fun." Replied Eleanor. Theodore and Eleanor play in their little kitchen making food together. They help each other cook while they talk about their favorite candy.
"Eleanor what candy do you like?"
"Sour candy. What do you like?"
"Any." Theodore answered causing both of them to laugh.v
They all play nicely for a while until Alvin knocks over Brittany's blocks causing her to start crying, which draws everyone's attention. They all rush over asking what is wrong.
"Alvin knocked over my blocks and it wasn't an accident."
Alvin backs away from everyone. "She is lying. Brittany wouldn't share." This causes an argument between everyone which eventually making them all upset. When they all start crying loudly Dave rushes into the room.
"What's wrong little ones. Is everyone alright?" Dave checks everyone for injuries. "Well you all seem okay. Maybe all you need is your nap." Deciding to put them down for their nap Dave carries them all upstairs and places them in their cribs and covers them up with their baby blankets.
They sleep soundly until 1:30 in the afternoon when Dave decides to wake them up to change their diapers and feed them their lunch. After changing everyone he carries them downstairs where he feeds them their lunch of vegetables and fruits. Afterwards he lets them watch their favorite cartoons. They sit there watching TV while playing with their toys. All six of them had trick-or-treating on their minds.
Brittany turns towards to face Jeanette and Eleanor. "I bet I'll have the cutest costume on the block."
Alvin overhears Brittany and jumps into their conversation. "Yeah well my costume will be the most awesome one in all the world."
"Even if you go Alvin. Maybe Dave won't let you for being mean earlier."
"Britt, Dave doesn't know what happened and I will go. My costume will be better than yours."
"Whatever you say Alvin." Brittany said annoyed.
The others just face palm at their ridiculous argument. Their arguing continued up to the second their favorite cartoon came on. They were just so memorized by the show all they could do was sit there and stare at the TV. As they sat there together for a while they started to get relaxed. Brittany lays her head on Alvin's lap and instead of getting mad he let her rest there. Jeanette was resting her head on Simon's shoulder and Theodore was already asleep holding Eleanor in his arms. They must have slept for a while because the next thing they knew Dave was calling their names trying to wake them up to get there costumes on to go trick or treating. Dave got the boys dressed first starting with Alvin. Alvin was going as a pirate captain. His costume consisted of a blue pirate's hat, a red pirate captain's coat with gold colored buttons, and boots. Next was Simon who was going as Albert Einstein. His costume consisted of just a baby size lab coat, and a mask. Then Dave got Theodore ready, he was going as a baby pumpkin. His costume consisted of a hat which was the top of the pumpkin. There was the body portion which had eyes, a nose, and a mouth stitched on it. Next Dave had to get the girls ready. Eleanor was going as a pastry chef. For her costume she had a chief's hat, and a little blue apron. Jeanette was next. She was going as a little mermaid. Her costume was a rainbow colored mermaid's tail. Brittany was the finale one to get ready. Brittany was going as a princess. Her costume is the most elaborate with the dress being a combination of sky blue and a light turquoise. The dress was embedded with fake little gems which glisten in the right light. Her tiara is a bright shade of gold embedded with fake jewels. When Dave was done getting them all dressed he carried them downstairs and placed them in the stroller.
They left the house and headed down the block stopping at any house passing out candy. As Dave would push the stroller up to the houses to get the candy people would always comment on how cute the little munks looked in their adorable costumes. The munks just sat there talking about all the candy they were getting and loving all the attention they were getting for their costumes. They were trick-or-treating fine for a while Brittany made a comment to Alvin about sitting in front.
"I should sit up front. I look better than Alvin does."
"I need to be up here Britt. It's cold and my costume is thicker than yours. I don't want you getting cold."
"That is sweet Alvin." Eleanor said.
"It is. Thank you Alvin and I'm sorry." Brittany said.
"Its okay. I'm sorry too."
They were out trick-or-treated for another hour after this before heading home. When they got home Dave pushed the stroller into the living room and placed the buckets full of candy on the dining room table. When he went back to the stroller to take everyone out he noticed they had already fallen asleep lying on top of each other. Dave carefully and quietly took them out of their costumes and put their pajamas on. Then he tucked them into bed kissing each one on the forehead before walking out of the room.
