I'm BAAAAACK! Okay, so many of you guys have been asking for a second part to this, so I'm here to oblige. Of course, I had originally stated that this was a two-shot, then changed my mind. Well, I've changed my mind again. I'm just cool like that.
Part of the reason for my change of heart was something that happened back in June, when I discovered that somebody had stolen the first chapter of this story and posted it on Wattpad without my permission, claiming that they "had my permission". Please note that I did not know that Wattpad existed until I got a PM from one of my readers (who is awesome). This person literally copied everything, from the description and the entire story – even the title. Judging from their profile, they'd stolen a lot of other stories, which they got called out on. My mom said that if they stole it that it meant it was good, and they took it down after I messaged them about it so I guess no harm done, but still. At least it inspired me to finally write this second part.
Dedicated to ShadowVulpi for alerting me to the story-stealer and helping me and others report them, and for just being awesome! You're the best!
Note: This section is in Snivy's point of view, and it takes place after the game has ended, so if you want to avoid spoilers on the ending and post-game, DO NOT READ. Also, because in this Snivy has returned to the human world and I couldn't decide on her human name I just decided to have her call herself Snivy. Hey, my fanfic, my rules.
Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon. If I did, they would be real and my team would consist of Snivy, Umbreon, Charizard, Fennekin, Virizion, and Lucario.
Time traveled differently for Snivy now that she was back in the human world.
Snivy – it was weird for her to call herself anything else after all of the time being a Pokémon – found that returning to human life wasn't as easy as she had imagined. All of the people and places that she was supposed to know seemed unimportant in comparison to her friends from Paradise.
Getting used to the human body again wasn't easy, either – it felt unfamiliar and awkward. The only comfort she had was the fact that her friends and their world were safe. Still, it wasn't enough to numb the longing she felt. Especially for one Pokémon in particular.
Oshawott – quite possibly the best friend she'd ever had. They'd built Paradise together and had fought and won many battles. They were the best team, and they weren't the only ones that knew it.
Snivy missed him more than she was willing to admit. She missed their little house in the center of Paradise. She missed going to Swanna's for breakfast with Emolga, Virizion and Dunsparce. She missed going on adventures.
She missed Oshawott the most.
Maybe that was why she dreamt of him. Well, not just about him. The others were there – Virizion, Emolga, Dunsparce, Umbreon, Espeon, Keldeo, and Hydreigon – but the dreams mainly focused on Oshawott. It showed him and their friends – who for some reason didn't forget her – going through normal life but there was an obvious difference, specifically in Oshawott. He looked sadder, like he wasn't enjoying the adventures. Finding treasure and discovering new places didn't excite him as much as Snivy had seen him before. It tore her up to see him like that.
It was on one of the nights where she'd woken up from a dream and couldn't fall back asleep that it happened. Snivy was tossing and turning and punched her pillow a few times before flopping back down. She closed her eyes and tried to drift off again, but to no avail. With a groan of frustration she stood to get a glass of water. Snivy went to the kitchen, grabbed a glass and filled it with tap water from the sink. She took a sip and leaned against the counter, letting the quiet atmosphere of the house at night sink in.
Snivy lived alone in the human world, so she had the luxury of going to bed whenever she wanted. It helped that she was on vacation, just like when she'd left – apparently when she fell through the portal, time had stopped on her end. Snivy didn't understand how it worked but it helped her avoid weird questions from her family about where she had been, why she was acting so differently and stuff like that.
She had just set the glass back down on the counter when she heard an eerily familiar voice float through the air. Faintly, it said, "…ivy..." as though there was a disturbance that was keeping it from completely reaching her.
"Hydreigon?" she murmured, surprised that she was suddenly hearing from her only connection to the other world.
"Oh! Snivy!" Hydreigon said. His voice was much clearer now and she could hear the excitement in his tone. "Snivy! Can you hear me?!"
"Y-yes! I can hear you!" The moment that she spoke, a swirling vortex appeared on the kitchen floor. Though it disturbed nothing and just seemed to be sitting there, Snivy still jumped back in surprise.
"Snivy can hear us!" Hydreigon exclaimed. Wait, us? A new voice rang clearly out of the portal.
"Snivy!" it said loudly. She recognized it instantly.
"Oshawott!" she yelled back. "Oshawott, where are you?!"
"I'm at the Hill of Universal Order – Hydreigon brought me!" Snivy had literally no idea where that was. "We're going to try and bring you back!" That caught her attention.
"Bring me back? To the Pokémon world?"
"Yeah!"
"How?" she asked.
"If I make a wish here that you can travel freely between the two worlds, it'll come true!"
"But I thought that having a human in the Pokémon world –"
"That's only if it's permanent! If every now and then you go back for a little while, there won't be any danger!"
Suddenly Hydreigon interrupted them: "Oshawott, we have to go! The cave will collapse!"
"No! Not without Snivy!" her best friend insisted.
"Please, just go!" Snivy said. "It's not worth it!"
"Yes, it is! You are worth it!" Oshawott said. Snivy was touched; nobody had ever felt that level of devotion to her before.
"I know why it's not working!" Hydreigon said. "Snivy, you have to choose to come back!"
"Please, Snivy!" Oshawott begged.
She didn't hesitate and immediately looked at the portal and exclaimed: "I WANT TO GO BACK! TO THE POKÉMON WORLD!"
As soon as the words were out of her mouth, the portal turned a brilliant white and sucked her in. As she tumbled through the abyss she felt her body changing. It wasn't painful, just intense. She could see her reflection at some points and saw that she had transformed into a reptilian Pokémon with a slender build. She was green with a cream underside and a yellow stripe running down the length of her back and tail, and yellow markings around her eyes. Two curved yellow structures that resembled leaves and bent backwards protruded from her shoulders. Her slender arms had three fingers, while her tiny feet had none. She had a large, palmate leaf with three prongs at the end of her tail. She had been transformed back into Snivy, her Pokémon form.
She reentered the Pokémon world just as she had left it – in a floating golden bubble. The cave that Hydreigon and Oshawott were in had stopped collapsing. They were standing at the edge of a cliff watching her float down towards them. The bubble hit the ground and released her, and Snivy stood on the rocky cave floor for a moment before she was almost tackled in a hug by Oshawott. She hugged him back, and as she did so she heard the words she had been hoping to hear since she left:
"Welcome home, Snivy."
Okay, okay. I know a lot of people were expecting a kiss or a declaration of love, but… I just want to leave it here. I think that all of that stuff would come later. Not that I'm going to write more. Though I may write something for Virizion and Emolga, if given any ideas. *hint hint* Hope you enjoyed it =)
