HI! I decided to continue since I loved the reviews you guys left in the first chapter :) It's a little shorter than the first one, but I really hope you like it!
I don't own OUAT
"Do you want me to finish the story tomorrow?" the woman asked.
"Why, Mommy?" Jay asked her yawning. The woman chuckled
"Because I bet you two are tired"
"That's not true!" Kale said rubbing his eyes. The woman smiled slightly "Please, Mommy! Continue the story!"
"Please!" both children said
"Alright, alright…" she said, not being able to resist her kids "A month later, Regina and Sophia grew closer, and surprisingly, with Hook too. It was strange, she always thought, that sometimes the person you'd kill by just looking at them ends up as a good friend. That's what happened with her and the pirate. At first they couldn't even be in the same room, and now they spent all day together, with Sophia, of course…"
Regina's birthday was in a few days. Sophia and her father were planning on taking her to a place they were sure the Queen would like. And the girl knew exactly how to make her go with them.
"Gina?" Sophia called as she entered the room. The woman was sitting at her bureau, brushing her hair. When she heard the girl calling, she left the brush on the bureau and turned around smiling.
"Hello, dear. What can I do for you?"
"Do you remember I told you that my dad and I go camping once a month?" the Queen nodded "Well, we were thinking about leaving today" she saw Regina's smiled fade a little.
"Um, well… how long will you be away?"
"A week" she felt bad at seeing her expression saddening, but she knew she'd smile again really soon.
"Oh…" she said looking down "Well, I-I would rather prefer you stay here at least two more days… But-"
"I wasn't finished…" the Queen looked back up at the girl "We're going to leave for a week and you're coming with us" she said smiling. Regina's eyes grew wide.
"Y-You want me to come with you?" she asked in disbelief. The girl nodded
"So? What do you say?"
"I'd love to!" her smile faded a little "Does your father agree with that?"
"He was the one who had the idea…" she raised an eyebrow "Why are your cheeks red?"
"What?" Regina asked bringing a hand to her face. The girl was right, her cheeks were burning.
"Do you… like my father?" Sophia smiled playfully
"What?!" she asked shocked "No! Why do you ask such things?"
"No, for nothing, it's just that your entire face is red now, so I assumed-"
"Can we just please talk about something else?"
"As you wish" the girl said "You just have to pack a few comfy clothes, we're going camping after all, and we have to get Daniel and Rosinante ready, too"
"Alright… When are we leaving?"
"Right after you're finish packing"
Before the girl could even end her sentence, with a flick of The Queen's wrist, she saw as a bag flew upon the two of them and some clothes flew into it. After that, it closed and landed on Regina's hands,
"Let's go" she said smiling. They both laughed and went to get their horses.
After Regina informed the royal Court she was going to be absent for a week, Sophia and she went to find Hook. He went to find his crew to tell them he wouldn't be around for a week and –to Regina's relief- he didn't tell them the Queen was going with them.
They traveled for a few hours before they stopped by a lake.
"We're here" Hook said as he got off his daughter's horse.
"What is this place?" Regina asked "I've never been here before…"
"This is Lake Nostros" Sophia said as Hook helped her off her horse "Some say its waters have magical healing powers or something like that…" she looked around and said "I'm going to find a tree to tie Daniel. I don't want him running away again" and she left.
Regina watched as the girl walked away until she saw something moving. She looked down and saw Hook extending his hand to her. She hesitantly took it, but when she reached the ground she tripped and fell into the Captain's arms.
"Are you alright, your Majesty?" he asked.
"I'm fine" she said quickly "I just... stepped on a rock…" Liar. She thought. She hadn't stepped on any rock; she was just too busy wondering why her heart began to race when she took his hand.
"Of course…" he said, relieved that she didn't notice he slightly pulled her to him when he saw her tripping.
They stood there for a while, but when she was about to tell him he could let go of her, she found herself unable to move. The Queen had made the mistake of looking up at the pirate's eyes. She felt hypnotized, like every time she looked into those blue orbs that seemed to shine only when she turned her gaze to them.
They suddenly heard a loud whinny and pulled away. When they turned around, they saw Sophia lying on the floor.
"Sophia!" the both shouted and ran to the girl. When they reached her side, they shook her slightly. She groaned and rubbed her head.
"Are you alright?" Regina asked, her voice full of concern "What happened?"
"I was just finish tying Daniel when my head started to hurt a lot, I felt dizzy and the pain increased and then everything went black for a minute" she said. The girl took a deep breath and then looked up at her father, whose eyes grew wide.
"What is it?" she asked at seeing her father's expression. He ignored her question and turned to the Queen.
"Your Majesty, may I have a word with my daughter, alone?"
"Uh, of course…" Regina said, slightly puzzled. She stood and walked to her horse. She tied it to a tree and walked around the lagoon, thinking about what happened a moment ago.
Sophia was completely fine the moment they arrived, and after what happened to her, she saw true confusion in her blue-brown eyes. Regina frowned. Since when were her eyes brown? 'Strange', she thought, 'I remember her eyes being blue with green when I met her… Is that the reason Hook is so worried about?'
Hook. She felt her cheeks turning red when she thought of him. She remembered him helping her off of her horse, the way her heart raced when she took his hand, the way he held her against him so she wouldn't fall, his deep blue eyes staring into her brown ones, and the short space between them. Why this man had such impact on her? Why was she even thinking about him?
'Because you feel something for him' said a little voice in her head.
She, the Queen, having feelings for a pirate? Regina laughed at that, but it faded as she thought about it better. Sure, she felt attracted to him, but who wouldn't? He's very handsome…
But there was something else that made her think they had something in common. Obviously she'll have to figure it out because she was clueless at the moment.
A hand grabbing her arm pulled her out of her thoughts. She turned around to see Sophia giggling next to her.
"Are you alright?" the girl asked
"Yes… Why do you ask?"
"I don't know, maybe because we were calling your name and you just kept walking?" she said raising an eyebrow. Regina chuckled
"Sorry, I was… thinking"
"About…?"
"Things" she simply said. The girl frowned
"Things? That's all I'm going to get?"
"For now, yes"
"Alright… It's getting dark, let's go back" Sophia said pulling Regina with her "Dad and I already set the camp; we guessed you could take care of the fire…"
"Of course" she answered and followed the girl to the camp.
A few hours later, the Queen, the pirate and the girl were sitting around the campfire, trying to warm up. Sophia was sitting between the two adults with Regina's arm around her.
"You cheated, you know?" she told the Queen sleepily "When I said 'take care of the fire' I expected you to go get wood and turn it on with rocks, not to conjure a fireball and throw it to the floor"
"That's the only way I know to light a fire"
"That's not true…" she yawned "You told me that you and him used to watch the stars at night and he thought you how to light a fire"
"That's-"
"True" Sophia cut her off. She yawned again "I'm going to bed. Good night Dad, good night Gina" she said
"Good night, Sophie" both adults said. Sophia smiled and went inside the tent Hook had assembled, leaving the Queen and the pirate alone.
There was a long, uncomfortable silence until Hook spoke
"So…" he began "Who's 'him'?" Regina looked down at the fire
"Someone who is long gone…" she said hugging her legs.
"Ex-lover?" he guessed. Regina turned to him. She'd noticed something in his voice. He sounded… hopeful?
"Fiancée" she corrected.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked" he apologized
"But you did, and I answered because you wanted to know…" she said. She rested her head on her knees and looked back at the fire "Have you ever lost someone you loved?"
"Yes. Her name was Milah" he said staring at the fire as well. Regina shivered "Are you cold, your Majesty?"
"I'm alright" she said, and shivered again.
"Here…" he said and took off his coat. He placed it over her shoulders and rubbed her back with his good hand to warm her. Regina felt her chest fill with warmth, and not because of the coat. Her eyes fluttered at his touch. She sighed.
"Thank you" she whispered
"You're welcome, your Majesty" he said, still rubbing her back.
They stood like that for a while, in silence; the only sounds were made of a few branches and dry leaves burning in the fire. Hook felt something leaning against him. Sleepily, he turned his head to the side and found Regina resting her head on his shoulder, asleep. She shivered. He wrapped his arms around her in a warm embrace. The pirate smiled, taking in the beautiful sleeping woman in his arms. Her eyes were closed and her mouth was slightly opened; the rise and fall of her chest was steady and he could hear the rhythmical beat of her heart.
"Goodnight, your Majesty" he whispered in her ear. He placed a chaste kiss to her temple and drifted off to sleep.
He didn't notice, but the Queen smiled in her sleep.
Hope you liked it! :)
