Brennan walked to the bed and sat down. She took a deep breath and tried to remember her dream. Though she was trying to relax, she felt her heart racing and realized that, after that day, that night, that dream, nothing would ever be the same.
She took another deep breath and focused on the dream.
Brennan didn't usually remember her dreams but that particular one didn't seem to fade. It even seemed like a real memory.
She remembered being Christmas shopping with Booth. They were strolling in the mall, holding hands, when, out of the blue, Booth grabbed her by the waist, just like he does when he wants to lead her somewhere. But this time, he didn't push her anywhere, he pulled her closer, causing them to be face to face, their bodies pressed against each other. It definitely wasn't one of their "guy hugs", it was something different, something new, something he had never done before. Still, it felt so natural, like they had been doing it forever.
Feeling his hands tightening around her waist, Brennan responded embracing the back of his head and resting her arms on his shoulders. And, slowly, without any of them recalling the "line" that restricts the relationship with a co-worker, they leaned closer, until their lips met, surrendered to a sweet, tender and, again, natural kiss.
The part of Brennan that knew it was a dream concluded at that point, in that context, Booth and her were certainly a couple. Not an "undercover couple", like Tony and Roxie, but an actual couple. Weirdly, or not, that didn't seem to bother Brennan, given their interaction as a couple seemed even more natural than their partnership.
