America and Maxon Schreave continually true to pester their only child, Keegan, into having a Selection. When he stubbornly refuses, the couple find a sly way to get a future queen. Finding five of the best candidates, unknown to Keegan, they make entrances as America's "aides". Will the young prince fall in love?

2. Prologue

Chapter One – The Decision

"For the last time mother, I am not having a stupid Selection! Its not like love exists anyways, so what's the point? Just marry me off to Princess Arabella or something," Prince Keegan Schreave exclaimed for the umpteenth time. He was stubborn in his opinion and unwilling to change.

Some people call it attitude, but King Maxon calls it 'America's Genetics'.

The twenty year old prince took a little from his mother and father. He has short honey colored hair and striking blue eyes. Although America and Maxon both hoped to have a big family, they only had one child, Keegan, and hadn't had any more.

America sighs after Keegan leaves the room. It was the last argument they would be having before the decision.

The one that changed all their lives.

America's POV

"Maxon, what are we going to do?" I ask at King, frustrated by Keegan's stubborn attitude. "We need a princess and there are the Asians and French, but I want Keegan to find true love."

Maxon decided to interject. "Which he believes doesn't exist. Maybe he doesn't need a Selection."

Now Maxon is taking Keegan's side? All the Asians and French care about are alliances and they are so not going to be related to me. "What do you mean?"

"Well, maybe we've just got to be more discreet about. You know, like bring girls into the palace without Keegan knowing…"

"But there can't be too many," I thoughtfully add. "Maybe ten will do."

"That's too obvious. Ten girls put of the blue? Maybe five," Maxon suggests. "The problem is, how is he going to find true love in five girls? And what are we going to say they are there for?"

I think for some time. "Public opinion. The best girl with the best background. Palace staff would have to pitch in – Lucy and Aspen shouldn't have a problem pitching in. We can say the girls are.."

"Your aides?" Macon offers.

"Yes!" I exclaim. "Since when did you become so smart?"

Maxon pulls me into a hug. "Whenever I decided that you were the One."

Things might seem rushed and short, but they will slow down and get longer. The next chapter will star Keegan and his life.
