Hello everybody! New chapter! Woohoo! I know I'm really late, don't sue me!

Chapter two: A Third Sarano Child?

Jamie's POV

It's been a few weeks since Abby and I became real sisters. She was really excited to show me her lab, and her 'babies' as she liked to call them. Abby also showed me her farting hippo Bert...

Now Abby and I were down in her lab, me watching her do her job with a sort of punkish dubstep song playing when Keira came in roaring, " Jamie what the hell is this?!"

I didn't even give that comment a thought, " Oh, hey Keira." She seethed for some reason. " Don't just 'hey Keira' me! What the hell is this?!" She was wearing a suit, with her brown hair in a bun-really neatly in fact, I think Ziva did it for her-and she even looked pretty good in it.

" It's a suit." If it was possible, steam began to erupt from her ears, " I know that, why the hell do I have to wear it?! You two don't!" Abby turned to my seething best friend with a smile.

" That's because this is our uniform. We get lab coats." she explained. " Then I wanna wear a lab coat!" Keira shouted. " Ms. Sarano, if you want to wear a lab coat instead of a uniform, just ask." Director Shepard said as she entered. Keira turned around.

" Alright then. Director, may I wear a lab coat instead of a suit?" she nodded and Keira whooped. Ten minutes later she was dressed in a black and red ensemble with black platform heels and her makeup done by Abby. She had also pulled her hair from the bun and shook it into loose waves. Then she slipped on a lab coat-which was somehow speedily prepared-that had her name emblazoned on it.

She had been cleared as a NCIS agent a few days prior as well as I had, and the now worked at the office. Keira often hung out with everyone, but spent a lot of her time down with Abby and I. She also incorporated Flame as a service animal for the K9 Unit, although they weren't allowed to keep her.

Normal POV

Currently now, Keira was sitting at her desk which was placed next to Ziva's when her phone rang. She kicked the phone receiver out of the dock with her foot and it landed in her palm. " Sarano."

" Jamie and I need your help down here. C'mon! But first can you grab us something for lunch?" It was Abby. " Sure." Soon Keira returned with lunch for the sisters and walked into the lab wearing her coat and some black ripped jeans with a Paramore t-shirt on.

" Caf-Pow and (A/N: I'm guessing on what types of food Abby likes, if anyone knows for real, please comment and tell me.) roasted pecan salad with blueberries for Abby, chicken tenders with fries and a Shirley Temple for Jamie." Keira set down their separate lunches while they thanked her. The brunette nodded her head and sat down on a little rolling stool Abby had, eating her own lunch from Wendy's.

" Anything new on the case?" Keira asked around a small wad of fries shoved in her mouth. This particular case had been proving to be difficult and there were not many new leads. " Well First Lieutenant Ryan Cruz was questioned and polygraphed but he was cleared. His brother Jackson Cruz however, had a restraining order filed against him by his ex-girlfriend Melissa, and then Jackson started to get all...angry and stuff. I got a subpoena to take a blood sample from him and his BAC levels were through the roof and he also had traces of cocaine and prescription medication in his system. He would have been...crazy, totally blitzed out of his mind, and definitely danger to society, not to mention the fact that he could snap at any given moment. He would've been much worse the night of the murder. Lieutenant General Amy Hoffstater didn't stand a chance against him that night. I suspect he used a long piece of metal like a pipe to enforce a concussion and then he proceeded to beat her until he was sure she was dead. She would have been dead within about twenty minutes of her head injury." Gibbs walked up to Abby startling her for barely a second. " Good work Abbs." he gave her a kiss on the cheek.

" Kick his ass, Gibbs!" Keira called after him as he walked out of the lab. Jamie shook her head at her friends abrasive nature regarding a criminal or wrongdoer. That was just how Keira was.

...

" How much longer til we get the results on the bolo McGee put out?" Keira asked impatiently, wearing holes into the carpet from her pacing. She was in charge of collecting the car, and if possible, the suspect as well. It had been two hours since McGee had issued the bolo for the 2002 Toyota Avalon and there were still no results.

" Got a hit from the bolo!" McGee finally announced. " About damn time!" Keira jumped up and raced to his side, got the information, wrote it on a piece of paper she stole from his desk with a pen she also stole from his desk, and then bolted, grabbing Ziva with a rushed command of ' You drive!' as she dragged the latter to the elevator. Then they were gone with the lingering sound of Keira complaining that the elevator was purposefully going slow to piss her off.

Thirty minutes later, Keira and Ziva stepped off the elevator with a suspect held tightly between the two and walked past everyone on their way to the interrogation room, when Keira placed a coffee on Gibbs' desk and motioned for him to follow. He got up, grabbed the coffee and walked away.

" Did she pick up the coffee before or after she got the suspect?" McGee asked a couple of seconds later with his turned head in their direction. Tony had to raise an eyebrow. " Think about it, McTective; it's obvious she made the guy and Ziva wait while she got boss' coffee. Just seems like something that she'd do." the tech savvy NCIS agent took a moment to ponder the proposition before nodding his head in agreement. He was so busy and out of it that he didn't even notice or object to Tony's little nickname for him.

Keira stood in the observation room behind the one way glass mirror, watching as Gibbs interrogated the suspect she and Ziva had acquired within fifteen minutes. It had taken only about ten minutes to find him, then they hauled him into the car, Keira watching and glaring at him the entire time, then she rushed into the nearby coffee shop and got Gibbs his usual before speeding back to headquarters. This sonofabitch was a bad mother fucker and he deserved to go away in Keira's eyes.

She knew a criminal when she saw one. Tony came into the dark room and took her place, which she gratefully thanked him and left. Keira's parents had gotten transferred to the base here in D.C. so she'd had to move, but luckily or not, Jamie had found out she had a sister so they both went.

Jamie had been living with Keira and her parents for a couple of weeks after her parents' car accident that happened as repercussions of a police chase. Their car had swerved to get out of the way of a police cruiser and then they slid on the pavement, then flipped. Keira had gotten pissed and started screaming at the officers that they were careless idiots who needed to get a good slap upside the head. She hated police, but she loved her parents and NCIS.

" Are you almost done Abby?" the brunette asked the black haired forensic scientist who was working diligently to figure out the the strange substance of a piece of evidence. The blackette shook her head in the negative. " Not quite. Still have a bit of work left to do." she answered vaguely.

Keira sighed. Apparently Abby was having a bit of a difficult time collecting evidence for this particular case, so she wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings. She might as well get the gothic scientist another Caf-Pow. Flame and Abby's dog-whom she had to give to McGee-Jethro seemed to get along well enough.

Flame barked as she padded into the lab, her owner trailing behind with a fresh Caf-Pow in her hand. " Here." she said as she handed the beverage to Abby. The aforementioned woman accepted the drink and took a forceful sip of it before returning to her work. Keira decided to look over the evidence, and seeing as she had been cleared as a Forensic Scientist as well as a field agent, same as Jamie, she had every right. " Abby, I have two bullet fragments from the victim that needs to be-oh, hello Keira. How are you?" Jimmy asked as he walked in the lab. " Hey Palmer. How's the Duckman?" he said Ducky was fine, Keira took the bullet fragments from Jimmy and signed the consent form, managing to draw Abby's attention from the case to the paper and she signed as well before the specimen jars were handed over and Jimmy left. Leaving the Chief Forensic Scientist to do her job, Keira sat down on the floor and opened up her blue backpack, pulling out her purple laptop and her black mouse with a matching mouse pad. This laptop in particular was a Toshiba Satellite L50 B. Her bag had a number of keychains on it, mainly from anime. Letting the computer turn on, she began to get to work. Her fingers flew across the keyboard. The brunette continued to work until the phone in Abby's lab rang and she told the younger forensic scientist that the Director wanted her, to which Keira stood, shut down her laptop and left, upon threat that if anyone touched her laptop she would pump them full of lead.

" I'm here to see the Director." Keira said as she stood in front of the secretary's desk. " Director, Ms. Sarano is here." they heard Jenny Shepard's voice over the intercom. " Send her in Cynthia." the secretary sent Keira in. " You wanted to see me Director?" Director Shepard nodded. " Yes, I was wondering if both yourself and your parents were alright with having a microchip implanted in your body." Keira paused. " Well I'm okay with it. How about I bring it up to my parents tonight at dinner?" Director Shepard nodded and dismissed Keira. The brunette-whom had recently gotten highlights in her hair, red and purple highlights to be exact-continued on her way and got in the elevator, pressing the correct button.

She had gotten her hair highlighted two weeks ago and she was loving it. So much, she considered dyeing her entire head instead of just having highlights. Maybe an ombre look, starting with dark purple that fades into red...more thoughts on the plans for her hair flittered through her head as Keira made her way back to the lab, humming a tune on her way. Her phone rang, and she accepted the call. " Yes, dearest older brother?" a sigh was heard. " I'm on my lunch break, and I was wondering if I could spend the time talking with my favorite sister." she snorted. " I'm your only sister; remember, doofus?" he chuckled. " Ah yes, what a horrific tragedy. That I will never get to experience the glory of a tea party or know who Matt Damon is messing with now." his tone was highly sarcastic and the teen rolled her eyes. " Whatever, bro. Anyways, I bet mom and dad told you, but I got hired to work for NCIS. I'm a rising field operative and a forensic scientist." he congratulated her. The two talked as Keira made her way back to the lab and she got back to work on her laptop, still talking to her brother. Time passed and her brother unfortunately had to go. Once Keira was done with her laptop, she pulled a thick novel from her backpack and began reading. This is the scene that Tony found when he walked in the lab. Abby working, Keira reading a huge book on the floor and music blasting, as always. Her music choice this time was The Offspring. Taking a closer look at the novel Keira was reading, he found himself involuntarily sucked into reading it himself.

" Why is there a stripper actually on a pole?" Tony asked while reading over Keira's shoulder. She was reading a murder/suspense novel. " It's because the killer's nickname is Ace. He's like Houdini in a sense, except he kills people and leaves their bodies in impossible positions." Tony grimaced. " Wow.." he managed after a few seconds of silence. Keira shook her head. " Wimp." she accused, prompting Tony to scoff. " Are you kidding? I'm the most seasoned detective ever, nothing can faze me." he proclaimed and just as those words were uttered, Gibbs walked in delivering a sound smack to the back of Tony's head. " How about that? That faze you, Dinozzo?" he asked as he stalked by to check in with Abby. " Hey boss." Tony greeted, rubbing his abused skull.

The next day, when Keira came in, she was decidedly less cheerful. She wore her black Skullcandy headphones, a Black Veil Brides t-shirt and black jeans with distressed knees. Her backpack was held on her shoulder but she didn't have a grin or even a smirk on her face. It was downcast, and sad, tinged with anger. She dropped to the floor between Ziva and Gibbs' desks, hauling out her laptop and began typing on it with a fierce vendetta. In all honesty, it looked kinda like Ziva when she had gotten angry at the operating system on her own computer.

If Ziva picked up on the teenager's rotten mood, she didn't comment on it. Gibbs however, did. He got up from his seat and seated himself on the floor next to the brooding fifteen year old. " Somethin' wrong?" he asked. She paused, before resuming her typing. " No." was her clipped answer. Gibbs was silent. He was doing his 'I'm going to keep quiet until you tell me what's wrong' thing, as Abby had called it, Ziva realized.

Finally, the teenager let a sigh of resignation loose and stopped typing. " My parents and I got into it last night. A fight about my brother, as usual.." she said. " You have a brother?" Tony asked. " Two." she corrected lightly, before continuing. " The eldest, Jake, works at the Pentagon. My other older brother, Mason...well, that's the thing. I don't know. I don't know what he does, where he works, anything. My parents...they disowned him a few years ago, and we haven't had contact since. The fight I had with my parents last night, it was about Mason. I wanted them to let him be apart of the family again. I wanted my brother back. I remember when I was younger, if I got scared of anything, Mason was the first one I turned to, then Jake, then mom and dad. Mason took care of me; he made sure I got up in time for breakfast before school, walked me to my class, picked me up from class, essentially did everything a good older sibling would do. He even checked under my bed and in my closet for monsters, every night." Keira smiled at this, her lips curved upwards in a rueful smile.

" He knew I'd been afraid of monsters. Mom and dad didn't know that. Not even Jake did. In any case, Jake didn't have time for that either, he was working on tests and stuff. Mason was busy too, but he put it off to make sure I was happy before he went to work on his own stuff. He would stay up past midnight to study or do homework, and I would go to his teachers during my lunch period and beg them til the cows came home not to take it out on him or call our parents in case he fell asleep in class. I'd explain that he would take care of me because our older brother was busy and had to focus even more because he was going to graduate soon. In the end, Mason ended up passing the year with a B plus, but I think it's only cause I would go into his classrooms every day and beg the teachers until they called my own teacher to come get me. I'd never stop begging, even as I was being dragged out of the room by Ms. Sophie." she smiled once more, probably remembering such occurrences. Then, her smile turned into a frown once more and her eyebrows drew closer.

" Dad's adamant that he's never letting Mason come back, so is mom. They won't tell me why they disowned Mason, not even Jake will." Keira looked so despondent, she could've withered away if someone so much as blew on her. " I don't care why they disowned him, I just want my big brother back. Sure, Jake is a great brother, and I know he loves me-I do too-but it's just not the same." she paused in speaking to take a sip of her hot chocolate that she'd ordered. It was rich in taste, as if someone had dumped a few more packets of cocoa mix than normal int-

Wait..

" The secret is doubling it." two mugs of hot chocolate.

Four ripped open packages of mix.

A conspiratorial grin. Warm aqua eyes.

" Mason!" Keira shot up from the floor. Her hands were shaking. " What?" she just continued to stare at the cup. " Doubling it. Of course..." she muttered, giggles slowly building up from her small frame. Seeing the alarmed looks from her coworkers, she sat down again and assured them she was okay.

She slowly took another sip, reveling in the taste. Maybe it was okay that she wasn't sure where her brother was. It didn't matter, because he apparently knew where she was.

And he remembered, just like she did.

Double it up, Buttercup, she thought with a gentle upturn of her lips. Isn't that right, Mason?

And there it is! The chapter is over! *whistles* Damn, that took a long ass time. Sorry guys...*nervous laugh* At least I updated? Seriously though, I know listing off reasons I didn't update sooner will just annoy the both of us. My memory sucks ass, let's leave it at that. I couldn't hope to keep my attention on something for more than five minutes. Hell, I can't write or read stories without listening to music now. Please excuse any errors or typos in the chapter, we all know by now that I can't catch mistakes in my own work to save my life...Oy vey...

I'm hoping chapter three won't take as long to be written and uploaded. Sorry again, guys. By the way, here's a timeline about the whole Sarano disownment thing.
