"Where is Valentine?" Alec demanded from the Seelie Queen. The Queen leaned back on her throne and studied the two Shadowhunters before her. "We know you sided with him."

"It is true that I allowed Valentine safe passage in my realm, but I don't know where he is."

"You do know by helping Valentine you have violated the Accords." Jace wanted just to force her to tell them, where Valentine was, but with no weapons, that was not possible. "Valentine wants to destroy everyone with demon blood. That includes your people."

"It doesn't. My realm would protect us."

"Jace," Alec said under his breath. Jace hadn't noticed that the Seelie Knights were closing in on them. "We have to get out of here, now."

"I'm sorry, but I can not allow you to leave. Valentine asked for Jace alive."

"Take me, but let Alec go. Valentine wants me, not him."

"I can't let that happen, Jace." A sinister voice said from behind them. Alec nor Jace wanted to turn around and face the man walking into the room.

"Valentine." Jace hissed with venom in his voice.

"Hello, son," Valentine said, as he walked up to where the Queen was sitting. "When I heard that you were coming with Alec, I thought of just killing him. But my source told me to use him as a way to get you to cooperate."

Jace tensed when he heard these words. Valentine was going to use Alec to get Jace to join him. Valentine knew Jace would do anything to save his family.

"What makes you think that Jace would agree to this?" Alec said glaring at Valentine. If looks could kill, Valentine would be dead.

"Alec-" Jace started to say, but Alec cut him off.

"Jace, promise me. No matter what happens to me, you will not join him. Promise me, Jace." Alec said in a slight whisper, pleading him not to give into Valentine for him. "I can handle pain, Jace."

"I won't join a bastard like you." Jace spat.

"Very well, but you will join me sooner or later." Valentine smiled at him. Jace felt a shiver run down his spine. The Queen raised her hand, and Jace watched as the guards lunged themselves at Alec. Alec tried his best to fight them off, and it took four guards on each arm to secure him. Jace hadn't noticed the vines coming up his legs holding him into place, as he tried to run towards his brother. Alec was dragged in front of Valentine and forced to his knees.

"Meliorn take Jace and lock him in the dungeon." The Seelie Queen said, waving her hand for the guards to take Jace away. Jace was grabbed by the guards but fought to get free. "If you continue to fight you'll make it worse for Alec." Jace looked up and saw the way Valentine was looking at his Parabatai, Jace slowly stopped fighting. The sight of his best friend kneeling in front of his father with his head bowed not looking at Jace nor Valentine, made Jace's heartbreak.

What had he gotten themselves into?
