As I sat in the car about to start the engine, I felt my phone vibrate from my jacket pocket, I glanced round and Phil who was eager to get to the hospital.
"I'll be 2 seconds love" I said before looking at the caller display, my heart missed a beat when I seen the call was from Eddie, after taking a deep breath, I answered.
"Hello" I sad hoping to sound calm and composed, the last thing I wanted was for him to think I was upset.
"Rachel, Is Phil with you?" his tone was urgent and anxious.
"Yeah"
"Look, it's Mel, she's sick, did you know she only had one kidney?"
Of course I knew that, she lost it as a child after a really bad infection, that was one of the main reasons why Melissa had been treated so different as a child, she was spoilt slightly.
"Yeah, I knew, why, what's wrong?"
"Doctor's said it's under too much strain, Rachel, you and Philip, you both need to get here" he said in a panic.
"OK, won't be long"
I clipped my seatbelt in place, and looked at Phil should I tell him, he needed to know, and I had already resolved that if I could help her I would.
"Phil, that was Eddie" I started to say, unsure of how I would continue, but he had to know before we got there.
"Your Mum, she's sick"
"It's her Kidney, isn't it" he said back to me, I simply nodded, and started the engine.
