Timeless – The Airborne Toxic Event

Memory

"Tell me a storwy?" Dora asked, looking up at her babysitter with large, wide, bright purple eyes. "Wemus?"

Remus sighed – it had been a long day with Sirius and his little cousin – but he still settled himself on the beanbag next to Dora's bed, smoothing her covers down on impulse. "Just one." He said, with a ghost of a smile. "Then sleepy time, okay?"

Dora nodded, snuggling down under her covers and yawning.

"Once upon a time," Remus begun, yawning himself. "There was a beautiful girl named Dora-"

"Tell me a pwoper story Wemus." Dora accused, her eyes opening again. "One with interwesting pwarts."

Remus sighed again. "Well, this girl wasn't ordinary. She was a vampire, with fangs in her teeth." He paused, looking down at Dora, just to make sure that she wasn't scared.

"Go on." Dora replied, fascinated.

"And everyone knows that vampires only drink blood, so she kicked up a fuss when she was made to drink pumpkin juice, and drained the life out of the cat when her parents weren't looking…"

oOo

"Remus?" Tonks called up the stairs. "What are you doing up there? Teddy needs to sleep, and-"

"I was just telling him a story Dora." Remus appeared, placing a finger to his lips. "Remember? The one about the girl who was a vampire."

Tonks's face lit up immediately. "I remember that…" She trailed off. "How did it end?"

"You fell asleep." Remus grinned. "But I made up the ending in the last twenty years."

"What's the ending?" Tonks replied curiously.

Remus walked down to her, and whispered: "She meets a werewolf and they live happily ever after, of course."
