A Spark of Light

Chapter 2
What is a smurf?
I do not own the Smurfs, they belong to Peyo.
I only own my OCs, Angel/Angelic Smurfette and Peter/Playful Smurfling.
AN: I'm so sorry it took me so long to update. I'm in college now so I've been busy. I want to update more regularly though. Thank you for your patience. And if you could answer my new poll on my profile, I'd be so grateful. :)

"What on Earth?!" Angel cried in terror. "Blue! My skin is blue!" She was ready to scream. Not only had she seemingly shrunk, her clothes had changed to a simple white dress and her skin was blue! "This is not normal!"
Peter clung to Angel, sobbing, in a white shirt and pants, and holding Oreo. His skin was also blue! "Sissy! That was so scary!"
Angel hugged her brother tight. "It's okay, Peter. We're not falling anymore."
Peter looked up at her, his little eyes filled with tears. "Why are we blue?"
"I… I don't know."
"Sissy, you're hair's pink!" Peter said, surprised. He fingered the edges of her blonde hair, which had indeed been tinted pink. The biggest surprises of all were on Angel's back. Two, white-feathered wings! "And you have wings!"
"WHAT?!" shrieked Angel. She looked behind her. There they were. This is too much! First, we wake up falling in a forest, now we probably aren't even human! What is going on here?!
"They're pretty, Sissy!" said Peter. "Does this mean you can fly?"
"I don't know Peter. But maybe." Peter stood up so Angel could get up. "Okay, here I go." She slowly spread her wings and tried fluttering them. It felt a little strange to her, but almost natural at the same time. She fluttered them harder, then a little harder until her feet lifted off the ground. "Oh, my!" she gasped.
"Sissy! You're flying!" Peter cheered, a huge grin on his little face.
"A little, but yeah!" Angel replied, a smile growing on her face. This was actually a little fun. Maybe if I can fly high enough, I can get some idea of where we are, she thought. She managed to get about a foot high in the air before she lost control and fell. "Ow!" she yelped as she hit the ground hard.
"Are you okay, Sissy?"
"I'm good, Peter. But I don't think I can fly that much. I don't know what to do."
"Oh."
"I think we should try to find out where we are. Let's see if we can find a road or house or something." Angel said, getting up and taking her brother's free hand. "Stay close to me, Peter."
"Okay… There's not gonna be evil witches in the houses, right?"
"I don't think so, Peter. And even if there are, I'll protect you."

"La-la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la! La-la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la!" Nearby, a small group of little blue people marched happily through the forest, alongside their dog, Puppy. It was Papa Smurf and the Smurflings! They were on a hike in the forest. Puppy came along to play, and to protect the Smurfs from their enemies, the evil wizard Gargamel and his cat, Azrael.
"It's such a smurfy day, isn't it Pappy?" said Sassette, a little-redheaded smurfling with pink overalls.
"Yes it is, my little Sassette," replied the older Smurf with a smile. He has red clothes and a white beard. He ignored the fact that she had called him "Pappy" when he preferred "Papa." "The forest is very smurfy in the spring."
"Look at all the flowers!" cried Nat(Natural) Smurfling. He wore a little straw hat and some brown overalls. "I've never seen so many types so early in spring before!"
"Mother Nature has outdone herself this year." said Papa.
"OW!" A strange voice cried out in pain somewhere nearby. The Smurfs went still. Puppy sniffed the air, trying to figure out who made the noise.
"What is it boy?" whispered Papa, not wanting to attract attention if the stranger was hostile.
Puppy sniffed some more and looked confused. The scent was familiar, but new at the same time.
"Wanna see what it is, Puppy?" asked Snappy Smurfling, a little smurfling with a yellow T-shirt that had a storm cloud on it. Puppy nodded. "Let's go!" Without waiting for an answer from Slouchy(a smurfling with a red shirt), who was also Puppy, Puppy took off.
"Come back here!" cried Papa, but they kept right on running.
Puppy ran until the scent got stronger. Soon, he heard a yelp and met a strange sight. Snappy and Slouchy's eyes went wide. Right in front of them, hiding under a toadstool, were a smurfette and smurfling! "Hey, who are you?" asked Slouchy.
"Stay away!" Angel said, terrified of the dog towering over them and the blue creatures on its back.
"Hey, we won't hurt you, unless you work for Gargamel!" said Snappy.
Peter looked up from where he had buried his face in his sister's dress. "Who's Gargamel?"
Papa finally made it over there. He was as shocked as the others. "Oh, my! Are you alright, dear?" he asked the strange smurfette.
Angel and Peter took a step back. "I said, 'Stay away!'" Angel said, louder and more forcefully.
"We mean no harm, dear. Why are you so afraid?" Papa was surprised to see the strange smurfs, but he was even more surprised that they feared their fellow smurfs.
"I don't know who you are, or what you are, but I won't let you hurt us!" Angel snapped.
"Why, we're smurfs, just as you are."
"Is that what we are now, Sissy?" Peter said timidly, looking up at Angel.
"I don't know," Angel replied to her brother.
Papa knew something was up and they needed help. "Maybe I can help you both. Would you please tell us what happened to you?"
Angel looked between the strangers and her brother. She didn't want to put Peter in danger by trusting the wrong person. However, this person seemed to know what they had turned into and likely knew where they were too. "W-Well, could you at least tell us who you are?"
"I am Papa Smurf, dear," the bearded smurfs said with a gentle smile.
"And we're the Smurflings!" said Snappy, as he and Slouchy climbed down from Puppy's back. The four of them lined up and pointed to themselves as they introduced themselves. "I'm Snappy!"
"I'm Nat!"
"I'm Slouchy!"
"I'm Sassette! And this is Puppy!"
The dog gave a bark and licked both Angel and Peter, causing them to giggle!
"That tickles!" said Peter.
"Stop it!" giggled Angel. They seem nice enough. I suppose we can trust them. If they wanted to hurt us, they would have by now.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Angel and this is Peter," she told them. "You might not believe us, but we're human. Or, we were human. We were at home, getting ready for bed when we saw a shooting star."
"We made wishes on the star!" Peter squeaked.
"We went to sleep, and when we woke up, we were falling in this forest and now we're smurfs!" Angel said. "We didn't wish to be smurfs. We didn't know what a smurf was before now, so we don't know what happened."
"Wow!" said Sassette.
Papa was silent for a minute, studying Angel's expression, before he said, "I believe you. I'm not sure what happened myself, but I believe you."
Angel relaxed. "Thank you, sir. You have now idea how relieved I am."
"So you're lost?" asked Nat.
"Yeah," said Peter sadly, his frown returning.
"We can't leave you here," said Papa. "Why don't you come back to our village with us? It's safer for smurfs there than it is out in the forest."
Angel knew that if she wanted to keep Peter safe, there was not much choice in the matter. Besides, they seemed sweet. "Alright, thank you." With that, they all started to head back to smurf village, hoping for some answers.
To be continued...
