I offered to take little Sammy down to the park, he's 5 now and has more energy than anyone in the family. Julia has just had another little boy so she is super tired and never gets any sleep. So I offered just to give her a break. I took him to the park by the primary school just down the road. It was so much harder than I expected, he ran around in circles about 100 times, making even me feel dizzy.
He went down the slide so many times his hair was sticking up on his head. He really wanted me to join him on the slide and being a good big cousin, I did. Once I had been down it a few times I refused to do it again, he begged for a bit but then gave up and found something just as good to do. It was super funny because I was walking past a big wall which was made of metal and I saw my reflection. It was terrible my hair was sticking up on its ends and I looked so bad.
I saw this boy in the reflection, he had a gigantic smile on his face, I heard him chuckling to himself. I of course felt the same way and started giggling as well. I turned around to get a better look at this boy, but Sammy came running up to me to let me know he was ready to go home, so we headed toward the gate on the other side of the grassy field.
As I was walking away from the park a got the biggest fright someone tapped my shoulder and shouted at me. I turned around really fast, to find it was only the boy from the park. I actually thought something was really wrong by the intensity of his voice, but turns out he just wanted to say hi. What a relief.
My heart was pounding quite fast after that and I think he could tell I was so embarrassed and just wanted to get out of there. Who jumps at a small tap on the shoulder, he must of thought I was so uptight. But then we got talking, he really was the sweetest boy, so interested in what I had to say, I wittered on about my home town endlessly but then remembered that I was talking to much and stop abruptly.
As soon as there was a pause I conversation, Sammy butted in and proclaimed that he was going to die of hunger if he didn't eat something so we said our goodbyes and were on our way.
