It wasn't a day much like every other inside the Underground. The golden-red skies that once lit up the Labyrinth in glory were fading into a misty gray shade; the goblins surrounded the King's castle in an angry mob, screaming harsh, cruel words to Jareth, who laid in his silky bed sheets, misty clear blue eyes lingering into his crystal balls. He needed something to keep him going, something that would take his mind off Sarah. A knock rung out into his chambered room, the king rolled over to face the blackened door. In its shadow stood the new goblin Major, Jenkins.
"What is it?" Jareth spoke, even after everything that he had went through, his voice stayed smooth and velvety. "T-the other goblins, M-milord. They're requesting an audience with you." He said in a low, meekly voice. "What do they want from me?" The king whispered to himself. In his beautiful forest green cloak, he walked to his wide window. Below him were the goblins from Goblin City and beyond. Screams of hatred and despise filled the air when they caught the glimpse of their king. "Shut up! All of you filthy beings!" He shouted to them. Everyone went quiet. "I understand quite well that all of you disgusting beings are mad at me. As of today, Jenkins will be your ruler until I get back from where I am going." Cheers rung out again.
"SILENCE!" He growled and flipped his hair back. "The Labyrinth is in need of a Queen. I must go find one before you ugly, repulsive beings tear down what I've spent so long to build."
Again, cheers rang out. Jareth turned back into his room, throwing off his cloak and shirt onto the chair beside him.
"I-is it true, sire? That you're leaving?" Jenkins asked, his neon blue skin shone off the candle light.
"Yes, I do need a Queen…One that will love me. I plan to be gone for 5 weeks. In that time, you will take my place. You mustn't make any rash choices and do what you see fit for this home, it is, after all, all I have left." Jareth walked to his bathroom and closed the door.
