Hello and welcome back to Ultimate Showdown Extra: Know your Characters
I'm Antonio Ro, your host for this entry… thing.
Anyways. This entry will be going over The main Doomsday from DC Comic's new earth continuity. This one was a bit challenging due to how companies like DC and Marvel like to retcon their comic lore which often tends to lead to confusion.
While not as long as the Link, The Hero of Time entry. There was still a lot to go through for this.
Entry 02
Respect Doomsday, The Ultimate Life-Form
Killer of Superman
(DC Comics' New Earth)
Appearance
Doomsday is a large muscular grayish giant standing at 7 feet tall and weighing in at 615 pounds. He has white hair and red eyes that appear blue in some scans. His body is cover in bone protrusions that appears to form armor over his vital areas as well as various spikes coming from his joints and knuckles. His only article of clothing being some green pants and shoes.
Lore
Doomsday, The Killer of Superman (DC comics' New Earth)
Doomsday, first appearing in the comic Superman: Man of Steel issue 17 on November of 1992. Created by Dan Jurgens, Jerry Ordway, Roger Stern, Brett Breeding, and Louise Simonson.
Created by an alien scientist named Bertron hundreds of thousands of years in the distant past. Doomsday was meant to be the ultimate life form. Bertron had hoped to create a creature that was unrivaled by any other in existence. Choosing the planet Krypton as the testing grounds for this deranged experiment due to the fact that the creatures of Krypton; prior to the arrival of Kryptonians, were considered the monster dangerous beings in the known universe.
Fueled by an undying passion to see his dream realized. Bertron would create the very first entity that formed the basis of the creature we now know as Doomsday. After its birth, Bertron would immediately send the child out into the wilderness of prehistoric Krypton only for the child to meet a swift end upon immediate arrival. Bertron not fazed by the death of the creature in the slightest. Would sent out a pod to retrieve the remains of the first Doomsday.
Upon seeing what had occurred that lead to the first Doomsday's death. Bertron would create a clone of the first Doomsday. Altering the genetics of the clone before sending it out as well only for it to be met with the same fate as its predecessor. Again, Bertron would retrieved the remains of the clone and restart the process.
Each attempt would do better than the last. With each death that the clones suffered. Bertron's understanding of what Doomsday's survival need and which genes to alter or add in order to prolong it's survival with the next clone. Bertron making sure that each clone would remember the life and death of the clones before it.
Eventually, after thousands of deaths, Bertron's altering of the clones' genetic structure and Doomsday's own self preservation instincts began showing results. One clone lasting a full five minutes in the wilderness before meeting its end. Another slaying a group of beasts that had been responsible for all of its previous deaths. Yes with each attempt, each genetic altering and adaption, Doomsday was becoming stronger. Becoming what Bertron had wanted.
Eventually due to the Bertron's altering of Doomsday's genetic code. The final clone that would become known as Doomsday would gain the ability to self-resurrect with its genetic code altering itself in order to overcome whatever had killed it. Bertron had done it. He had created a life-form that could fight and overcome nearly anything that it fought. However, he was unaware of the danger he created. This entity, this Doomsday would go on to live on the planet Krypton, killing everything that it came across. Wiping entire species out of existence with a hatred fueled by its many deaths.
Eventually it would come back to the lab that had birthed it and Bertron himself. Seeing its father as a threat to its survival and fueled by rage at Bertron's actions in all of its prior deaths. Doomsday would slaughter Bertron and all the scientist that aided the aging mad scientist.
Through a stroke of luck. Doomsday would leave the planet Krypton on an escape pod. The pod would crash on another planet in which he would meet and fight the entity known as Darkseid. A battle would ensue and the planet would be laid to waste. Darkseid fleeing due to the planet losing its value to him. Doomsday having escape the planet on another escape pod.
This would continue several times. Doomsday laying waste to a planet and somehow ending up in space on course to another planet. Doomsday would prove to be an unstoppable entity until coming across the space police force known as the Green Lantern Corp. Doomsday would attack the planet. Killing thousands of Green Lantern members until the Guardians of the Universe stepped in. By their powers combined they formed Captain Planet… (wait… that's not right… one moment please as we fixed this error in script.)
(Let's see… birth… murder… fighting and murder… Ah here it is. Okay we now return to your daily dose of madness. Sorry about that.)
By their powers combined. They hit Doomsday with energy blast with such extreme force in hopes of killing the beast.
Injured, but alive. Doomsday had survived this blast; however, the force of the attack was enough to rip open a hole in space and time sucking in Doomsday and spitting the creature out in another location.
Doomsday would clash land on another planet. With its injuries healing at a rapid rate. Doomsday would proceed to lay waste to this new planet as well. The monster's actions forcing the survivors of the planet to call upon their greatest champion. Their leaders combining their power to form the entity known as The Radiant.
(Okay so that is why we put in the Captain Planet joke here. Makes sense now.)
The Radiant was entity of pure energy. Its power far above many of those Doomsday fought in the past. They would come to trade blows with one another. Their battle was one for the ages. However, unlike all the other times. This fight would not end in Doomsday's favor.
Yes true believers. Doomsday had finally met his match. The radiant had proven to be too strong for the genetically altered beast to overcome. With a blast of energy, The Radiant would slay Doomsday. Seeing the beast defeated. The remaining survivors of a nearly dead planet would proceed to do a burial for Doomsday and sending its remains into space due to being class a murderer by the people. This act would land Doomsday on earth where it would spend some time recovering from its defeat.
Doomsday would awaken yet again. Punching its way out of its burial cell and several tons of earth. Doomsday would proceed to cause havoc across the entire United States despite being restrained by its suit to a using a single arm. Seeing its trail of destruction. The Justice League would confront the monster only to be brutally beaten by the restrained Doomsday.
Eventually the famed Man of Steel would arrived to put a stop to Doomsday's actions. However Doomsday had proven itself to be far more powerful than Superman had believed. Being able to hurt the Man of Steel.
In one of the most climactic battles to ever appear in comic book history. Superman would face off against Doomsday. Punches were thrown, people were killed, their locations changing every time one was hit or thrown across great distances. Superman gave it his all. Hitting Doomsday with everything he had and yet nothing seems able to stop or even slow Doomsday down. Even when aided by the Justice League, various members of government strike teams, and even with the aid of the Supergirl of another reality. Doomsday torn down all who stood in its way.
The battle was long and harsh. Superman was being pushed to the limits of his powers. So much so that the solar energy that powered his abilities were starting to waned as the fight continued. Finally after many grueling hours of combat. Superman made his last stand in the city of Metropolis against the monster known as Doomsday.
The city was nearly laid to waste from their battle. Explosion happening as various military weapons were fired on the two. Realizing that he can't hold back any more. Superman gather the last of his remaining power and deliver a punch to Doomsday at the same time as the monster struck him. Resulting in a double K.O. One that resulted in the death of both Superman and Doomsday.
This battle would forever be remembered in those who have seen it. The day Superman Died. Doomsday had done what was once thought to be impossible. People mourned the loss of their protector. This event would later give rise to the reign of the Supermen. However that is a story for another day.
During this time of mourning. The government would have Doomsday sent back out into space. It would be many months later before Doomsday was heard from again.
Sometime after their battle. Superman would be revived. Aware of Doomsday's own ability to revive itself from death. Superman would set out to find and confront Doomsday yet again. Meeting upon the homeworld of Darkseid known as Apokolips. There Doomsday would fight and overwhelm Darkseid in their second encounter. Superman would later join the fight only for him and Doomsday to be teleported by boom-tube to the homeworld of The Radiant. Joining forces with Superman, The Radiant would fight Doomsday again. However, unlike their first encounter. Doomsday would overwhelm both the energy being and Superman. The Radiant being killed in the conflict. Having no choice. Superman would use a device that transported Doomsday to the end of time. Hoping to have finally end the threat of Doomsday.
Doomsday would later return with some assistance from Brainiac. Doomsday would confront Superman yet again only to be defeated when Superman lured the monster into a trap that kept it locked in a sort of quantum stasis between four teleporters. Never fully materializing fully enough nor fast enough to escape.
It would however be release and brainwashed to aid in the battle with Imperiax. A cosmic entity with the power of the Big Bang explosion. Doomsday would be easily killed in the battle. Later Lex Luther would revived Doomsday by fusing cells of superman into the beast. However, this would only weaken the beast as it gain intelligence and understanding. Growing a fear of death as it didn't want to experience the feeling of death.
Doomsday would however lose his kryptonian abilities and DNA after the event known as the Gog Wars. Doomsday with its new intelligence gained from the cells of Superman would aid the Man of Steel in his fight against the heralds of Gog. Spending years battling after Superman was apparently killed again. Doomsday would become a hero to all. Inspiring many to become heroes. When the war ended. It was the Superman's side that won. In this, Doomsday would commit the ultimate sacrifice. In order to fix the damage caused by the Gog Wars. The multiverse had to be a return to a state prior to it starting. Unwilling to allow Superman who was found alive make the decision based on his own emotions. Doomsday order for it to be done, knowing that it would return him back into the mindless monster that he was born to be. However, Doomsday held no regrets over this as countless lives that had been lost in this war would be given a second chance at life. Allowing things to play out better than it had when the Gog wars were happening.
Doomsday would continue to appear in the main comic continuity several more times. Being defeated by Superman and his allies such as when Superman teamed up with the Superman of Pre-Crisis earth 2, or when Doomsday fought a group of twenty kryptonians and was defeated. However, one thing always remained cleared. Without the aid of his allies, Superman's victories against Doomsday could very well gone the other way.
Recently this version of Doomsday had made its way into the DC comics' Prime-Earth universe where he fought Superman as well as several of his allies at the time. He was defeated after the invention of Dr. Oz. Currently it is unknown what will happen to this version of Doomsday as DC comics did an event in which Superman of New Earth had fused with the Superman of Prime-Earth. This event seems to had rewritten various parts of both Supermen' history. However, what effects this had on Doomsday remains to be seen.
Through its strength, Doomsday has proven to be a force that even gods are forced to take seriously.
Physiology traits and abilities
Unique Clone Physiology: Doomsday despite popular belief isn't a Kryptonian despite being able to match characters such as Superman in single combat. During his creation. The alien scientist named Bertron wanted to create the ultimate life-form and felt that Krypton would be the perfect place to create such a creature due to the life forms at the time being some of the most dangerous in the universe. Using an unnamed DNA sample to craft the original clone that would lead to the creation of the current Doomsday. Through constant gene manipulating. Bertron was able to make each proceeding clone stronger and stronger until what we know as Doomsday was finally created. Due to this. Doomsday is shown having far higher degrees of strength, durability, and speed on levels that allows him to fight and overpowered other characters such as Superman and Darkseid.
Limitless Superhuman Strength: Doomsday is shown having immense levels of strength. Being able to fight and defeat the likes of Superman and Darkseid. The former of which nearly losing his life during their first battle. It should be noted that these characters are strong enough to shatter moons and move planets off of pure strength alone. Doomsday is also one of the few characters in fiction with the potential for limitless strength. As for when he dies, his body adapts to what kills him, bring him back physically stronger and more durable than before.
Resurrection Based Stat Increasing Factor: Upon dying. Doomsday's body will begin to repair itself. Given enough time. Doomsday will resurrect from nearly any death. Upon its return to life. Doomsday's physical stats will be improved beyond what they were before. The foes that he struggle against or was evenly match will soon be overpowered. It should be noted this increase in strength, durability and so forth isn't as great as the increases shown by other fictional characters. As he can still be beaten by his foes in future encounters. In addition to this increase in strength. Depending on the adaption he gains upon his revival. These new traits could potentially increase his power further, but may only be a temporary increase depending on the adaptation he gains.
Superhuman Speed: Doomsday is shown being superhumanly fast. While not on the same level as characters such as Superman, or the Flash. Doomsday's speed is shown to be fast enough to keep up with the man of steel. Similarly upon his first battle with the Justice League of America. Doomsday was shown despite being restrained in his prison suit, being fast enough to blitz those who were there without much effort before any of them could react. Booster Gold even comparing his speed to the Flash at one point.
Superhuman Leaping Ability: While Doomsday doesn't possess the power of flight. His superhuman strength does extend to his legs. Allowing him to leap great distances at great speeds. He was able to cross entire states with a single leap during his first appearance. Something that proved to be problematic for Superman due to trying to prevent the monster from entering populated areas as Doomsday could simply leap to a new location, forcing superman to follow in order to try to stop or slow him down.
Superhuman Reflexes: Despite not having any form of combat training. His years of constant battle has honed his reflexes to the point of being capable of matching and defeating the likes of Superman, Darkseid, Wonder Woman and more. He has been shown reacting to these characters in combat. During the entirety of the Death of Superman event. Doomsday's fight with Superman was shown to take place over the entirety of the United States. At one point he reacted and took out the Supergirl of another reality who attempted a sneak attack on the monster. Earlier in the same event as Doomsday was fighting with Superman. Superman tried to take Doomsday into space at high speeds only for Doomsday to react just as quickly with a kick to the face.
Superhuman Agility: Despite his overly large size. Doomsday is shown to be quite agile. Being able to hit multiple foes in the span of a few moments with punches and kicks. Dodging and countering attacks from superhumanly fast characters such as Superman, and Wonder Woman.
Superhuman Stamina: Doomsday is shown to have near limitless stamina. Being able to move and fight for long periods of time. During his first appearance in the Death of Superman event. He was able to fight Superman as well as a number of other superheroes while traveling across the United States. In another case prior to arriving on earth. Doomsday nearly reduce an entire planet to a near lifeless state in a matter of months without stopping to rest.
Superhuman Durability: Doomsday throughout all his short appearances have shown a high degree of durability. During his first appearance. While still being restrained by his prison suit. He tanked a blast from the combined might of Superman, Booster Gold, Fire, Guy Garner, and Bloodwynd without show so much as a scratch during the Death of Superman event. This incident also taking part in the beginning of the epic battle between Superman and Doomsday that spanned nearly the entire United States. In a later comic, when fighting Darkseid, Doomsday was hit with Darkseid's omega beams which sent him crashing through several rock pillars before getting up and proceeding to defeat Darkseid. He could withstand being hit with Wonder Woman's sword which was sharp enough to cut the molecular bond between atoms. In one case he was able to catch a punch from an empowered Superman with his bare hand before proceeding to break the man of steel's arm. He was shown surviving a blast with the combined might of the Green Lantern Corps' Guardians of the Universe.
Energy Resistance: Along with Doomsday's immense physical durability. Doomsday has been shown having a high degree of energy resistance to the point of being immune to certain forms of energy. He was shown having enough resistance to the instant death effect of Darkseid's omega effect. He was capable of pushing through the combined might of the Justice League of America and Superman. One of these members being Guy Gardner who at the time was part of the yellow lantern corp.
Elemental Resistance: Due to Doomsday's immense durability. He has an extreme resistance to the elements. He was able to withstand the combined heat of Superman's heat vision, the fire produced by the heroine Fire, as well as several other superheroes during his appearance in Death of Superman event. Similarly he move in the absolute zero environment of space as well as being able to resist ultrasonic sounds from a sound gun that Superman used on him.
Superhuman Healing Factor: Part of Doomsday's durability stems from his healing factor. He is shown being able to heal from various injuries such as a blast from the Green lantern Corps' Guardians of the Universe which nearly killed him. In another case, he was nearly bisected by an energy sword only for his wound to heal in a matter of moments. His continuous resurrections for various forms of death may also stem form this as in his fight with superman it appears that he died from either a broken neck or a crushed heart. Similarly various external wounds and broken bones are shown to heal and grow back in a matter of moments.
Immortality: Doomsday is effectively immortal. Being alive for thousands of years yet, showing no signs of his power decreasing. Through many battles that Doomsday had. He has been killed several times. Yet despite his supposed death. Doomsday's body was able to heal most of the time and resurrect himself from the grave. However, his resurrection time tends to vary depending on the method and the brutality of which he was killed. In the case of his death at the hands of the Radiant, his death-state lasted for an unknown amount of time however it is presumed to be a few hundred years at least due to the amount of dirt that covered his coffin/prison cell. His death that resulted from the draw in his battle with Superman had taken rough a little over two months for him to fully revive. It is unknown how long it would have taken for Doomsday to have revive after his battle with Imperiax as he was brought back due to outside aid.
Bone Armor: Doomsday's body is covered in bone protrusions. These protrusions appear over his chest, parts of his head as well as most of the major joints used for combat such as his shoulders, knees and elbows. It may be a mutation that appear at some point to protect these joints from damage as his body is very human like and therefore such damage occurs to these areas. Then much like a human. He would be unable to use these body parts for a short time until they heal. Similarly due to Doomsday's fighting style. This trait may have formed in order to provide increase damage when facing off against a potential foe. These protrusions combined with his immense strength provides enough power to cut through a Kryptonian's skin. While they are shown to break from time to time during battle. This normally occurs when they are dealt massive trauma.
Bone Claws: Doomsday has a set of claw like protrusions coming from the top of his hands. These protrusions are sharp enough to cut the skin of a kryptonian when combined with his strength. These claws are shown being able to extend several meters in distance as well as producing a venom that can hurt Kryptonians. However, that second aspect appears to be a one time thing as it was never used again. Strangely enough. Unlike Doomsday's other protrusions. These bone claws appear to be affected by his mental state as they shatter upon impact against Superman's chest when Doomsday gain intelligence from the Kryptonian DNA. It was at this time that Doomsday was experiencing the emotion of fear and was afraid of dying.
Telepathic Resistance: Doomsday has shown a high degree of resistance to mind control. During the Doomsday War event. Brainiac found it incredibly difficult to control the monster's mind. Having to change his plans and create a way using a human child. During the Reign of Doomsday event. Doomsday was able to resist the control of the Eradicator's taking over his mind. While the Eradicator was successful in his attempt. It was only temporary.
Cloning Resistance: Doomsday has shown an interesting resistance to Cloning. As it appears that most of the individuals that attempted to clone Doomsday were unable to reproduce a perfect copy. Many of these copies tends to be far weaker than Doomsday. Being taken out by the likes of Batman and human technology. Even the Doomslayer, a clone that had evolve when placed in a time distortion pocket dimension was shown being unable to overcome Doomsday despite it evolving to a point where it was believed to be stronger than the Original Doomsday.
Reactive Adaptation: Doomsday has a powerful adaptation ability. Allowing him to revive with traits and potential powers that can overcome foes who have defeated and killed him in the past. Similarly upon his revival. Doomsday's stats are shown to increase. Where at one time a punch yielding ten tons of force may have killed him before. Now it would take something around a hundred tons. This was shown in the Hunter/Prey mini-series in which he was able to tank every blow that Superman threw at him despite the man of Steel not holding back like he did during their first encounter. He was able to adapt to the Radiant's energy attacks by producing an energy barrier that counter the Radiant's energy attacks. While as powerful as this ability appears to be. There does appear to be limits. It is stated by Superman that Doomsday can't adapt to that run on the concept of Infinity. Similarly many of these new adaptions aside from the stat increase appear to be limited to either a one time use such as the venom that was capable of hurting Superman. Or they may only appear when facing off against certain opponents that these adaptations were design for. As such, while Doomsday was capable of creating an energy barrier. It may only be usable when facing the Radiant and no one else. Similarly these abilities don't appear to be something that can guarantee a victory for him as while he may have developed adaptations to foes such as Kryptonians. It is shown later that these adaptations either don't appear or aren't strong enough to withstand facing off against multiple foes of the same race. The following a list of some of the adaptations that Doomsday develop.
-Energy Barrier: First used against the Radiant. This barrier was strong enough to withstand the impact force of the Radiant's energy attacks as well as neutralize them in order to allow Doomsday to slay the Radiant during their rematch.
-Venom: Doomsday used this during his rematch with Superman. The toxin was shown to weaken the man of steel quite a bit and it is possible that prolonged exposure to this toxin may be fatal to Kryptonians. This only appeared once.
-Bone that became ear plugs to protect him from ultrasonic noises: This trait came in when Superman was using an ultrasonic gun on Doomsday that affected his ears. In order to counter this. His bones within his ear grew and change to cover his ears until the gun could be destroyed.
-Kryptonian Sense: Due to Doomsday's many deaths that lead to his creation on Krypton. Doomsday develop a sixth sense that allows him to detect Kryptonians and overwrites his mind to treat them as high priority level threats. This was later shown when Doomsday use it to track down Superman and later his son John during the Superman Rebirth comics.
-and other unknown abilities: Doomsday may have develop other abilities that he may be able to use. However, due to the limitations shown with a number of these abilities. It is hard to say if they are permanent or a one time thing as many of these other abilities were shown being.
Enhanced Senses: Doomsday is shown having enhanced vision.
Skills
Berserker State: Doomsday is shown almost always being in a berserker like state. Due to this, his attack patterns are hard to predict. He doesn't feel fear and will continue to charge after his opponent. This state of rage also appears to numb his sense of pain. Allowing him to fight to his full potential without slowing down from potentially fatal injuries. Similarly due to this rage state. When facing off against foes. He has a chance of inflicting them with fear due to his bloodlust should his foe be caught off guard or if they lack experience fighting against him or similar blood lusted foes.
Hand to Hand Combat: While Doomsday was never trained in hand to hand combat. His years of fighting and surviving against everything trying to kill him has help honed his combat abilities. He has shown being able to fight against Superman in a brawl. Defeat Maxima who was from a warrior race. Recently in the Superman Rebirth comics. Doomsday was able to fight and overwhelm the combined might of Superman, Lex Luther, And Wonder Woman. The latter having engaged him in single combat but was overwhelmed before Superman stepped in.
Advance Combat instincts: Despite not being trained. Doomsday shows incredible combat instincts. Being able to use various items and objects around him to fight off his foes. During his fight with Superman. He was tackled through a supermarket. As superman charge at him. Doomsday grab a truck and slammed it on him. In a later fight against Superman who was being helped by the Radiant. He use the energy barrier in order to stop the Radiant's attacks before killing the Radiant. When mind control to fight the Imperiax droids. He was seen tearing through several tens of them where one was enough to give Superman issues. Similarly in Superman Rebirth. Doomsday was shown tearing gas lines in order to prevent Superman from hitting him with his heat vision and even going after Superman's family in order to gain an advantage against the man of steel.
Weaknesses
Like any character in fiction. No character is invincible. Doomsday is no exception. While he has far few weaknesses than others, His weaknesses are by no means any less cripplinging for him and have been taken advantage of before. Leading to his defeat in several instances in the past.
Single-Mindedness: Doomsday is shown with little to no real form of intelligence aside from the simple instinct to kill all in his path. While there are moments in which Doomsday would show some form of intelligence. He generally goes in trying to smash everything in his sight like a raging beast. Many of his foes have used this against him in order to slow him down or lead Doomsday into traps that could disable or even kill him.
Adaptation Limitations: As touched upon in a few sections above. Doomsday's ability to adapt isn't perfect. When he dies, he returns being immune or at least highly resistant to what killed him before. Showing a drastic increase in physical stats. On the down side. It appears that certain abilities and powers that appears in order to help Doomsday to combat his foe have certain limitations or aren't permanent as he only uses some of these abilities when facing certain foes once and never again. If these new abilities are based on situations such as who he is fighting. Then these powers are useless when facing off against another foe as these powers won't help Doomsday win. Similarly if these abilities are limited by usage. After using up these charges, Doomsday will lose these abilities permanently and won't have access to them in future encounters. While this isn't a problem most of the time as Doomsday tends to kill what he is facing the second time around. In cases like Superman. Some of these traits would have been useful and could have potentially won him some of their future rematches. Lastly, Doomsday is unable to adapt to abilities and concepts based on infinity. Likely due to his adaptability being unable to fully understand the concepts and how to beat it. Similarly his recovery time would differ depending on the level of trauma experience prior to death. A death experience by falling down the stairs may only take an hour or two to recover from where in the case of a death where he was reduced to bones could take hundreds to hundreds of thousands of years to come back from.
Brute Force: Doomsday is unable to completely adapt to brute force. Upon his death, when Doomsday revives. He experiences an increase in all his physical stats. Enough to overpower his foe during a rematch and so forth. However as seen in several of his fights. Doomsday can still be injured by those using brute force. Even when he was shown being stronger than his first encounter with Superman. Superman who had experience somewhat of a power increase was still shown being able to break some of the bones on Doomsday's body. Similarly he was defeated by a group of twenty Kryptonians in one encounter through the use of brute force as well.
Concepts Based on Infinity: Doomsday is unable to adapt to things operating on concepts of Infinity. Things such as Entropy or abilities capable of destroying the universe. Similarly due to not being completely immune to brute force. So long as there is someone stronger than Doomsday is currently physically. Doomsday may not be able to overcome his foe.
Feats
Much like other characters in fiction. Doomsday isn't without his feats of power. As mention, there are certain events that in which Doomsday has shown feats outside of what he normally shows due to retcons or outside help. As such. I will only mention those that still remain in canon to this version of Doomsday. Similarly due to DC comics having a habit of spanning events across multiple different book series in which you have to buy six to ten different comic titles just to know the full story. I will be referring all of these feats by the events that they took placed in unless shown otherwise.
Death of Superman
Many feats of power was shown in this comic event. Here are some of them.
- Upon his first appearance within the event. Doomsday using one arm was able to punch himself out of the container that he was contained in before punching himself out of the ground that he was buried in. It is believed to be several feet deep at least to several tens of feet at most. It should be noted that Doomsday wasn't punching at his full strength due to his prison suit restraining his power.
- Upon meeting the Justice League of America. Doomsday while still restrained was capable of blitzing the hero team in a matter of moments. Defeating Maxima, Bloodwynd, Ice, Fire, Guy Gardner, Booster Gold, And Blue Beetle. Booster Gold would comment on Doomsday's speed being like the Flash's speed as he couldn't even see him move.
- Doomsday was able to kick Superman with enough force to send him through a house and several tens of meters away.
- Doomsday took a blast from the combined forces of Fire, Superman, Booster Gold, Bloodwynd, and Guy Gardner at maxed power without showing signs of injuries before charging at them and engaging Superman in battle.
- He was able to react fast enough to Superman who attempted to grab him and take him into space before Doomsday stopped him with a kick.
- He was able to react to a sneak attack by Supergirl of an alternate universe as he punched her in the face hard enough to revert her back to her original race's form as well as potentially killing her.
- His battle with Superman would end in a draw claiming both of their lives. Their deaths won't last long as they were both brought back within a few months later.
During the event known as Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey miniseries. Much of Doomsday's origin and abilities are expanded upon. Among the many feats shown within this book include the following.
- Doomsday would fight Darkseid for the second time in his lore and would dominate Darkseid in this fight prior to Superman arriving to help aid in defeating Doomsday.
- Doomsday would survive a blast from Darkseid's Omega Beams with little damage being done to him. This was a feat that only few were capable of doing due to the Omega Effect's ability to kill most life-forms it comes into contact with due to be an offshoot of the anti-life equation.
- Doomsday's history would show how he can adapt to foes and revive himself after dying. Among these adaptations being an energy barrier capable of stopping the Radiant's attacks, and producing venom capable of slowing down Superman and potentially killing him if he remained exposed to it longer than he had during their fight.
- Doomsday took a hit rivaling the force of millions of nuclear warheads going off at the same time in one spot.
- Similarly Doomsday was shown being able to overpowered Superman despite Superman gaining some stat enhancements prior to their rematch and even when given additional weaponry from the Mother Box. Doomsday simply push Superman back throughout their rematch.
During the event, "Our Worlds at War" Doomsday showed one main feat. However, considering what this feat was and how he done it compared to Superman. It was worth mentioning.
- Doomsday torn through a number of the Imperiax drones as he was brainwashed into helping fight off Imperiax's invasion. A considerable feat considering that Superman was shown having issues with just one.
- During the "Reign of Doomsday" event. Doomsday was shown being able to resist the Eradicator's possession and by the end of the event. He was able to overpower the Eradicator's control before facing off against Doomslayer to what appears to be a stalemate.
The following feats come from the Superman Rebirth comic series "Action Comics" Issue 957 to 962. During his appearance within these issues. Doomsday showed a number of feats.
- During his rematch with Superman. Doomsday was shown using several tactical strategies in order to combat Superman. One being to rip a gas line out when he notice Superman about to use his heat vision on him.
- Within these comics. Doomsday was shown being able to fight and react to Wonder Woman. In one case being knocked off balance by Wonder Woman who tried to follow up on her advantage only for Doomsday to kick her away.
- Similarly during his confrontation with Wonder Woman. He was able to take blows from her sword which was said to be sharp enough to cut the bonds between atoms.
- Doomsday was capable of sensing Superman's son, John, before going after Superman's family.
Entry Complete
So there you have it. The completed profile of one of several Doomsday's within DC comics.
Like I mentioned in the beginning. While this profile wasn't as long as Link's profile. It was by no means easy. Due to how often DC comics likes to retcon things. It was hard to figure out what was canon and what wasn't anymore. So I have no doubt that there will be people eventually that will question the accuracy of this profile. Especially later when I decide to use Doomsday in a future USD battle.
Still, it was interesting to make this profile. Maybe later I'll do a profile on other versions of Doomsday such as the Gog war version or even some of the clones that appeared in the Reign of Doomsday event. But that will depend on the demand and all of that.
Anyways. That just about does it for this profile. I'm not sure if I'll be coming back to this profile as DC merged this version with another version of the same character. But who knows. I might find something that I either missed or forgot when making this profile.
This profile was meant to be out a few days ago, but was sadly delayed due to getting sick a few days ago. But I'm good now. So I will have the next profile out sometime between tomorrow and Tuesday at the latest.
Anyways, if you like this profile. consider favoriting, reviewing and the rest of the nine yards.
And hey if you like what I do and wish to support me. Consider donating to my pa TRE on or ko fi page with the following extension
