Chapter 2

Dear Jace,

If I could have you to myself, my lips would find a way to meet yours.

If we could lie together with limbs entwined, I wouldn't be the first to move away.

If you called me on the phone to talk, I would keep talking with you just to hear your voice.

You think I'm good, like an angel. You wonder why I keep away.

I'm no angel, but I do try to be kinder and more forgiving then most, because I sold my soul.

I'm not sure who I made the pact with, maybe a demon, maybe an angel.

So, when you came into my life, I could not believe you were anything more then a mirage.

You had to leave, you were not going to stay. You were not real.

You must be the taunting of the fallen angel, teasing me with your kindness for a private laugh.

And at first, I think you did laugh at me.

But then you took a life altering path,

and possibly came out of the dark wood by me for a reason.

Maybe instead of thinking you were sent to me,

I was sent for you.

Instead of thinking this has to do with my misfortune,

There is a reason I have witnessed your troubles.

I was sent for you.

Can you accept me in your life.

Can you let me help you?

In turn, helping you might be what I need to understand how you can help me.

So tell me, how will it start,

A knowing look? Our eyes will meet and we will smile at one another.

Your hand will reach out and cover mine?

I will raise the other hand and cup your face?

We will count the seconds and still not kiss, not rush the first kiss.

Our fingers will caress.

We will watch and absorb the details, how the light glints from the sun reflecting off metal before the glow warms my face. The shadows given off from where you sit.

This is just a start, we have not even kissed, yet I think of my fantasies as memories.

Yours always,

Clary
