Hoagie

If the eyes were the windows to the soul, Hoagie's were double pane with a yellow tint. Abigail sometimes found herself wondering what his actual eye color was. It was during their first evening of true passion that she had finally ripped his goggles off to discover eyes of dull blue gazing back at her. Of course there was the glint of desire and love, but there was still something more. The years of experiences had taken their toll on the young man, though he still maintained a certain youth about him. His eyes told the story of a young boy who was forced to grow up too fast, who had lost his father. Yet they also told of a man who never grew out of his youthful imagination. His childhood a blur, adulthood crept at a snail's pace for the boyish mind. He hadn't fought quite the same sibling rivalry as Abigail. Instead, he learned to be a man without the help of father figure. He depended on his friends to fill the hole left by his father and help him become a good male figure for his little brother.

She never expected so much in one exasperated glance. She never expected beautiful blue eyes to stare back at her, let alone to have such a story to accompany them.
