Summary: Just a little peek...

WHOOP WHOOP. That's actually from Totally Spies (totally irrelevant little fact, because I care). I have a little story for you SvenxEve loverrrrrs, because I love the way Sven took to Eve and Eve took to Sven in a totally cutesy fatherly and daughterly way x3! Enjoy!

Cupcakes

Before her was a smoldering set of cupcakes. Not yet black, but just as hard and dry as stones. Eve couldn't understand what she did wrong. She understood that the cupcakes had to be dry from the inside, so when the toothpick came out with even the smallest amount of dough (which had been reduced to just a fraction of a dough molecule after at least twenty picks) she let them sit for another two minutes. Besides, the cupcakes turned a little bit brown on the upside, like the crispy brown of the cookies that Sven always used to successfully bake, so she took that as a good sign. Unfortunately, her expectations weren't met and she ended up with these inedible pieces of imitation rock she wouldn't even dare call cupcakes anymore.

Pouting, she threw her creations in the bin and pondered about how to start over – for the fourth time in a row. The first time, she used all-purpose flour instead of self-rising flour. She thought that all-purpose flour also had the purpose of rising of its own.

Well, not.

She ended up with something that could be defined as a cookie in a cupcake liner. In other words: not a cupcake, thus a failure. Determined to succeed the second time, she read the ingredients carefully and corrected her previous mistake by using self-rising flour that she's now come to view with some disdain. This time, her cupcake batter turned out a success. It was just very unfortunate that she forgot that ovens cool down when turned off, even if they were preheated before. So her cupcakes still turned out mushy and gooey and flat after ten minutes – a failure again.

Not beaten down by this unsatisfying second attempt, she learned that she must preheat the oven again before she put the cupcakes in it, even if it was preheated before. 'How useless', Eve thought with a frown, 'Why do those cooking programs encourage using real ovens when they are so exasperatingly inefficient?'. Carrying on however, because she was persistent about baking these cupcakes for a very special reason, she courageously took up her whisk again and started her third cupcake batter.

Preheated oven – check. Successfully mixed cupcake batter – check. Nothing could go wrong now. After waiting a little while, her cupcakes came out perfectly and Eve was very proud of herself to have achieved this point. The recipe informed her that she had to let the cupcakes rest for a few minutes before she could remove them from the pan, so she waited those minutes out.

But when Eve returned to remove the cupcakes from the pan, her cupcakes had significantly diminished in height – as if mockingly mimicking her previous attempts and laughing at her hard effort that just wouldn't pay off. Her jaw dropped and frustrated she took out one cupcake and broke it open to examine it from the inside. She found that it was still a little uncooked from the inside and that that was the cause of the collapse in height.

After a thorough research to correct this newfound mistake, she discovered the trick with the toothpick to test whether her cupcakes were cooked through or not. Which left her with her fourth try which outcome was already made known…

Recollecting these events, Eve was on the verge of breaking down… Was she really not going to escape the fact that she was apparently genetically doomed to be terrible at cooking and baking? She even succeeded at keeping the kitchen somewhat neat this time…

"EVE? WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED HERE?"

She said somewhat neat.

Eve cringed at the high squeaky pitch that Train somehow managed to hit with his voice when he was distressed, but didn't care for turning to face him. Now that her endeavor has failed and wasn't likely to improve anytime soon (at least not today, because she was actually quite done with it…) she had to come up with a working alternative now, because Sven was almost home.

"Care telling us, Eve?"

Her eyes widened. No. He's not here, is he? Not now!

Eve swiftly turned around and saw Train gaping at the state the kitchen was in with groceries – that he previously held onto – dropped on the floor… and Sven standing next to him with a more relaxed posture, but with a curious and expecting gleam to his eyes directed towards her. Sven had already seen her methods of cooking before and probably wasn't surprised to see the kitchen this way, but she desperately wanted to keep this a surprise and even that failed… Sven did so much for her already and she couldn't even accomplish this to return the favor just a little bit?

Eve's shoulders slumped and she hung her head. Even as a fifteen-year old she couldn't hide it when she was disappointed. Especially not when it came to Sven.

"Eve?" Sven repeated.

"I wanted to surprise you with cupcakes for your birthday…"

As soon as she said that, Train burst out laughing, with his hands clutching his stomach and tears streaming down his face.

"CUPCAKES!? YOU SAID YOU WANTED TO BAKE HIM A THREE LAYER CAKE AND YOU CAN'T EVEN BAKE CUPCAKES!?"

Sven knocked Train on his head to shut him up, but it didn't work as Train was now laying on the floor laughing almost maniacally. Sven sensed Eve's frustration with Train and her disappointment with her baking and came up to her to comfort her. But before he reached her, his eyes caught a glimpse of the trashcan that was now filled to the brim with her cupcakes. Eve looked up and caught his eyes' direction. Blushing deeply, she ran towards the trashcan trying to force the lid down.

Sven covered his eyes with his hat and smiled.

What a wonderful daughter she is.

"I'll teach you how to bake them, Eve."

They are just so unbelievably adorable...

Again: please leave a comment, it really gives me a boost! And also feel free to leave suggestions for future oneshots :)
