The morning after the initiation, Beca wakes up next to Jesse in their underwear (she has a single room because of her dad's influence). They quickly figure out that while they did nothing the night before, but they can't help but gravitate towards each other. There's something about Jesse that draws Beca in.

So maybe the alcohol hadn't been the best idea was the first thought that ran through Beca's head when the sun peeking through the open curtain hit her eyes. Rolling away quickly, she was confronted with a broad and muscular chest. Her addled brain couldn't help but wonder what else was hidden underneath the comforter. Just as she was about to lift up the edge, she glanced up to see who had shared her bed last night. She certainly hadn't been expecting to see Jesse. With a startled yelp Beca dropped the blanket and tried to scoot further away. Jesse just tightened his hold on her waist and pulled her closer.
"Just go back to sleep, we can talk later Beca," he groans and buries his face into her hair.
"But we—oh fine," she reasons with herself that she's only agreeing because her head is pounding and not because she's incredibly comfortable in his arms.

Beca was woken up a few hours later by her cellphone ringing. Grumbling she pulled herself away from Jesse and fished it out of her jacket pocket on the floor.
"Hello?" she said groggily. She fell back onto the bed curling into Jesse's side.
"Good morning Beca," Aubrey chirped loudly, making Beca wince. "There's an important Bella meeting later today at three. We need everybody there so we can discuss the start of the season."
"Yeah sure, I'll be there," Beca replied quickly, hoping to end the conversation with the perky blonde.
"Bye-bye," Aubrey loudly replied, again making Beca's head throb.
Beca quickly hung up the phone and tossed it over to the couch underneath the window. Right before she was going to fall asleep again she noticed that Jesse had also been woken up by the phone call and was staring at her. Curious, Beca glanced down and was startled to see that the blanket had fallen down to reveal that she was only wearing a purple lace bra and matching panties. She quickly grabbed the edge of the blanket and pulled it up to cover herself.
"Relax Beca," Jesse chuckled, "I already saw everything last night after you decided to give me a little show."
"What do you mean I gave you a show?" she spluttered.
"Well you were really drunk so I walked you back to your room before you got worse. When we got here I was about to tuck you into bed, you started singing and stripping off your clothes. When I tried to leave, you dragged me back in the room and asked me to stay. And really, who am I to resist such a pretty lady?" throughout his explanation Jesse was staring intensely into Beca's eyes and his hand had moved to rest over her hip on top of the blanket.
Suddenly a rush of memories came flooding back to Beca: her downing Jell-O shots with Chloe and Fat Amy, singing with Jesse, walking back to her room and peeling off clothing as soon as she was in the door and then trying to kiss Jesse as he was leaving. Beca stared at him in shock, why hadn't he responded?
Correctly interpreting her look, Jesse answers, "I didn't kiss you because I wasn't sure if you really wanted me to, or if you were just really drunk."
Beca arches her eyebrow in response, "But you were perfectly ok with sleeping in your underwear, in my bed?"
"You were just so cute, I couldn't resist. Plus I didn't want to walk all the way back to my room. I wasn't exactly sober either," Jesse said as he was putting on his clothes. Beca watched with slight remorse as he pulled his shirt on. He may not have a defined six pack like Luke the station manager, but damn he was not lacking in anything. The two finished getting dressed in an awkward silence and Beca thanked the Lord once again that she had gotten a single room and didn't have to deal with a nosy roommate as well.
"Jesse," Beca spoke up suddenly, "can we not talk about that," she gestures vaguely at the bed, "until we figure out exactly what this is?" she motioned between them.
"I don't know, you were really comfortable to sleep with," Jesse stopped abruptly when he saw the vulnerable look on Beca's face. He had never seen that look on her before and frankly he didn't really like it all that much. He was drawn to the strong and fiercely independent Beca Mitchell that was always challenging him. "Of course, whatever you want."
Before he opened the door to leave, Beca reached up to give him a quick peck on the cheek. It really wasn't all that much, but coming from Beca it meant the world to him. Jesse left her dorm with a smile on his face. Nothing could bring him down now.

Three o'clock came much too quickly for Beca. Before she knew it she was sitting in the Performing Arts building in an abandoned warehouse style room. She was honestly not paying attention to Aubrey, but when she heard that a girl had been kicked out for having sex with a Treblemaker, she was appalled.
"That oath was serious?" she blurted out.
"Dixie Chick serious," Aubrey confirmed, Beca was tempted to get up and leave. The only thing stopping her was her dad's promise that he would help her move to LA if she participated in a club.
Throughout the rest of the meeting the girls did weird voice exercises, learned the choreography to their regionals song and attempted to do some cardio—well everybody except Fat Amy did. The Bellas tried as hard as they could, but they just couldn't get the hang of the dance or the song. Their own personal styles just didn't mesh. In her head, Beca was thinking up dozens of ways she could use each person's voice to remix a new song. Finally after what seemed like forever, Aubrey ended the torturous meeting. Chloe and Aubrey attempted to explain the Bella "cheer" but none of the girls could seem to get the hang of it. They quickly left after the meeting, but Beca was called back by Aubrey. She turned around, cringing internally.
"You're going to have to take those ear monstrosities out for regionals," Aubrey said snobbishly.
"You don't like me, do you?" Beca asked her, not really caring about the answer.
"I don't like your attitude," Aubrey replied. "And I know you have a toner for Jesse."
"A what?" Beca was slightly confused by that one.
"A musical boner and you need to stop because he's a Treblemaker," Aubrey commanded like she expected to be followed.
"You're not the boss of me. And you lost two girls to that oath today. I'm pretty sure you need me a lot more than I need you," Beca turned around to leave.
"I can see that toner through your jeans!" Aubrey was getting desperate now.
"No that's my dick," with that final comment Beca left the room.
As soon as Beca made it outside she pulled out her cellphone and texted Jesse to meet her on the quad in an hour so they could talk. She first went to her dorm room to get her laptop so she could do a little mixing while she waited for him to get there. As Beca walked she couldn't help but enjoy the nice day. Eventually she found a nice spot on the grass to settle down and wait for Jesse. She was just getting into it when Jesse comes up behind her and tosses her a juice pouch. Her confusion only grows as she watches him lay out a blanket and pull odd things from his backpack. First there's a candle, then a box of crackers and some movies.
"Ok so I figured we could watch a movie. I brought ET, The Breakfast Club, Jaws, and Rocky," Jesse kept talking but Beca was more focused on the fact that he had brought movies, her least favorite pastime.
"You must sweep your girlfriend off her feet," Beca comments drily. Jesse gives her a cute smile.
"Oh I don't have a girlfriend," he replies and Beca could have sworn that she saw him wink.
"What?! You have juice pouches and Rocky, how do you not have a girlfriend?" and if Beca had been asked, she would vehemently deny that his answering shrug and smile made her heart leap. He was just a friend, that's it. Right?
"So what do you want to watch first?" he asks, subtly changing the subject.
"How about we do something else fun? Like relive my parent's divorce or visit a gynecologist?" oh whoops, she hadn't meant for that to come out like that. Jesse's incredulous look told her that he had taken it as bad as she thought he would.
"You don't like movies? That's like not liking puppies" Jesse was clearly astounded. Clearly he couldn't understand it. He didn't even buy her explanation about predictability and boredom.
"You know German? Oh no wonder you don't like fun things," Jesse finally said. Beca just rolled her eyes and sucked on her straw, still smiling at her friend.
"So how was Bella practice?" Jesse asked casually as he pulled more food out of his bag. What was he, Mary Poppins?
"Ugh it was brutal," she groaned in response.
"Oh are you guys getting ready for the riff-off?" Jesse asked, smiling mischievously.
"No, what the hell is a riff-off?" she was slightly panicked.
"Oh don't worry, it sounds really fun, apparently we just spontaneously sing songs at each other and the best group wins."
"Oh, no we weren't getting ready for that," Beca calmed down slightly. "First we watched last year's Bella performance—"
"The one where Aubrey threw up all over the audience?" Jesse was laughing now.
"Yeah that one, how did you know about that?" Beca asked.
"Bumper wanted to make sure that we knew how bad the Bellas were," Jesse explained. "Are you guys doing a different song then last year?"
"Nope, we're still doing it. Sucks, doesn't it?" Beca grimaced. "Anyways, during the initiation last night we had to take a 'solemn oath' that we would not have sex with any Treblemakers. Two girls were kicked out for it today at practice."
"You can't—what?" Jesse was absolutely shocked, and a little crushed if he was honest with himself.
"Yep, apparently the rivalry between Trebles and Bellas is pretty intense," Beca continued talking, not even noticing Jesse's expression. "Then Aubrey tried to tell me that I need to stop hanging out with you or I would be out of the Bellas."
"So, what are you going to do about it?" Jesse asked slowly, almost afraid of what her answer would be. Beca looked at him curiously for a moment before she rolled her eyes and pushed his arm slightly.
"You brought me a juice pouch and a picnic, of course I'm still going to hang out with you," she said jokingly. Then Beca's smile turned playful, "Plus we've already slept together so there's not much they can do to me."
Jesse bursts out laughing so loud that everybody in the immediate vicinity turns to look before going back to what they had been doing. Beca giggles slightly and pushes down the warm feeling in her heart because she refuses to let another person in just so they can shatter her heart again.
The two of them sat on the lawn talking for another hour before they had to leave to go do homework, or pretend to as the case may be. Before he left, Jesse hugged her around the shoulders and said he would see her at the radio station for more CD stacking. Beca was left standing there for a moment staring at his back until she turned and walked back to her dorm room.

The next morning at Bellas practice was possibly more brutal then the day before. Aubrey made no secret of the fact that she didn't like Beca. They practiced the choreography for the fraternity party performance and the regionals song before Aubrey called it a day.
"Oh before you leave, the riff-off is Saturday. So start thinking of songs we can use," Aubrey said.
All the girls left at the same time, chattering excitedly about the riff-off. Fat Amy was especially excited because she wanted to beat Bumper and wipe the stupid smirk off of his face. Stacie wanted to show off all her moves that she couldn't do in performances with the Bellas. Beca was the only one that really didn't care if they won or lost. She just wanted to watch Jesse perform since she really hadn't seen him sing that much, well not counting the serenade at orientation that had been ruined by his dad driving away.
Beca was walking slowly back to her dorm. Her economics paper was sitting at her desk just waiting to bore her to death. Suddenly she heard somebody calling her name from behind her. She wasn't all that surprised when she was Jesse coming towards her. Beca was, however, surprised to see Jesse's roommate Benji tagging along. She had gotten the impression that he was terrified of her.
"Hey Bec, so I was talking to Benji here and he was appalled to hear that you don't like movies," Jesse began.
"It's preposterous," Benji exclaimed.
"Yes it is," Jesse agreed enthusiastically. "So to fix this obvious crime against humanity, we are kidnapping you and forcing you to watch all the Star Wars movies with us."
"But I've already seen Star Wars," Beca protested.
"Not with me you haven't," Benji said. Jesse nodded his head eagerly in agreement. Before Beca could object more Jesse slung his arm around her shoulder and steered her towards their dorm. Benji trotted behind them chattering eagerly about his latest magic trick that he was working on. Jesse energetically talked with him over Beca's head, completely ignoring her grumpy expression and occasional huff of annoyance.
"Can I at least go get my homework?" Beca interrupted loudly.
"Nope, it's Thursday and you only have philosophy tomorrow and we all know that you probably won't be going to that," Jesse said smugly before turning back to his discussion about Houdini's hand-cuff tricks that Benji was attempting to replicate. Beca huffed again and crossed her arms stubbornly across her chest. She honestly didn't even know why she was going along with this. She told herself that it was because Benji just looked so excited about the prospect of educating another person in the ways of the Force.
Their little group reached Jesse and Benji's dorm fairly quickly and Beca used their momentary distraction with the door to try an escape, but she had forgotten about Jesse's arm around her shoulder. He quickly pulled her close to his side and tightened his hold slightly.
"Tsk tsk Beca, people might think that you really don't want to be here," he mockingly frowned at her before giving her an adorable smile. Beca glared at him but they both knew that it lacked any real malice. Jesse just smiled wider and ushered her through the open door, following closely so she wouldn't have a chance to bolt. Trying to be contrary, Beca flopped onto his bed and tried to take up as much room as possible. Jesse just sat down on the end of the bed, picking up her feet and putting them in her lap. Beca rolled her eyes and kicked off her sneakers so he would be more comfortable. She pointedly ignored Jesse's smug smile and stared at the TV screen where Benji almost had the movie all set up.
Throughout the movie Beca would try to fall asleep but Jesse or Benji would wake her up either by tickling her feet or with random fact. Personally she preferred Benji's tactic, but Jesse kept insisting on torturing her. Every time she would try to move he would pull her back and mock glare at her. By the time they put in the second movie Jesse and Beca were sitting side by side against the wall while Benji chattered through most of the dialogue. By the time they were halfway through the second movie it was past midnight and Beca was honestly starting to feel tired. Without even thinking about it she leaned against Jesse's shoulder and tried to keep watching the movie, but before she knew it she was fast asleep.

Jesse woke up first this time. He noticed that he was still sitting up against the wall with Beca sprawled across his lap in what looked like a very uncomfortable position. Maneuvering carefully, he somehow managed to get them so they were lying flat on the bed. Looking over at Benji's bed he saw that his roommate had already left for his theatre design class. Beca moaned and rolled closer to his chest, burying her head in his shoulder and wrapping her arms around him. She looked so cute in her sleep that he couldn't help but smile. During the day she did her best to push him and everybody else in her life away. Beca had been hurt by her parent's divorce and there was no way she was ever going to let that happen again. But Jesse was intrigued by her. Everything about Beca, her looks, voice and wit, pushed people away but he just wanted to be closer. He fought hard to break down her walls and the ones he couldn't break he would find a way to climb around them. Whatever it took, Jesse wanted to see what the real Beca Mitchell was like.
