Luffy POV

The walk to school was hell with my leg and needless to say I was late. But on the bright side my school was only a mile from my apartment building so it only took me a half hour to walk there. When I walked in the door I could see the old lady Mrs. Ross look at me with an evil eye. I walked up to her with a big smile on my face hoping she wouldn't notice the limp. "Hi Mrs. Ross, how was your summer?" I asked cheerily.

"You're late Luffy." She stated flatly. Something most people didn't know that she hates every other kid in the school and treats them like an old friend from school only to find out he was a lot more successful than you, you smile and pretend to like them but inside you feel like punching them. Only difference is she doesn't have much of a poker face.

"Yah sorry, I fell down some stairs at home last and nailed my leg really hard." I said while lifting up the leg of my shorts and showing her the bruise.

"Is that what happened to your face too?" she asked while pointing to my face. I lifted m hand and dragged it across my face until I felt a jolt of pain right at my eye. Crap I thought. Then remembered my dad's foot rocketing for my foot. The hangover must have covered he pain and I wasn't looking too hard in the mirror earlier.

"Yah, I forgot about that one." I smiled and felt it again running my hand over it slightly so it didn't hurt. "So can I get a pass please?" I asked meekly expecting her to turn me down. But instead she bent down and wrote something on a pass, then she reached over and grabbed another slip of paper.

"When you didn't walk in early like normal I grabbed it just in case." She smiled as she handed me a pass and my schedule for the next quarter. "Just be more careful aright Luffy?" she smiled as she hit the button to unlock the door.

"Thanks Mrs. Ross, and will do." I smiled and walked into the school. I wasn't sure why but Mrs. Ross always had a soft part in her heart for Luffy. When he was late she almost always wrote me a pass.

I headed for the bathroom to check out my eye and to see if it was as bad as I thought. As I walked into the bathroom I gaged, it always smelled like urine but on the first day? Looking around I wasn't sure if he custodian had cleaned it at all over the summer. "Oh that's just gross." I said while looking at the floor by the stall, it was completely covered in urine.

I turned and looked at the mirror. There was a lot of cracks and things carved into the glass that I'm not going to describe. But it still worked as a mirror and what I saw wasn't pretty. All around the right side of my face there was a huge bruise that was a dark purple. "Damn that's a shiner." I stated while looking at it from different angles and trying to figure out what to say to the teacher. I stopped after a minute knowing I'd just use the old "fell down the stairs" that worked so well. Then I took out the sheet and looked at who I had first hour. "World history with Mrs. Nice Robin?" I said the name a few times trying to figure out if I'd heard of her before.

I should probably start going.
