Chapter Two: Courtship of Luke Skywalker.
Over the next several months Luke was true to his word and began training Lumiya as a Jedi. Lumiya learned quickly all she could about saber combat and adopted the use of the Lightwhip as her personal saber and form of choice. Luke was amazed at how easily she learned saber combat and as they trained together they love and bond grew as well, Luke eventually decided to invite Lumiya over to meet Han and Leia as he began to warm up to the idea of seeing Lumiya as more then his girlfriend.
At the Solo's Apartment.
Luke paced in the living room, it wasn't often that he was ever nervous but today was his exception. Han and Leia watched in amusement as the Jedi Knight continued pacing. "Luke you can relax I am sure we will all have a wonderful night." Leia said almost sounding like a mother to a teenager. Luke gave his sister a warm smile "I know Leia I just want all this to go right and I want it to be special for Lumiya." Luke replied. Han smirked remembering what Luke was like before he became a Jedi, he smiled at the fact that even a Jedi could be subject to the basic emotions of romance. "Kid if she managed to win your heart at the Victory Ball then I am sure she is a special woman." Han said still smirking. Luke gave a grateful nod to Han. "Thanks Han for everything." Luke said in a now calm voice. Before Han could respond there was a knock on the door and Luke immediately sensed Lumiya's presence on the other side. Leia went to open the door and let the woman walk in greeting her as she entered. Luke ran over and embraced her tightly "I am so glad you could make it." Luke said his face brightening.
Lumiya didn't bother with the normal greeting she gave in public and wrapped her arms around Luke giving him a long passionate kiss, before addressing the others. "You must be Han and Leia Solo it is a pleasure to meet you." Lumiya said giving them a warm smile as she shook their hands. Leia immediately now realized why Luke had been nervous as she got a better look at the woman. "Shira Brie I presume." Letting her suspicion get the better of her. Luke held back a groan and Lumiya sensed it through their force bond "Not any more it's Lumiya now but for now Brie will do as a last name." Lumiya said in her ever calm voice silently reassuring Luke through their bond that she expected this and would not take offense. "And I understand your reaction to seeing me again especially being with your brother after what I did as a spy for the Empire, but fear not daughter of Vader I have no intent to harm Luke in fact that is why I am a Jedi now." Lumiya said. It was then that everyone including Luke noticed what she was wearing. Lumiya wore a set of brown and black Jedi robes similar to Anakin's Luke noted remembering a holo image he had seen of his father whom at the time was a Padawan. Luke wondered why she chose to wear the color but decided not to ask. Lumiya smiled at Luke seeing his reaction to her robes giving him a kiss on the cheek before everyone sat down to dinner. Lumiya talked happily with Han and Leia clearly not letting Leia's earlier reaction to her get under her skin, Lumiya did however get along the most with Han. As the night grew late Luke tapped his glass signaling that he wanted to speak. "I am glad you are all getting along because I have an important announcement to make, after some thought I have decided to rent an apartment in the same building as Lumiya my reason is I feel the need to be closer to her." Luke said with a smile.
Lumiya was shocked she knew how much Luke loved her but to hear him say he wanted to live closer to her, Lumiya listened to her heart "Luke instead of moving to another apartment in my building and wasting credits why not move in with me I have a spare bedroom and I know things are getting serious between us." Lumiya said giving Luke a seductive grin at her last sentence. Luke was now the one stunned "Of course I would love that but are your sure?" Luke asked. Lumiya smiled nodding her head "Of course I am and besides if things keep going the way they are we will probably be married before too long." Lumiya said giving Luke a smirk. Luke thought before he replied. Luke remembered the previous night having a dream or vision of marrying Lumiya but he hadn't mentioned it to her "Then I guess I should go start packing." Luke said as he sensed through their bond that she intended to have him move in right away. Luke and Lumiya went to his room and to Lumiya's surprise Luke had very few possessions so it only took one crate to get everything together. Luke and Lumiya said goodbye to Han and Leia and afterwards went to Lumiya's apartment.
At Lumiya's Apartment
Luke and Lumiya arrived at the apartment and brought Luke's things into the apartment. Lumiya guided Luke to a room just across from Lumiya's bedroom "Welcome home Luke. I hope like your room." Lumiya said giving him a warm smile. Luke nodded back at her "And correct me if I am wrong but I swear I saw a training room as we walked in." Luke said. "Good eye my love, I started to build it not too long after you agreed to train me." Lumiya stated in almost flirtatious tone. Luke Skywalker was quiet for a moment, he could not believe his luck or the will of the force as Jedi believed, Lumiya had really done so much for him and had shared a very deep intimate bond with him that not even his twin had with him. Luke initially didn't think he would ever find love especially after Yoda cautioned him about what became of Anakin, his father, but this woman an Ex-Hand of the Emperor had changed her dark ways for him. Lumiya sensed the inner monologue in Luke's mind, it warmed her heart that she was able to do so much good in Luke's life, Lumiya wrapped her arms gently around Luke drawing him close to her "I understand Luke, this is all still somewhat a mystery to me, who would have thought a Jedi and former Sith Lady could fall in love especially us, but Luke you once told me long ago The Force worked in strange ways and forget logic for once sweetie and trust your heart." Lumiya said in her best soothing tone.
Luke closed his eyes and listening to his girlfriend's words he allowed himself to just listen to his heart, his head told him to listen to Yoda but he realized that the old Jedi Order was wrong about love, love redeemed his father Anakin Skywalker, love redeemed Shira Brie and love saved him on the Death Star. While the way of no love or compassion destroyed the old Jedi Order and got his mother killed and nearly kept Anakin as Darth Vader forever, no the Jedi needed to change and he would make that change He, Lumiya, and Leia were the last Jedi after all. with that last thought he allowed himself to think of his dream the previous night, in his mind he saw Lumiya in her Jedi robes standing with him at a wedding alter exchanging their vows, without realizing Lumiya had been probing his thoughts. "My answer to the question you are struggling to ask is yes." Lumiya whispered in his ear. Luke blushed before responding "What?" Luke asked. "Yes Luke I will marry you, I know we have only dated for about five months but I have loved you for years and my answer is yes." Lumiya said pulling back slightly so she could lean in to kiss him passionately.
Luke looked up as Lumiya broke the kiss seeing the unmistakable ghostly form of Anakin Skywalker enter the room smiling. "Father?" Luke asked. Anakin nodded "Yes son and for the record I approve, which is one reason I saved her a few years ago." Anakin said giving Lumiya a nod. "My old master," Lumiya replied. "Lumiya I only have one final request for you, love Luke in the way his mother could not love me, love him fully, with no reservation and always faithfully, if you intend to be his wife." Anakin said giving her a sad smile before addressing them both "And love each other in a way Padme and I never could due to The Emperor." Anakin finished. "We promise." Luke and Lumiya said at the same time. Anakin gave them both a warm smile "And you my son I know you intend to change some of the Jedi ways, I for one agree and have come to offer you a place to start, go to Yavin Four where your journey began, but first your Padawan must face the Jedi Trials go to Dagobah then set up your academy." Anakin said giving them one last smile before disappearing.
Luke shed a single tear before he spoke "Goodbye Father." Luke said. Lumiya wiped his eyes dry, most had never seen this side of Luke Skywalker but Lumiya was the exception, she had been his first kiss, his first date, the history he had with her predated her becoming Lumiya, which was part of the reason she was going to marry him, the other was that the love that flowed between them passed all understanding, as if their love gave each other life. Lumiya was pained to see Luke saddened but in some ways it was comforting to her too, to know her new mentor was more then just the Jedi that he was a man with everything that came with it was precious to her, and this Luke was the man whom was grieving the loss of his father just like any normal person, so Lumiya like any soon-to-be wife threw her arms around her betrothed and just held him close comforting him with her presence until he calmed down. Luke sighed as his tears stopped. "Thanks Lumiya for being here for me, I didn't realize how strongly my father's death still affected me." Luke said barely above a whisper. "It's ok Luke you lost so much it is normal to be sad like that especially since you just saw him as a ghost and honestly Luke I doubt anyone could handle it better." Lumiya replied. Luke knew what she was talking about, as an Emperor's hand and later Darth Vader's hand Lumiya had seen a lot of death in her life, he had seen glimpses of her past and was grateful that his father had been a much kinder master then The Emperor, but he knew each time she talked about death she was talking about her service in the empire.
Lumiya sensed his thoughts and decided to speak "I can't change what was done in the past dear but I became a Jedi to create a better future." Lumiya replied. Luke mentally slapped himself for letting her see his thoughts at that moment but composed himself as he saw her smirk "You're cute when you are embarrassed Luke." Lumiya said leaning in kissing Luke on the check "Come on Lumiya we need to go to sleep so we can travel to Dagobah tomorrow." Luke said returning her smirk, after a laugh they went to their rooms and fell asleep.
