Edmund: English, meaning "protector"
Ever since he almost got them killed, Edmund has devoted his life to protecting his siblings. When he is asked to deliver judgement, the Just king considers every offence committed carefully, dealing out the fairest punishment for each crime. He makes sure that none of the accused will ever harm his family, but his ruling is never harsh, never cruel.
When meeting with foreign ambassadors, Edmund is calm, cautious, never hoping to provoke war. But when war is inevitable, he calculates the best possible strategy for battle, acting as chief tactician, leaving Peter free to organise troops for the actual fighting.
Edmund once promised Aslan he would be a good king, and, more importantly, a good brother. And he does it in the best way he knows – by keeping his family safe.
