Chapter 2 - Love at First Imprint
{Breaking Dawn Part I}
{Night Renesmee was Born}
{Cullen's House}
So much had happened since that lonely night of reflection upon the cliff right after saying goodbye to Bella. A night Jacob had finally thought gave him the strength and direction to carry on. Well that was all a big pile of steaming crap.
He sat hunched over right outside the Cullen's home. His breathing was ragged as his emotions were on edge as he was trying with all his might not to phase. Everything he did for Bella, everything he wanted for her, never once did she think of his feelings. Now... the thing that killed her... the thing he had practically begged her to get rid of so she would be safe, was bundled in warmth and safety and Bella was dead.
It was that loss that fueled his rage. His true power flowed uncontrollably through his body and he knew without a doubt, no one could stand up to him. Not even the Alpha could beat him now, remembering just a few days ago standing up to Sam. All he wanted was for his reason for living, his Bella to be safe. But now she was gone.
His rage continued to build as he thought of that monstrosity that killed Bella. All he could think about was the vileness, the grotesque face of the beast that that destroyed everything.
Reason left him as he knew what he had to do. Jacob was beyond reason now, he was going to end the evil beast for good.
He never paused, not once caring about the blood suckers he would have to face. None of them knew the extent of his power now. His 'awakening' after the confrontation with Sam and the pack, unleashing a power even he didn't know he had. The training in Canada proved to be the best thing for him because what he had to endure over there allowed the true Alpha to be born.
He had a brief moment of reflection, thinking back to the stories his grandfather told him about a great Quileute warrior that would one day lead the tribe against the great forces of darkness, a Chosen One. He almost laughed thinking about how wrong he was to even remotely entertain the possibility that the One could have been him. Great things like that just didn't happen to Jacob and especially now, after what he planned to do.
He quickly entered the house, the smell of the vampires filling his nostrils, feeding his rage. He walked through the hall, silent as his human form allowed, focusing in on the blonde vampire who must have been holding the abomination.
Jacob paused for only a moment, his inner soul trying to warn him about something. He fought it down, knowing that as much of jerk Blondie was to him, he did not want to rip her to shreds. But if it came to it, he would do everything except removing her head from her body just to destroy the beast in her arms.
As the smell continued to invade his senses, he felt his body vibrating as almost a defense mechanism. It was as if his body knew that in human form, Jacob could never live with himself, destroying any type of innocent life, regardless the threat it might be to humans. As a powerful wolf however, it could almost be explained away.
Jacob knew though that he was not going to take the easy way out. He had to do this of his own accord. Hopefully gaining satisfaction from ridding the world of one more blood sucker... the one that killed Bella.
He entered the room and the blonde leech did not even sense him. Odd he thought as she usually always noticed his stench. He wondered only briefly if somehow her senses were being blocked. Strange how him just thinking that he'd hope she wouldn't sense him, was enough to hide his presence, or maybe the vampire was too preoccupied?
This was it, Jacob thought as he was almost within striking distance. His life meant nothing without Bella and at this point, he knew he would not phase. At this moment he knew there was no going back and in reality, he didn't want to. Without Bella, there was no reason to go on and so he would take care of his objective and then let the Vampires destroy him. It would be a fitting end.
Jacob narrowed his eyes as he saw the blonde vampire turning slightly revealing the beast to him. The baby was in full view now and stared right at Jacob with recognition in her eyes. Jacob felt as if his heart split open and his life blood poured out as he looked upon the most beautiful creature he had ever seen.
Then the feeling changed as some unexplained force hit the powerful shape-shifter and stopped him effortlessly. Almost as if a giant wave washed down upon him and was sweeping him away. Jacob could not withstand the force overcoming him, it was as if gravity had completely disintegrated.
He dropped to his knees, tears forming in his eyes but no longer tears of sadness and anger. It was as if he felt every connection he had to anger, pain, suffering, instantly severed. His body felt like a bright light had exploded inside him. He thought he knew what love felt like but he wasn't even close. He instantly felt a love for this baby that was beyond anything logical, beyond even what he was told about imprinting, there was something so much more happening.
He was done. All strength spent from his body as realization hit him. He almost wept realizing his faith was finally restored.

{Breaking Dawn Part II}
{Couple Days after Renesmee Born}
{Cullen's House}
It had only been a couple days since the night of the imprinting. Jacob was holding baby Nessie in his arms, speaking to her father but not once lifting his gaze from his precious bundle. "So Edward, how exactly do we explain this to Bella?"
Edward looked at his onetime foe, heck his one and only competition for both his girls. His emotions were having a conflict of their own. On one hand, he was finally able to relax around Jacob, knowing that the reason for his connection with Bella was because of Renesmee. On the other, trying to explain the imprinting of their daughter to Bella was something he was not looking forward to, especially in her heightened state being a newborn.
Edward recalled the night the imprinting happened. His own anger engulfing him at first as the moment he realized Jacob imprinted, he broke the wolf's arm as he launched Jacob across the room. It was after that incident, when Jacob saved them from Sam and his pack, that he truly understood what Jacob intended. It was at that moment when Edward knew his daughter would always be safe.
While other members of the family tried to argue the merits for and against Jacob imprinting on Renesmee; Edward had no doubts that it would be a good thing if for nothing else, the protection of the wolves. Alice and his parents understood and were on Jacob's side, while Rosalie and Emmett not so much. Matter of fact, shortly after, when Jacob went to try and hold Renesmee, Rosalie quietly gave the baby to Alice and then attacked Jacob.
This was another moment Edward had grown admiration for Jacob because while he was being beaten and abused, he never fought back. Edward read his mind and he knew that if Jacob wanted to, he could shift and easily defeat Rosalie. But Jacob would not phase because his own life meant nothing to him if there was a chance Renesmee could get hurt, physically or emotionally.
It was also in that moment, while Rosalie was attacking Jacob, that Renesmee had screamed out in what sounded like a cry of severe pain. It was not just a cry out that she was hungry or needed changing, this was a scream for something else. When Edward read her thoughts, he quickly stepped in because what he found in his child's mind, was something he could never tell Rosalie and chance breaking his sister's heart. Renesmee would not stop screaming until Jacob held her and then of course she instantly went quiet, snuggling safely in his massive arms.
It was after that moment, and the moment after the imprint that Edward, knew without a doubt that Jacob was ultimately one of the best choices to protect Renesmee for the rest of her life.
Edward turned to his daughter's protector. "You'll just have to be patient with Bella. Remember, she is a Newborn, and while I know you can protect yourself, please try to use restraint as you've done these past few days."
Jacob couldn't help but swallow the lump in his throat. This was something he was so not looking forward to.

Okay… even after all the warnings, and playing it over and over in his mind, Jacob had to go and open his big mouth when Bella was holding her daughter. Way to go wolf boy, Jacob chided himself after being punched… for the second time by his one time best friend. Apparently his nickname for Bella's daughter was not as awesome as he originally thought.
Jacob remembered to try and look winded and hurt as he was sent billowing backwards into the forest. He hoped he was able to absorb most of the blow as to not hurt Bella.
Oh crap! Seth. Jacob never thought that Seth would get involved. Seth and Leah were the only ones besides apparently Edward that knew the true extent of his power. While Jacob thought that would be deterrent for his makeshift pack not getting involved, it never dawned on him that the little guy might actually be worried about Bella. 'Crap, crap, crap'.
Edward was just about to react, realizing this had gone on long enough when he saw his wife slam the young wolf into a nearby tree. That was enough, but then he could see the rage leaving his wife instantly as she saw what her actions did to the young wolf-ling.
Edward had to smile inwardly thinking that his wife was willing to beat the crap out of her so called best friend, but the moment she hurts Seth, her motherly instincts kicked in.
Jacob knew that this was the moment, this was the time to act as no matter what being a vampire did to Bella, he hoped that it did not diminish her love for him. It was then he continued his plea for her to understand about the imprint. He knew to be there for Nessie meant he had to convince Bella.
Jacob paused for a moment, realizing the extent of the connection with baby Nessie. If it came to it, he would use the full extent of his power to make sure no one kept her from him. He just prayed it would never come to that.

{Day Jacob Finds out the Cullen's were Leaving}
{Cullen's House}
Jacob was heartbroken as he slammed the front door to the Cullen's house shut, nearly shattering the door frame. How could they do this, just leave? He barely spent any time with Nessie and now they were going to leave, just because they couldn't take the chance Bella would be seen by Charlie?
The thought of them acting as if Bella was truly dead infuriated him even more. Charlie was a good man, someone Jacob had always been close to. The man had already suffered so much, and now, if they tell him that Bella has died… it would destroy him.
This wasn't fair. Just when he thought everything made sense, this was going to happen, they were just going to leave?
He saw Blondie with his Nessie and he had to see the little one, had to at least say goodbye until he could figure something out. His pack needed him, his dad needed him, and he would have to give up everything to stay with Nessie. He would do it of course, but at the cost to just hide Bella's secret, that did not seem like a justifiable reason, especially if he could change it.
He walked up to the vampire holding his precious gift. Little Nessie saw him and a smile erupted on her face as she reached for him to hold her.
"I'd like to hold her please. I need to at least say goodbye." Nessie's smile completely disappeared at his words, her tiny arms going limp as she started to pout. Jacob knew Nessie's tears were going to be following, they always did when he had to say goodbye, she must of sensed it.
Rosalie thought about it for a second, not wanting to give up the baby. It was unfair that the moment Jacob walked into a room, Renesmee wanted him. It was her turn to spend time with the baby and that is why she went outside, to get away from the worthless mutt.
"Please Rosalie, just let me say goodbye."
Rosalie heard the use of her real name for the first time by the dog and she actually almost took pity on him. Either way, he could have her now, because soon Renesmee would be all hers. "Here, try not to get your stink on her." She handed the baby off and then quickly left, not wanting to be around the interaction between the two.
The minute Jacob took Nessie in his arms, she pressed her head into his arm and started to cry. "It's going to be okay little one. I just have to say goodbye for now. Mommy and daddy want to take you away to be safe." He felt the little hand come to his cheek, her soft touch shaking from the sobs.
Renesmee projected a picture of Jacob in wolf form, her cuddled safely on his paws, using his giant snout as a protective blanket.
"I know sweetie, your Jacob will always keep you safe."
She then projected how sad she is every-time he leaves her.
Jacob kissed the top of her head. "Nessie, I honestly don't know what to do. I don't want to be away from you, but they're taking you from me. They have to keep your mommy a secret from Grandpa Charlie."
Jacob could see a confused look on Nessie's face. She then projected a picture of her daddy, and then an image of Carlisle. "Yes, Charlie is mommy's dad, like Carlisle is to daddy." Jacob knew Nessie had never met Charlie in person, but she seemed to understand who he was in relation to Bella, like Edward's Carlisle.
Renesmee projected a picture of Jacob taking her in his arms, and walking out through the house and into the woods, talking, and spending time with her. She projected how peaceful and happy she felt when he did this.
Jacob was a little confused at this. It couldn't be what he thought it meant. "Little one, I can't take you from your family, mommy and daddy would be really sad and I know you would be too."
Renesmee projected how upset she was when Rosalie was attacking him, and how sad she was when he had to say goodbye.
Jacob honestly didn't know what to do. How do you explain to a baby that the reason she had to leave was because of her mom changing into a Vampire and trying to keep that secret from her mom's father.
It was then Renesmee projected an image of Jacob phasing into a wolf.
Jacob didn't understand this projection. He knew Nessie always giggled when he phased but she had seemed so upset it seemed like an odd time for this projection.
Jacob moved her so he could hold her in the crook of his arm now, wanting to see her face a little better. He wiped the tears from her eyes as she now looked like she had determination in them.
"I don't understand little one. We can't let Grandpa Charlie know mommy is alive, it would be too hard to explain her… change."
She projected him phasing again along with a picture of her mommy, the look on her face almost begging him to understand.
Jacob shook his head trying to figure out what she meant. That's when it hit him. "You mean tell Grandpa Charlie that mommy is like me?" Nessie smiled up at him, burrowing back into his warm arms.
She projected one last image, an image of Jacob, holding her, telling her that he would never leave her.
Jacob smiled as Nessie was now fast a sleep in his arms. He was never that great at reading people, he didn't have to look farther than the mother of the little one he held in his arms to prove that point. But he and Nessie seemed to understand each other completely. Jacob figured the imprint must allow him that connection because there was nothing else that could explain it. Regardless what it was, they both had a plan, the first of many to come he was sure.
