Prince Gumball felt like his head was going to explode, he was so unfathomably fatigued. He had listened to about ten half hour speeches on hybrid plants, all of which he knew about already, and overly specific details about each one. The monotonous voices had droned on for hours now, and it was making his head hurt. The first three were fine, but after that, accepting the invite to this convention seemed like less of an ideal way to spend the day, even with the weather being as terrible as it was. The boredom was pushing it at five speeches, but now ten and counting? This was too much!
As one of the scientist was talking, she said something that stuck in Gumball's head, and one thought lead to another. "The rock crystal flowers one day just got up and walked away as if to go on an adventure and -" That was all Gumball listened to, for his mind was trailing to other thoughts.

I'd give up my throne to save her, I'd offer the wealth of the kingdom if she ever were ransomed, and I'd give anything to be with her right now. But no, I am stuck here at this science convention. Also, he thought with disdain, we could never be together. I simply do not possess her adventurous spirit. I have tried exceedingly hard to be wild, and free, like her, but my knowledge always gets the best of me. It's either Flame Prince or that wretched Marshall Lee who spends time with her. He's an incredibly bad influence on Fionna, always getting her into trouble, and forcing her into risky situations, and yet, they're friends. Gumball shook his head. Can this day get any worse? He wondered.
As if to prove a point, Peppermint Buttress came in and hurriedly whispered to him, "Prince Gumball, please come quickly!" Alarmed at the woman's frightfulness, Gumball rose from his seat.
"What is it?" he asked hurriedly.
She wrung her hands as she replied, "The Candy Kingdom is under siege!"
