The Danger Zone Diaries

So then, here we go with 'Day Two' of the new version of the infamously-popular Den of Delights, dubbed the Danger Zone diaries: to anyone who doesn't know what's going on, I suggest you go and look at the last entry in the Den and see what's what.

To anyone else, here we go with a response to my good friend Dis Lexic's 'Resurrection' Challenge and, like before, it will feature the Challenge Details at the end of the posting, so enjoy;

Anyway, here we go: Day Two: Sympathy for the Devil

"Don't turn your back on me, Harry Potter: I want you to look at me when I kill you. I want to see the light drain from your eyes!"

From where he was huddled behind the headstone, cowering – a feeling that he hated given whom he was cowering from – from the power of the Dark Lord and his overpowering presence, Harry felt his heart clench as he heard the man's voice challenging him.

He still couldn't believe everything that had happened to him as a result of the Tournament, but it looked as though Fate wasn't done being a bitch to him because she just had to throw him a curveball with Tom's resurrection. A resurrection that could have been avoided if he'd just been a bit smarter, a bit stronger and a bit more prepared for the tasks and the possibility of trouble.

After all, he was Harry James Potter: a boy who personified trouble and getting into it every damn year thus far.

And now, he was alone, helpless, powerless and unable to figure out a way to get out of the situation; even if he tried, he had to go through the Dark Lord to do it, so there was no hope there.

What was he supposed to do?

Go through?

It was crazy…and yet, it seemed like the only logical conclusion, especially given the fact that he was a Gryffindor who couldn't figure out anything by himself, wasn't that right?

Ah well, here goes.

Picking himself up, Harry held his wand tight in his hand as he turned, stepping around the headstone before, steeling himself, he faced the cocky, confident visage of the Dark Lord as he hissed, "Have it your way…Ex…"

"Avada Kedavra!" exclaimed Voldemort, the green flash of the Killing Curse flying from his wand at a speed that seemed to be empowered by the demented maniac's desire to kill Harry. Its magic was laced with murderous intent, with raw fire that burned through every fibre of the spell that Harry had been about to cast – a part of him hating himself: as if Expelliarmus would be enough to counter the Killing Curse – and, without mercy or restraint, the dark power of the curse struck Harry dead.

Unlike Cedric, Harry didn't go flying through the air or get thrown back by the waves of magic: instead, his body wavered, his eyes glazed over and, at long last, his thin, underappreciated form fell to the floor, hitting the ground with a thud.

Sympathy for the Devil

As the Death Eaters stared in disbelief, each one of them wondering if they'd just seen what they thought they'd seen, their trains of thought were derailed when they heard the Dark Lord let out a triumphant laugh, his red eyes glowing in the darkness as he gasped out four words they'd never thought they would hear.

"Harry Potter…is…dead…"

A few members of the Death Eaters whispered and murmured to themselves, but as Voldemort turned to them, Lucius Malfoy stepped forwards, his eyes filled with a mixture of surprise, disbelief and satisfaction as he walked past his lord, who watched him curiously, and over to the boy's body.

Lowering himself down, Lucius put two fingers to Harry's neck before, unseen by the Dark Lord, his eyes widened:

There was…a pulse!

Impossible!

As Lucius tried to think of what he was supposed to say, he lowered himself down before he whispered two words into the ear of the young boy.

"Don't move…"

He didn't know how, he didn't know why and he didn't know what he was really doing, but it was like some new instinct had taken over Lucius as, while he wondered how this…this miracle had happened, he kept his expression as neutral as he could as he looked at the Dark Lord before he smiled and nodded, signalling that the Dark Lord was right.

Harry Potter had fallen.

And yet, as Lucius rose up, he felt his heart turn cold with dread as he looked back at the boy, a part of him noticing that there was something different about Harry Potter's downed form.

Something dark…ancient…powerful and, once the coast was clear, Lucius knew one thing that would come to pass;

Change!

The only thing he couldn't work out was…how?

How had Harry Potter survived the impossible a second time when they'd all seen the curse hit him and he'd fallen?

And how and why did the thought of what the boy's secret was make Lucius feel something that he'd only ever felt in the presence of the man who crowed like a rooster at the victory he thought he'd won over his enemy?

Why in Merlin's name did Lucius feel so afraid of the thought of standing against this…this…whoever it was that had mastered Death?

He didn't know and, as much as he wanted to be the one to do the deed for his lord so that he never needed to find out, Lucius stayed his hand and kept his expression apathetic as he remembered something he'd been told as a child;

Sometimes, it was better to be at the right hand of the Devil than in his path.

But if that was true, then did that make Harry Potter the Devil?

No…that was impossible!

The Devil, Demons and creatures from the blackest pits of nightmares didn't exist.

Did they?

Sympathy for the Devil

So, there we go then: a nice little taster to open the Diaries and we see things filled with wonder and mystery: I don't know if this is the sort of thing that the creator had in mind, but it's an idea.

Challenge Information: On that fateful night at the Graveyard, Harry wasn't quite fast enough and Voldemort successfully killed him. Fortunately for Harry however, someone was watching and brought him back. Now with powers far and away beyond what most Wizards are capable of, he will take down Voldemort with the help of his new friends.

RULES! Any morality welcome, although it should reflect exactly who resurrected him

Naturally, it must start during the Graveyard, although whether or not people know that Harry died is up to you

Whoever resurrects him must be VERY powerful and, in turn, make Harry powerful

Naturally, Dumbledore and the Ministry must see Harry's resurrection as a bad thing and label him and his new boss as Dark...even if the person responsible is blatantly Light

Any Paring welcome

SUGGESTIONS! Creature Harry

Crossovers

Harry recruits some of his friends

FORBIDDEN! Weak Harry

Harry working with Dumbledore, the Ministry or Volde

Harry forsaking his master/race/powers

And here are a few ideas as to who could restore Harry and the connected crossovers:

Evil Pieces/Brave Saints, Highschool DXD

A Crimson Lord, Shakugan no Shana

The Outsider, Dishonoured

A Ghost, Destiny

A Death Knight, WoW

A Vampire, make it up

An Angel, Supernatural

The Tower Heart, Overlord

The Curse of Undeath, Dark Souls

The Blood of Yahnam, Bloodborne

Death itself since Harry is its Master, HP

A Black/White Lantern Ring, DC

And that'll do for now. I tried to think of something for Fate, but I couldn't think of any. Still, there are plenty there from all sorts of places. I'm eager to see what people come up with.

So, my idea would, in a way, be an Angel – no prizes for guessing which Angel – but instead of Supernatural, it would be a case of simple Angels and Demons or just Demons, I don't know yet, but that's why I came up with the Den and the Diaries in the first place: because it gives me time to figure things out.

I guess the only thing left to say is wait and see;
