Thor seemed quite distressed, he had a hard time coming to terms with what was being told to him.
He didn't want to believe it, but it made so much sense that he began doubting 'Odin's' motives for wanting to acquire the ring.
Aragorn on the other hand was having a very hard time coming to terms with what he had just seen Thor do.
He wasn't very certain of Thor but knew that to lose him would mean losing an opportunity to solve many problems plaguing Middle Earth.
The two stared at each other for a moment as they pondered, each conflicted within themselves.
Thor sighed "Very well, I see the urgency in your quest... my father was wrong once... he may be again." said Thor as he paced along the road at a hurried pace whilst carrying a wounded Frodo on his shoulders.
"So... I take it that means you shall be joining us..." said Aragorn with baited breath, anxious to have such a power on the side of good.
"I'm with you already aren't I?" said Thor as he looked at Aragorn.
Out of the hobbits the one who had the hardest time adjusting to Thor's presence was Peregrine Took.
He eyed the mighty Asgardian with caution and was very quiet the entire time.
The other hobbits, save Frodo who was going through an entire dilemma of his own, felt far greater at ease with having the mighty God of Thunder at their side.
Merry especially seemed quite elated at having such a powerful aid at his side after witnessing what Thor had done to the Ringwraiths.
The silence was broken by the shriek of a Ringwraith carrying through the wind.
"They're close!" said Merry, but then he looked at Thor and some of the tension seemed to alleviate from his face.
"They mean to test us, my previous encounter with them has lead to them being more cautious, that demon would be foolish to attack me all by itself." said Thor in a reassuring tone.
Frodo however gasped in pain at the shriek.
Thor seeming concerned set Frodo down.
'Strider' pondered hard and said "Sam, do you know the Athelas plant?"
Sam gave a blank look "Athelas?"
"Kingsfoil." said 'Strider'.
"Kingsfoil. Aye. It's a weed." said Sam.
"It may help to slow the poison. Hurry!" beckoned 'Strider'.
"Is he going to die?" said Pippin worriedly.
"No. He is passing into the shadow world, he will soon become a wraith like them." said 'Strider'.
"Wraith? Dark magic? Hmm I may be... never mind..." said Thor as he struggled to decide.
Merry took note of Thor's struggle and meant to say something but decided against it.
Sam and 'Strider' desperately searched the dark forest floor.
Thor felt something however, he raised his hammer and roared "Show yourself! I know you're there!".
A voice came forth from the shadows " Who are you?" it sounded alarmed.
"I am Thor Odinson, Prince of Asgard and heir to the throne, these people are under my protection, show yourself and we may speak." said Thor in a firm but lower voice.
A figure emerged from the shadows.
The female elf was fair with tousled flowing black hair.
'Strider' said something in a language unknown to Thor.
"She is a friend master Thor." said 'Strider' with a reassuring tone.
Thor let down his guard and said "Your friends have been through many perils M'lady, I only acted in their defence, please forgive my rude manners."
"The fault was mine, I should not have snuck upon you, I am Arwen, daughter of Elrond." said Arwen.
'Strider' and Arwen conversed in the language unknown to Thor once again, given the looks upon their faces it was clear to see that they were discussing how Thor came to assist them.
They seemed to be arguing, and then she took Frodo upon her horse.
"Where will you be taking him?" asked Thor.
"Rivendell, my father can heal him." said Arwen.
"Noro lim. Asfaloth. Noro lim." said Arwen as she galloped away at full speed.
"The demons will come after her and Frodo now that she has been separated from us. I'll accompany her." said Thor.
"She cannot afford to slow down master Thor, Frodo's life is at stake." said 'Strider'.
"I never said she had to." said Thor as he brandished his hammer.
For the first time 'Strider' saw what Pippin meant when he said he flew.
Thor spun Mjolnir at speeds which the others could barely see, and with a toss he flew out of sight fast enough to not be seen at all.
Thor had intentionally kept out of sight of Arwen and Frodo, instead opting to keep an eye on them from afar.
He intended to lull the Ringwraiths into attacking, so he could finally deal with them all together.
It was bright day as Arwen sped across open plains with Frodo.
Suddenly two Black Riders sped in from the woods behind, as two more came into view from the sides.
Three more Black Riders came in from the hilltop and two more came in from the other directions.
Thor looked onwards ready to step in.
Arwen sped her horse along as it without hesitation entered the shallow ford in front of them.
The Black Riders remained hot in pursuit but seemed nervous to enter the water.
"Give up the Halfling she-elf!" shrieked the Nazgul.
"If you want him, come and claim him!" she yelled back adamantly.
The Nazgul lead his fellows into the ford.
An intervention occurred however.
A blur of red and black thundered onto the ford.
"Stop! You shall go no further!" roared Thor.
The Nazguls shrieked and the Witch King shrieked "You! Your cheap magic tricks will not deceive me a second time! You are nothing before the combined power of the nine of us!"
"What are you here for?" shrieked one of the Nazgul.
"I've come to accept your surrender." said the Prince of Asgard confidently.
The Nazgul shrieked in a tone which seemed to indicate mockery.
"Very well, show me how your combined power does against this." said Thor as the look on his face turned serious.
The shining golden haired warrior raised his hammer into the air.
The sky which was bright suddenly became very dark as black clouds gathered over the Bruinen ford.
The Nazgul's mounts became very unsettled.
Suddenly a massive torrent of lightning came down upon Thor's hammer.
The hammer glowed blue with sparks of electricity running through it.
The Prince of Asgard then pounded Mjolnir into the shallow ford as dozens of streaks of blue lightning rushed down the ford's currents.
The result was unfortunate for the Nazgul.
Their black mounts were instantly slain and the thunderous currents also passed through many of the Nazgul themselves sending them hurtling off their mounts.
"Perhaps next time you'll make the right choice when facing the God of Thunder!" roared the Mighty Thor with a triumphant look upon his face.
The Nazgul were all in the water, many of them simply lay there showing no signs of movement.
The Witch King however slowly stirred to his feet.
He seemed rather shaky still and had a hard time doing so.
"Have you decided to surrender yet?" said Thor with a smirk upon his face.
"The Dark Lord shall hear of this!" shrieked the Witch King as he futilely attempted to raise his sword in his broken state.
"Very well, you leave me no choice." said Thor as he pointed his hammer towards the Dark Lord's most powerful minion.
With a spark a blue streak flew from Mjolnir and struck the Witch King sending him hurdling to the ground.
"Tell your Dark Lord to cease his evil acts or I shall come for him next!" roared Thor.
"Ruvenel Aina! Master Thor... it seems that 'Strider' has not told me all there is to know." said Arwen with an astonished look upon her face.
"There will be a time for talk but it is not now, you must hurry to Rivendell M'lady." said Thor in an urgent tone.
Arwen nodded and sped off towards Rivendell.
Thor then spun his hammer once more and flew off into the distance with a hurl.
How would the free people of Middle Earth view the God of Thunder? How would Sauron view this new challenge to his power?
