Sam watched from the shadows as Dean pocketed his winnings, murmuring his thanks.
Suddenly, Dean was surrounded; his last competitor's two friends at his side and back. Dean's biggest mark grabbed his hand. "Not so fast."
Sam stealthily crept behind the idiot threatening Dean, knife smoothly at the man's throat. "Leave him alone." Sam's voice was softly lethal. "Getthehellawayfromhere, now. Take your friends, too."
"Okay, w-we're going." The man swallowed, relieved when the knife eased from his throat. He and his friends scattered.
"Thanks, Sammy." Dean slapped his back. "Y'wanna beer?"
"Just one." Sam remained vigilant; it wasn't midnight yet.
