Fuck me.
The Hokage's dead.
Everyone's dead.
Only me.
And I'm supposed to stay here in this fucking closet with nothing but a tape recorder to keep me company.
Well, might as well start at the beginning.
It first started at festival season, everyone was happy, but they avoided one area.
It was a gazebo, a little south of my house. But despite their revulsion to it, they decorated it with hanging balloons. I decided to check it out, and I noticed one thing.
The smell.
It was a horrible, rotting smell, and it seemed to come from a balloon. So I took a stick, and bashed it open. I found a doll, about a foot tall. It looked like a cartoony skeleton, but with a cape that seemed to be made of leather. I noticed some words carved on the back of its head.

I decided it was probably some hoodlums who put a stink bomb in there for laughs and the doll was some poor kid's toy. So I went to the lost and found, but on the way there, it seemed like the adults were unnerved by seeing the doll.
I don't blame them, it was kind of creepy, the skeleton was too accurate, and the cape had to be made of leather, but not like any other leather of felt before…. So I kept on walking, until a kid went up to me and said, "Hey, I know that doll! I saw it in a puppet show!" I asked him to fill me in, and he told me that the skin taker was a youkai that was the ghost of a child who skinned and took the personage of other children.
Then I looked at the cape one last time. It was sort of un-drying, the leather became soft, and it grew a bit.
The kid asked if he could have it, to scare his sister, I gave him it, and ran.
I did not want to be a part of this.
Next morning, it was the festival, and to put my mind off that doll, I decided to go to it. I played some games, bought some souvenirs, then I saw the kid. He seemed to be sick, moving in a corpse like fashion. Then I saw something, around his neck was a stitch that wasn't there before, and another on his arm. Then I looked at the back of his head, and I saw two words.
