Disclaimer: I do not own anything but the plot

I really love this story, so I decided to immediately start writing the second chapter. As someone kindly pointed out, I forgot to explain how Elena survived the sacrifice if Gibbs was her dad, or even how Gibbs was still alive because of it. The reason is Elena didn't know Gibbs was her biological father until after the sacrifice, when Gibbs managed to convince Vance to let him have some time off to go to John and Jenna's funerals. He couldn't be there for the sacrifice, so John stepped in. John's essence was still tied to Elena, which was how she came back. Hope that cleared things up.

And thanks to TheElegantFaerie for helping me with some plot holes I need to fill. I owe you.

Chapter 2:

"How?" Was all Ducky could choke out. "How is this possible?"

Elena looked at him, confusion clearly written on her face. "How's what possible?" She asked. She looked around, and for the first time noticed her surroundings. "Why am I in Autopsy?" She asked, panic evident in her voice. He noticed the fear in her eyes when she looked at him. "Ducky, what's going on?"

Before Ducky could reply, or say anything, the doors to Autopsy opened. Both of their heads turned in unison to look at the person.

Gibbs stood in the doorway, staring at Elena in shock. He stepped into Autopsy, letting the doors behind him close, and began walking towards Elena.

"Dad? What happened?" She asked, pleading with her eyes. Gibbs let out a sigh and turned to Ducky.

"Duck? Can you get the rest of the team? There's something all of you should know." He said. Ducky nodded before getting up and leaving Autopsy, giving Elena one last look of disbelief before the doors closed. "What do you remember?" He asked, turning to Elena.

Her face scrunched up. "Matt and I were leaving town and Rebekah stood in front of us. Matt swerved and we flew off into the water…" Her eyes widened. "Oh my God, Matt!" She said, bolting upright, looking like she was about to have a panic attack.

"He's fine, Elena. Stefan managed to get him out in time." Gibbs assured her, putting a hand on her shoulder in comfort. She visibly relaxed.

"Good, I thought it might have been too late." She said. "Wait, then how did he-?" She continued, eyebrows drawn in confusion. "And how did I wind up here?"

Gibbs sighed again hating to be the one to break the news to her that she was in transition to be the one thing she never wanted to be. "Save you? He didn't. There wasn't enough time to save both of you." He answered, watching her face as she put the pieces together. "I arranged for you to be transferred here." He added.

"Oh my God. Am I, am I-?" She began, looking at him for confirmation. He nodded, feeling his heart break as her face crumpled.

Just then the rest of the team, plus Jeremy, chose to enter. They all stared at Elena in shock and disbelief, though Gibbs knew only Jeremy knew how this was possible.

Gibbs looked at Elena before looking at the rest of the team. "There's something all of you should know. Something you're not going to believe, but deserve to know." He began.

Back in Mystic Falls, deep in the old part of the cemetery, Damon was busy digging a hole for his one and only best friend. Normally he would compel someone else to do this, or just dump the body in some random place, but this was Alaric. His best friend, his drinking buddy, his partner in crime, hell, his brother.

Next to the hole was an already half empty bottle of bourbon that Damon had been steadily drinking his way through to numb the pain caused by the loss of both Ric and Elena.

"Elena's gone, your gone, who's next? Stefan?" Damon asked, glancing at Alaric's body as he did so. He knew he wouldn't receive an answer, but it felt good to pretend Alaric really could answer him.

"He could have saved her, you know. Stefan. But instead he had to go along and save Matt, knowing full well the chances of getting her out alive as well were practically non-existent after he'd saved Matt." He continued, feeling anger for his younger brother.

He could practically hear Ric saying "You know she would have just kept refusing until he saved Matt."

"It never was going to be me, Ric." He said suddenly, stabbing the earth with the shovel. "Never. She told me on our drive back here from Denver that there was already someone else she was in love with. She never said who though. After this, I'm leaving. I'm done with Mystic Falls and everyone in it." He added, shoveling one last pile of dirt.

Damon picked up the bourbon and took a swig, failing to notice the return of color to Alaric's body. He only turned around when he heard a groan.

He felt his widen as he took what was in front of him.

There was Alaric, looking very much alive, wincing as he sat up and looked at Damon. "Damon?" He asked.

The vampire could only nod, stunned speechless for the first time in over a century. He listened carefully, and to his relief and joy, could hear the faint beating of Alaric's heart. "Can you stand?" He asked. He knew he should be wondering how the hell Alaric was alive since him and Elena had been connected, but he was too busy wrapping his head around the fact his best friend was alive again to worry about that.

Alaric nodded and leaned on one of the trees for support as he stood up. "How the hell is this possible?" He asked. Damon shrugged.

"I don't know. I have some theories though." He said, running the most likely possibilities over in his head. Most of them he didn't like. "First we should get you out of here though." He added.

Damon let Alaric lean on him for support as the two made their way out of the woods and towards the former's car.

"What is it boss?" Tony heard McGee ask. He wasn't paying attention; he was too busy staring at Elena. He knew he shouldn't, but it was so hard not to. He was afraid that if he looked away, she would go back to being dead. He wanted to know how she was alive, sure, but he was too happy that she was alive to care.

"Vampires and other creatures exist." Gibbs said bluntly. That caused Tony to tear his gaze away from Elena long enough to stare at Gibbs. From the corner of his eye, he could see the others were staring at him as well.

"You mean like Dracula?" He asked, hoping that was the case and not the sparkling Twilight fairies, though the idea of vampires existing was absurd. They were just myths, tales told to scare children. The others, with the exceptions of Elena and Jeremy, chimed in with "How is that possible?" and "Are you sure you're feeling alright Jethro?"

"Give me a chance and I'll explain everything." Gibbs said, interrupting their questions. "Yes, it is entirely possible. Vampires, along with other creatures such as werewolves, witches, hybrids, and doppelgangers exist."

"And ghosts." Jeremy chimed in. They looked at him before turning back to Gibbs.

"Garlic, holy water, and mirrors are a myth concerning vampires. Vervain weakens them, burns them, and can kill them if they're infected with enough of it. A stake to the heart is fatal. Sunlight will burn them unless they have a piece of Lapis Lazuli jewelry spelled by a witch." Gibbs explained, pulling something out of his pocket as he did.

Tony looked at it. It was a plant of some sort, with a tiny purple flower.

"This is vervain." He explained. "It can also prevent you from compulsion."

"Compulsion?" Kate asked.

"It's sort of like mind control. A vampire can use it to make you forget something, make you do something, or even alter your memory to the point it's something different. It's almost impossible to fight, and you aren't even aware of it." Jeremy explained. "The only time you'll remember being compelled is if you become a vampire, then it wears off. Or the vampire removes it."

"That is both cool and creepy at the same time." Abby said.

"Why are you telling us this now?" Ducky interrupted.

Tony looked at Elena, and noticed how she looked like she had heard this before. "It has to do with Elena, doesn't it?" He asked, his stomach feeling sick as he said it.

They watched as Jeremy, Elena, and Gibbs exchanged glances, waiting for news wither or not it did concern Elena. Gibbs nodded.

"Yes, it does." He said. They could all tell he was stalling, but for what they didn't know. "You become a vampire by dying in some way, shape, or form with a vampire's blood in your system. When you wake up, you have twenty four hours to feed on human blood or die for real." He explained.

"But what does this have to do with Elena?" Ziva asked.

It was Elena who answered. "I'm in transition." She said, looking away from the team, not wanting to see the looks of horror, shock, and probably disgust they were sure to have.

Tony could only stare like the others, feeling his head spin. The girl he was in love with was in transition to become a vampire. It was too much for one day, let alone night.

"You said you had theories. What are they?" Alaric asked, turning to face Damon. The two were sitting in the vampire's car, going who knows where.

"Esther tied you and Elena's life forces together, right?" He said. "So that when she died, you would die?" Alaric nodded. "Elena definitely died when her and Matt went off that bridge, though somehow you're sitting here talking to me as a human which should be impossible."

"What are you saying?" He asked Damon.

"I'm saying the spell Esther cast tying you and Elena somehow broke, and if you're suddenly alive and human again, then it makes sense Elena's also alive. And it wasn't no miracle." He replied.

"You think Elena's in transition?" Alaric asked.

"Think about it! You two were tied to each other, if Elena comes back from the dead as something other than human, it would make sense for you to come back as the opposite as well." Damon said.

"Do you think we're still connected?"

Damon shook his head. "The purpose for that would have died out when you came back human." He suddenly stepped on the gas, accelerating their speed a great deal.

Before Alaric could ask what the hell he was doing, he added, "We're going to find Elena."

The team now knows about vampires and Elena being in transition, and Alaric's alive. I just couldn't kill him off; he was one of the best characters on the show! I'm planning on starting another Harry Potter/Vampire Diaries crossover, probably one with a Harry/Elena pairing. Not that anyone cares. Thanks to everyone who reviewed last chapter! I hope this one didn't disappoint. Sorry about how short it is, and if anyone's OOC.
