First Day

(Renesmee's POV)

I look all around in the classroom, watching the other children interact with one another. Many of them are talking and laughing. Meanwhile I just stood there looking at them. I honestly don't know what to do. I've never been to school before and I'm nervous. I didn't want to say anything to Jakey, Momma, or Daddy to make them nervous too, but I'm a bit scared. All I need is for Jacob or Daddy to find a way to pull me out immediately from the school. I know they mean well, it's just they both can get very over protective of me. I want to go through with this. I want a normal childhood and going to school is included in that.

You know, this is basically my first time alone without anyone. Not even with my parents, Jacob, Aunt Alice, Aunt Rosalie, Uncle Jazz, Uncle Emmett, Grandma or Grandpa.

I was on my own today. It was strange but I found it somewhat thrilling. Being on my own for the first time made me feel like I was becoming older. I like it.

"Renesmee, you'll have a fun time this year, I promise you that," Miss Derek said to me with a bright smile. She is a young woman with long brown hair and bright blue eyes. She has to be somewhere in her early twenties. I can tell right away that she's someone I can trust and that she'll be nice to me. Anyway Aunt Alice told me the other day that I was going to love my teacher, and normally Auntie Alice is right with these things.

"Okay," I said shyly. I still get shy around people even though I'm confident about school.

"Oh good. Why don't you sit next to Irene over there, she's a sweetheart. Don't worry I have a feeling you two will be friends in no time," my teacher pointed to a girl with hazel curls and big brown eyes. "She sits in a group with Nikki, Sarah, and Richie."

"Alright, thank you," I tell my teacher.

"No problem. We'll began class soon," Miss Derek told me with a smile as I skipped over to my new group. Please let the kids like me.

"Hi," I said timidly to the group of kids at the table. They all stop their conversation to look at me, causing me to bite my lip. The girl with hazel curls was the first to give me a big smile.

"Are you Rinsmee?" a boy with blonde hair and gray eyes asked. I frown slightly as he mispronounced my name.

"It's actually Renesmee but I like to be called Nessie...How did you know my name?" I questioned curiously, wondering how this boy already knew who I was.

"It's on your desk," he said, chuckling as I pointed to the name tag on the desk.

"Oh yeah, right," I stammered. I could feel the blush creeping onto my cheeks from embarrassment. I quickly go to sit down at my desk with the kids still starring at me.

"It's okay, Richie is like that with everyone," Irene told me quietly.

"What can I say, I'm a pain in the butt," Richie replied, grinning like a fool. The others either giggled or rolled their eyes at him. That's when a girl with curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes turned to me from across the table.

"Hi! I'm Nicole but you can call me Nikki...So Nessie did you just move here or not, because I'm pretty sure you weren't here last year," she said to me.

"I just moved here," I explained, using the story Daddy and Grandpa told me to tell people.

"That's cool. I'm Sarah by the way," A girl with straight black hair and green eyes said. "Do you have any siblings?"

"No. You see I was just adopted into a family. My real parents died and I just found my Uncle Edward and Aunt Bella. My Uncle Edward was my daddy's brother. My aunt and uncle took me in, but since my uncle was adopted into a family and is underage I have a whole new big family. I have a bunch of new Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents," I explained.

"Oh my gosh, sorry to hear about your parents," Irene told me sincerely.

"It's okay, I am happy I have a family," I said optimistically, trying to reassure her that it didn't hurt my feelings.

"Okay class, time to began!" Miss Derek then exclaimed, bringing us out of the conversation.

We learned all the new things we would be starting this year in class and I couldn't wait. I know most kids don't like school, but for my first time being here I'm really excited. I couldn't wait to have a real project, but I'm not too thrilled about the homework. Though, with my vampire abilities I can probably whip through it really fast.

Soon the bell rang indicating it is time for lunch. We all had lunch together with the other third and fourth graders. The cafeteria wasn't too far from our classroom, but I did get a good look of the school.

"Ness you should come sit with us," Irene said as we entered the lunchroom.

"Sure," I said as Irene grabs my hand, taking me over to the lunch table where Nikki, Sarah, and Richie are. I sat down next to Irene and Sarah while Richie and Nikki were right across from us.

"So, how do you like the school so far?" Sarah asked me. I shrugged as I took a bite of an apple from my lunch. Since I I'm very half and half when it comes to human food or blood, I normally eat very light human food.

"I like it. It seems fun," I said, smiling as I bit into my apple.

"Good, because I have to say, you wouldn't make a bad addition to our group," Richie said, getting a playful smack from Nikki on the arm.

"Don't call it a group. It sounds like a clique," She said, rolling her eyes.

"What!? Can't I make a girl feel welcomed?" He questioned, causing the rest of us to giggle.

"Yeah...Anyway, what he meant was he thinks you'll be fun to have as a friend," Sarah interrupted, smiling towards me. "And, also, ignore anything else like that, that comes out of his mouth. His Mommy dropped him on his head when he was a baby."

"Hey, I that's not true!" he cried out. We all then started to burst out into laughter and soon we were beginning other conversations.

What I learned about them is that Richie is the funny one and can make anyone laugh, Nikki is a girl with a tough exterior but she seemed soft on the inside when you got to know her, and Irene and Sarah are both sweethearts and unique in their own ways. I can't wait to tell Momma and Daddy about my new friends. Oh, and Jakey! He'll be so happy to know I'm having a good time.

A teacher ended up calling us outside for recess once lunch was done. I'm really excited for this part of the day since it's when we get to play.

I then ran out the doors with my new friends to the massive playground. I followed them to a corner of the playground, right by the woods. The woods were gated off from the playground with a huge white fence.

"So Nessie, wanna play house with us? You can chose what you want to be," Irene asked as she sat down on the edge of a play set.

"So far I'm the baby of the family, Richie is the dad, Irene is the mommy, and Nikki is the cat. What do you want to be?" Sarah asked me.

"I'll be the dog," I exclaimed, smiling happily as I thought about my wolf, Jacob. I bet he'll get a kick out of this when he hears I was a dog for house.

"Alright, guess that means you have to chase Nikki," Richie snickered.

I looked at Nikki, who began to run, so I chased after her. I was able to keep up with her using a bit of vampire speed but made sure to keep it very human. She was no match for me as I caught her. We both laughed and joined in on the game of house again.

Richie then got bored and decided to go play kick ball with the other guys while us girls continued on with our game until the recess bell rang, indicating recess was done for the day.

I love school so much, I really can't wait to tell everyone about my day!
