"Mother, why? Why would you do that to Lydia?" Lizzie felt like she was falling into a deep pit of eternal carnage and darkness.
"Well, I just thought that they were so cut together and-" Lizzie cut off her mother's southern drawl, not with words but with walking away. She made her way to William and sat down, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Lizzie? Lizzie, whats wrong?" His hand moved up and down like the first time they had had this conversation.
"Wi... Wi..." She couldn't form the word. So instead she got up and quickly made her way to the ladies bathroom. She wouldn't let him see her cry on her wedding day.
She heard the door open and spun around to see Lydia standing there. "Whats wrong? You never run from Darcenator."
"Gigi. We need Gigi." Lizzie was grabbing the fabric of her dress, thinking it would giver her support. Lydia left and shortly returned with her newest sister.
"Lizzie, please. Tell us what is going on." Gigi maneuvered Lizzie like she had the day she had thrown William into her temporary office at Pemberly.
"She invited him. How could mom invite him?" Lizzie looked up at her younger sisters.
"Who did mom invite, Lizzie?" Lydia sat next to her and pulled Lizzie's hands off her dress. Lizzie couldn't answer.
"Lizzie, do I need to get William?" Gigi moved to the door.
"NO!" Her head snapped up. "He can't know." Her voice had dropped to a whisper.
"Then tell us." Gigi sat on her other side."Yeah. Were totes here for you." Lydia smiled. She had been working more of her old vocabulary into bad situations. It usually helped. Usually.
"Wickham." Lizzie ducked her head. "My mother invited George Wickham to my wedding."
It was silent for what seemed like eternity. They had all had their hearts broken by him, but Lizzie had it easiest of the three. She couldn't imagine what was going through the heads of her little sisters.
"We'll take care of it. And I promise, your new hubby won't know." Lydia stood up and pulled Lizzie to her feet. "You should tell him though. You know you guys have a bad history with secrets." The two of them left the bathroom and Lizzie took a few deep breaths. It took all of three seconds for her to decide that Lydia was right. William had to know, and she would have to be the be to tell him.
When she opened the bathroom door, she saw William leaning against the wall across from her, arms crossed, looking as incredibly hot as always. He straightened himself and she took a few steps int his now awaiting arms.
"Lizzie, won't you tell me whats happening?" He held her close to his chest.
"Not here. Lets go outside. Please?" He kept one arm wrapped tightly around her as they went outside onto the balcony. Unfortunately, the subject they wanted to discuss was waiting. Lizzie tensed and tried to push William back into the reception.
"Hello Lizzie Bennet." He tried to smile as he saw her in William's grasp. "Had to say I was surprised to hear you were marring this tool. Then again, like mother like daughter, right? Should I warn him about your debts, or should I just tell him about the videos. Have to say, I don't know what you said about him on the later ones but he should know what you really think. How much did it take to convince him to marry you so you could pay off your loans? Was it a fake pregnancy?" Lizzie lost it. She wiggled out of Will's grasp and swung at him. He ducked out of the way and William pulled her back into his arms.
"Go away, George." She heard her sister behind her.
"No one wants you here." She felt William tense at Gigi's voice.
"Hey peach." He leaned against the rail of the balcony.
"Don't call me peach." They both said in unison.
"Take her inside William. We'll take care of this." Gigi stepped out in front of them.
"He wont bother you." Lydia joined Gigi's four of them stood there for a few seconds and William pulled Lizzie inside. They passed Fitz as he was going outside to the balcony, looking determined to help.
