2. 1 Make a Wish

Roxanne smiles, looking around at her family as they straggle—horribly off-tune and making weird noises between each phrase—through "Happy (Eleventh) Birthday to You". Finally, they finish, cheering loudly for Roxanne.

"Blow canle, 'Oxy!" shouts two-year-old Lucy excitedly, perched in Aunt Audrey's arms and clapping her chubby hands.

"Swallow before you blow," smirks Uncle Ron. Roxanne rolls her eyes.

"Make a wish, Roxy," Mum whispers. Roxanne closes her eyes.

I wish… I wish that I could freeze this moment forever, she thinks.

And with a smile and a long puff of air, she extinguishes each bright candle.
