Chapter One, March 15; Wright and Co Law Offices
For once, Phoenix Wright has complete silence in his office. No Maya bouncing around, gushing about the newest Nickel Samurai episode, all while poking him trying to get him to go get burgers with her. Complete and total silence. Phoenix cherished these few moments. Until Maya loudly got Pearl to convince him to do something.
"But Mystic Maya, why don't you ask Mr. Nick? He would do anything for you. I bet he would... cross a burning bridge for you!"
"Pearly, Nick is an old fart. He doesn't know what fun is!" At this, Phoenix looked over and saw Pearl talking to Maya who was trying to hide behind Charley the house plant. It really wasn't working.
"Maya, what... wait, never mind. I don't think I want to know." Phoenix said, returning to his work.
"But Nick! This is something you would want to know! I got a letter from my cousin, Kaya who lives and trains up in the mountains. And guess what Nick! SHE WANTS US TO SEE WHAT HER TRAINING IS LIKE!" Maya screamed happily, bouncing up and down. Phoenix just gave her a weird look.
"Maya, do you remember what happened the last time I went to a temple to train with you? I fell into a freezing cold river and you were attacked. I'm never training with you again." And with that, Phoenix started working again, not noticing Pearl's sad face, screwed up like she was going to cry. And she did.
"WAH! MR. NICK DOESN'T LOVE US ANYMORE!"
"Nick, look what you've done to Pearly. She's crying now. Then people will wonder what Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney does to little children, then you will get arrested and no one would defend you then you will GO TO JAIL!"
"So?"
"SO!? Nick, someone like you couldn't survive in jail."
"Why not?"
Maya looked at Phoenix, got real close to him and said, really weirdly, "Come here Spike Boy. Defend your Daddy." Phoenix just raised his eyebrows and looked at Maya.
"I'm telling you. It would happen."
"Maya, I'm almost afraid to ask, but HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS!?"
"I've seen it on T.V and stories online."
"So you're saying, I would be someone's b-..."
At that, Maya cut him off by screaming, "COME ON NICK! Kaya wants to meet you. Really badly. And she's never met Pearly. PLEASE NICK! If you do this, I will never ask for anything again." Maya begged. Phoenix thought about it and came to his decision.
"Alright, I'll go." At that Pearl stopped crying and latched onto Phoenix.
"MR. NICK I LOVE YOU AGAIN!"
