Jason stood on stage as he greeted the Victors of the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. It was against his wishes. Not that he had any hatred to them, but he hated whatever the Capital made him do.
He watched as Peeta gave his speech. It was nice that they felt remorse for what happened in the arena even thought it wasn't their fault.
The real trouble, however, started when Katniss gave her speech.
"I just wanted to say that I didn't know Thresh." She said. "I only spoke to him once. He could've killed me but instead he showed me mercy. That's a debt I'll never be able to repay."
She then looked over to Jason on the side of the stage.
"I did know Rue." She said looking straight into his eyes. "She wasn't just my ally. She was my friend. I see her in the flowers that grow in the meadow by my house. I hear her when Mocking Jays sing. I see her in my sister Prim. She was too young…too gentle. And I couldn't save her. I'm sorry."
Jason wiped the tears from his eyes and nodded to her and Peeta. No matter what, they truly felt sorry for the damage that was caused by the Capital.
But all hell broke loose.
Jason looked to the crowd to see his father raising the three-finger salute.
"Father." Jason whispered.
The rest of the crowd followed him and raised the three-finger salute. This led to the Peace Keepers running into the crowd and plucking his father. They dragged him to the stage.
Anger filled through Jason's veins as he ran to the stage. However, someone pulled him back. Their hands were around his waist as he tried to get to his father.
"No! Please!" Jason yelled at the peacekeeper. The helmet turned his way before bringing out a gun.
Jason was pulled into the building. His eyes never left his father. His father looked at him before the door closed. Just before the door blocked the sight, the small gap showed the gun going off and his father falling lifelessly to the ground.
"No!" Jason screamed.
He thrashed in the person's arms as he clawed his way to the door.
"Let go of me. I'll kill them!" He yelled.
He finally stopped when the arms wouldn't give up leant back against the chest behind him.
"I'll kill them." He sobbed as he gave into the darkness and passed out.
