Chapter two: Seeking Harry

Ginny could not believe it.

It was all over. The war was finished. The battle was done.

And you could see it.

Hogwarts was in ruins. The great hall, although battered and bruised, housed many students and their families. Ginny cautiously stepped over a sleeping wizard. Running from the great hall, she made her way towards the Fat Lady's portrait. "Hello." Ginny jumped back in shock, and in a second, she had her wand out, in a fighting stance, prepared to take on whoever spoke. "No, no, dearie. It's me. The portrait." Ginny blushed and looked at the painting.

"Sorry." She muttered, looking at the floor. "War does that to you." She smiled sheepishly at the painting.

"That's okay. But heavens! You look horrible! Go in, get some sleep!" The painting swung open.

"Actually, I want to find Harry. Have you seen him?" She asked the Fat Lady.

"Him? Oh, he just went in. Looked awful. I dare say he'll be asleep for a while."

"Oh." Ginny could not hide her disappointment. Entering the common room, she saw Ron, asleep on a couch. While tiptoeing to the girls staircase, she realized that Hermione was sleeping on top of Ron.

"Look's like they finally figured it out." Ginny whirled around, again, with her wand ready. Two blazing emerald eyes stared back at her. "Ginny..." And in a moment, he was holding her, or maybe she was holding him, but neither cared. All they wanted was to be back in each others warm embrace. "I missed you. Oh Ginny, I missed you." Ginny struggled to find her voice.

"H-Ha-Harry..." She muttered. And no words were said, but they suddenly understood each other. She kissed him passionately, driving all the feelings she had been harbouring into that kiss, and so did he. Then, with a sheepish glance towards Ron, Harry took her hand and pulled her towards the portrait door. Quietly, they walked towards the lake. "Your supposed to be asleep."

"I woke up. Had a bad dream, I guess." Harry purposely decided to forget about meeting Death. That conversation would have to wait. "I watched you." Harry stated while gazing at the lake.

"What?"

"I watched you every night on the marauders map."

"Every night?"

"Every night." Harry took her hand in his. "You were the only thing that kept me going, you know. And when I died, the last thing I thought about was you." Tears were streaming down Ginny's face.

"Why?" She asked quietly.

"Because I love you."
