Well, sorry I didn't update sooner. I was in a place without internet. Besides, my arms hurt like hell from being sunburned. I never tan, just burn. WHY SUN? WHY DO YOU HATE ME?!
So on with the story!

Chapter 2: Dragon Heritage

Ryoko's PoV…

Drip. Drip. Drip.

I could hear the repeated fall of water. Not too far away was a deep yet soothing sound of breathing.

"Wake up little one," It was a growl, yet I could still understand the soft order. The growl was smooth and kind unlike others I've heard. Curiously, I cracked my eyes open. With a glance around I recognized it to be some kind of ice cavern. Yet it felt warm rather than cold. "I see you are doing well," Sitting up I see that there is something large sitting next to me. "Can you focus your eyes well," Large scales that went from light blue to a deep night blue shade covered its body which was about as big as a normal sized car. A long tail curled around its body and mine. Its paws, lined with large razor-sharp talons, held its head which was delicate formed. A longish snout, sharp teeth, and long horns on both sides above the ears. Its eyes seemed like two gems in an ice-blue shade of mine. The large wings were neatly folded, covering the majority of its back.

The name of this beast was one I knew well. It was at the tip of my tongue, yet it would not come out. "Your eyes seem to focus better now," her voice (I knew it was a 'her' by the tone) broke me out of my observation, bringing my attention back to her gem like eyes. "I am Demiyah, a Yuki Dragon. I have waited a long time for you to arrive little one."

A Dragon. A real live dragon was laying here in front of me and I was only intrigued. You could almost say I was excited. It's strange for someone to not be afraid like a normal person, but who said I was normal? "Where am I?" I asked the majestic beast.

"We are deep within your subconscious, little one."

"Why is my subconscious like this? Why did others say dragons were evil?" I want to know more of this place and this magnificent creature, for I felt a familiarity with her. Besides, I was very annoyed at what people said about dragons and I wanted to know why.

"Humans feared us because we were different. It is in their nature to fear and hate that which they do not understand. That is why we were not often treated kindly. Many Clans became angry and retaliated. That only made the human's fear grow. Yet, there were other Clans that understood human reasoning. Sadly there were too few." Her voice was saddened by that, yet she continued, her mood brightening, "Though there was one human couple that seemed to understand us. The Dragons became fond of the human couple so they took them back to their clan."

"What happened to them?" I ask, looking much like a kid being told a story. Which was most likely true considering dragons aged differently than a human.

"The leader gave the couple a choice. If they so wished, they could become a part of the clan," That caught me by surprise, but I stayed quiet, "The couple was confused. They hesitated, wondering if it was even possible. But they trusted the dragons and so they accepted."

"How did they join? Dragons have a much longer time span than humans. They would not have lasted long without some sort of way."

"They were given some of the elder's blood."

That completely floored me. "To drink the blood of a Dragon is unheard of. A Dragon's blood should be like poison to humans."

"It's not entirely true. A dragon's blood is just too strong for those with a weak will, so they are overpowered and eventually die. Those who have strong enough wills, which were extremely rare, could withstand the transformation and live on. Many knew them as Dragons in human form. The human couple did indeed survive."

"Excuse my rudeness, but what does this have to do with me?"

"Why, you are the direct descendent of that couple."

I was speechless, completely shocked, but realization dawned on me. It all made since now. This explained my strangeness since I was born, but there was something that still bothered me, "Why are you here then, Demiyah?"

"I am your Dragon blood. I've been going down your family's blood line since the very beginning." Was her simple answer. This intrigued me and I wanted to ask more, but she spoke again. "You will be waking up soon. We shall speak again in due time. Farewell, and remember to listen to your instincts."

The ice cavern soon began to fade into darkness. Next thing I knew was wakening up to the sound of waves, bobbles popping, and screams …
