Cody's POV:
"Looks like the Codemeister's finally got it!" Both Mike and Noah cheered as they drank a shot of whiskey before the prom. The same whiskey of which I was drinking bottles at a time.
"Don't get your hopes up guys, you sure it wasn't just coz she felt sorry for me?" I asked between chugs.
They both looked at me as if I was dumb or crazy... or both.
"Dude, you got kissed by Gwen!" Mike cheered again.
Noah nodded his head and smirked. "Yeah, even if it was a sympathy kiss, enjoy it."
This prom was gonna be a lonely hell. Mike'll be with Zoey, understandably. Noah said he'll be chilling with Owen and Izzy, leaving me as the lonely kid in the corner drinking till the cows come home.
"Just to be on the safe side, I'd stay..." Mike glanced at the empty bottles of whiskey that were lying at the side of my bed, which were full when I got them. "As sober as possible, cuz."
"Yeah, and if it was a sympathy kiss, don't look to disappointed in front of her," Noah added, also seemingly noticing the whiskey bottles. "Which will be either extremely easy or extremely hard considering how much you've had already."
Gwen's POV:
I was getting ready with Leshawna, Bridgette and Zoey when they brought up that kiss.
"I heard you kissed Cody," Zoey smirked. "Can you tell us about it Gwen?"
"Where did you-" I tried to ask before being cut off by Leshawna.
"Let's be real girl, the guys haven't really been quiet about it," she remarked with her usual sass. "You know how much of a breakthrough this is for Cody's life right?"
Of course I do," I replied, feeling myself blush a bright red. "I'm getting feelings for him, and I think I have been since I ended things with Duncan."
I meant every word of that sentence. I've been in denial of that fact for a while. I don't know what it was about what he said yesterday but it made me realise how much he thinks of me, how much he loves me, and that I love him back.
"You gotta tell him, Gwen, he thinks it was a sympathy kiss!" Bridgette exclaimed.
"You're right, Bridge," I replied, with a burning passion in my soul. "I can't let him think it was a sympathy kiss!"
Cody's POV:
Look at me, my spiral downhill has only continued to the point of drunken, sick, lonely slob in the corner of the room. I was fine with Gwen not asking me to this thing, I didn't expect her to. I was fine with Mike spending this thing with Zoey, it's expected. Hell, I was even fine with Noah chilling with Owen and Izzy for crying out loud. But seriously, no one wants to even just say hi?
"Hey Cody," Gwen greeted quietly.
Well, I stand corrected.
"Listen, if you want to yell at me about that kiss, it's fine, I'm drunk. But I want you to know that I know you're not into me," I explained, only to be met with a slap.
Could that mean... no. Like she's ever gonna...
"Wrong. I'm into you, really into you," she said with a flirty grin. "I love you too."
She did! She really damn did! Woohoo!!!
We locked lips. It was the most amazing thing I had ever experienced. It was like I had become weightless, like all my troubles were gone; and in a way, they were. My loneliness, my horrible dating track record, my lack of a date for this prom, having not gained anything from this whole Total Drama series. There was only one problem left. Something not even Mike knows about.
And here it was to ruin the moment.
"No. Way. My nephew's actually found someone!" Chris McLean extaticly yelled.
Oh great.
"Really, uncle Chris? Way to ruin the moment," I groaned.
This was met with a tidal wave of surprised gasps from everyone in the room.
"Uncle Chris?" Gwen looked at me with an eyebrow raised.
That was the tamest response to the reveal, Noah's was probably the most insane.
"Uncle Chris?!" he yelled at me in shock. Then turning to Mike, assuming that he knew, which he didn't. "UNCLE CHRIS?!" he shrieked.
"I'm just as clueless as everyone else here, dude," Mike blankly said, eyes widened.
Everyone else shared Noah's type of reaction, only they all enacted it in unison.
"UNCLE CHRIS?!?!" they all shouted, leaving a ringing in my ears.
I can't do this. That's all folks. That's me done.
I tried to walk out while failing to hold back tears. I was stopped, however, by Gwen.
"You're not going anywhere, babe. This is prom," she smiled, hugging me. "Let me wipe away those tears and then we can dance."
I was, surprised, by the fact that my family tie with the cruel tv host hadn't ruined things with my new girlfriend.
"I'm hopeless dancer," I laughed as she rocked our bodies together. "You'll have to teach me."
"I'd be happy to," she grinned before we locked lips again.
