A/N: Okay, this is the un-revised chapter. Hope you like it. More definitely to come now that I had fun with this!
Chapter Two
Mamori forced herself to walk out of the school yard but as soon as she was on the street she began to run. Her heart pounded, her face flamed, and her skin burned. She felt like a match that had just been struck. His kiss lit her up and she was glowing from his attentions. She felt alive and FANTASTIC! and terrified. Oh, Kami... What had just happened? She'd seduced Hiruma. And it had worked! That was what surprised her even more than her own behavior. Hiruma was into it! He'd held her and kissed her and she'd started to come undone. She couldn't get over it! She couldn't think. She wanted to slow down and be swept away by memories and musings. She wanted to revel in it-her first kiss.
But she held back. She tried not to dwell on it too much. Anezaki Mamori was not that type of girl, was she? She knew she wasn't the type to kiss on a first date (or she would've already). And this wasn't even a date. This was so much worse. This was a moment of passion-No, admit it, Mamori-it was a moment of lust. Oh, kami, help her... Once upon a time she'd only thought of him as a bully. Then she'd accepted him and befriended him and he'd let her into his life a bit. She was the only girl she knew of who was so privileged to know him well. The really selfish part of her (that she liked to try to deny) liked that. Because she liked him.
Had she really been crazy enough to think she could help him undress without loosing control like she did? Yes, she'd been nervous about it. But she hadn't been shy about it. She'd basically forced herself on him! Mamori stopped walking and leaned against a building, panting, hiding her face from the people on the street. She felt like a complete hussy! But-said a small voice in her mind-the half-formed plan she'd enacted had worked. He didn't have to kiss her back. He wouldn't have if he thought of her in a sisterly way or as one of the guys. It was gratifying to find he was physically attracted to her. Veryphysically attracted to her, she remembered, unable to stop a fresh blush from infusing her face.
But it wasn't enough to know that. She breathed heavily and put her back against the wall, staring up. Making out with a friend was different than making out with a boyfriend. There was no security in it. Did he have any real feelings for her? What if he didn't want to officially date her? Would there even be another kiss? Those thoughts gave her pain and made her feel like even more of a tramp. She folded over again, fighting to breathe for different reasons.
It took Himura a long time to calm down in the school shower. Every time he thought he would forget some part of the intense experience he'd suddenly just had, some other part of the memory came to mind. The loudly rushing water couldn't stop, "Hot damn, Hiruma Youichi!" from ringing in his ears; or the vision of Anezaki Mamori's face in that moment-dazed, appreciative, glowing-from swimming before his eyes. She'd looked so beautiful and sexy and it had all been for him. The chilly water cut through his passion over and over, but it couldn't wash away that kiss! Who the heck would have thought his stupid manager capable of that kind of passion? He'd still be reeling from the shock of it if he wasn't still struggling with the evidenceof it. He couldn't help wishing she hadn't run off...
It was so easy to bring the memory to life again and it would be just as easy to imagine the rest. But no-no, he'd wanted her to run. Hiruma ran his hands through his hair and tugged it frustratedly. But that reminded him of her hands in his hair and his body twitched. He groaned slightly. It was a good thing she'd run. His self-control was riddled with holes by the time she'd kissed him. Any longer and he might've snapped. He knew he would've at least tried to undress hernext if she'd stayed. Not all the way just... He wasn't going to be the only one standing around half-clothed in a make-out session! He wondered if she would've let him do such a thing. Hours ago he never would've considered it or thought it possible. Now he felt desperate to try his luck.
This was crazy! This was Anezaki he was thinking about! The famous prude! And this shower was not working! With a disgusted sigh he turned the water off. He needed to think about something else now. Not the stupid manager with those tempting hands, that tempting mouth... all over his mouth... He needed to think about-clothes. Clothes! That gave him pause. How washe going to get these sopping clothes off now? And what would he wear instead? Ugh. He was an idiot...
Since he was entirely without dry clothes, Hiruma knew he would have to steal some. He was at the point of breaking into a gym locker when a teacher discovered him. Mr. Yamaguchi was already in his black book, and Hiruma didn't have to reference its contents to remind him of it. The evil smile that came onto Hiruma's face at that moment was a terror to behold.
"Just the man I need," he said, leering at his victim. "I'm going to need that extra suit from your office, professor."
Mr. Yamaguchi looked him over, then the shower, then him again-noting the cast on his arm this time and figuring that he'd been unable to get undressed for the shower. Though he didn't think to look for the rest of the missing uniform, the absence of which may've caused him to wonder further. He just shuddered at the smile on this student's face and walked back to his office to retrieve the required attire. He sighed as he took it off the hook. And shook his head over it. It wasn't a very expensive suit but he still objected to being forced to give it out. Why had he let this boy get his clutches in him? Hadn't he been warned? He'd underestimated things... Maybe he should've let him break into that locker. No, how terrible of him. He wasn't supposed to think like that! Where were the boys own clothes anyway and why couldn't he just go get them? He had resolved to suggest that instead by the time he reached Hiruma again. But then he happened to see the way the kid was pitifully struggling to even get undressed and he got an idea.
"I'll make you a deal, Hiruma-kun," he said sternly, though fearful sweat sprang up on his neck. "You won't be able to get into this suit yourself. So let me help you this once and we'll call it even. I won't tell anyone anything about this and you can just forget about that little bit of blackmail you have on me."
After a few minutes, Mamori noticed the stares of passersby and got a grip. The run had contributed to her excitement, kept her heart pounding and her temp up, but now she was recovered. Mostly. She stood up straight with her shoulders back and head up. She was going to try not to be ashamed of what had happened. The fact was, she'd wanted it to happen. Maybe not the way it happened. But she didn't regret the kiss itself. And as for Hiruma's feelings for her... She figured that he probably hadn't thought about her before. After all, he'd never made any moves... But he did seem to like her and like having her around. And he definitely liked kissing her. That gave her hope. She could still be satisfied if he hadn't wanted to date her before... as long as he was open to it now. It would possibly crush her if he wasn't, after all this. She fretted for several more minutes until she reached the bus station. At that point she finally realized she didn't have her backpack. What an idiot she was! She groaned and sat down to think.
Well, she had her cellphone with the pass on it, so she could still get home. And although she had homework, she wasn't very inclined to complete it today. But she knew that if it had been a normal day and she'd still forgotten her backpack, she would've gone back for it immediately. She was only reluctant because she didn't want to face Hiruma yet. And that was just silly... She didn't need to be soembarrassed about it. She could be mature enough not to avoid him... even if it meant facing him with a blush and a slight stammer. Although she desperately hoped it wouldn't be like that and tried to prepare herself.
She walked briskly, knowing that the school grounds would be closing soon. She'd already stayed after for football practice and now nearly an hour had elapsed since then! But she didn't run. When she finally did reach the clubhouse she stole up to it and cautiously opened the door to peek in.
Surprisingly, Hiruma took the deal. Or perhaps not so surprisingly. He liked making deals. He wouldn't have accepted it if the blackmail he had on this guy was really juicy. But in this case it balanced out. He still chafed at the thought of being helped by someone. But at least it wasn't a hot, distracting chick this time. And he had plans for that suit... With her, actually. So he semi-graciously accepted the help and then he beat it back to the clubhouse to retrieve his black book and scratch out the agreed upon blackmail.
He was completely unconscious of the fact that Mamori was there. Indeed, he hadn't even considered it a possibility. She was long gone by now, he assumed. But there she was in front of him. He froze with his eyebrows raised.
Mamori had frozen too, and she looked into his face like a deer in headlights.
"Um, ah..." she stammered, feeling like rambling on but not knowing what to say. She looked down and then quickly back up. "Had to come back for my backpack..." She held it out, making it obvious. Hiruma smirked slightly. She could've kicked herself. "That was silly, yes, obviously I came back for that..." She held back a nervous laugh. Time to leave, she began to think. But he was standing in the doorway... "What... er... What are you doing here?" she asked brightly, hugging her bag for comfort. Then she let it slip and held it just off the floor by the strap. She was looking him over. The typical Mamori steel came back into her voice suddenly. "What are you wearing? Mr. Yamaguchi's suit?"
Hiruma frowned and moved into the room. "That's a specific guess. What makes you think it's his?"
"It's his spare suit that's always hanging up in his office. I recognize it. Did you borrow it? Hiruma, you can't do things like that!"
He crossed his arms and matched her steel for steel. "And when have you been in his office?"
Mamori faltered. Not because of the question, but there was something about the way he asked it. She wasn't sure how to take his inflection and her puzzlement showed. Finally she brushed it and his question away with a shake of her head. Trying for a less temperamental tone, she rubbed her eyes and said, "Hiruma-kun, just please tell me you have permission to be wearing that?"
"That's easy enough, I do," he replied honestly, dropping his arms and circling her, looking at the floor.
Mamori raised her eyebrows. He does? How could that be? She couldn't imagine the teacher just agreeing to it and Hiruma was still in some ways so unscrupulous… He wasn't lying to her, but he might well be twisting the truth. She didn't want to accuse him any more though so she dropped it for the moment, though just maybe she'd have to talk to Mr. Yamaguchi about it tomorrow…
"What are you doing?" she asked, putting on her backpack.
He looked up at her from his slightly bent over position and slowly smiled at her. Mamori's breath caught as she watched him. He was beautiful with his hair all wet and wearing that fancy suit. Why was he looking at her like that? She shifted nervously. Then he began to track his eyes across the room and she followed his line of thoughts until the memories rose up in her own mind. Was he… thinking back on earlier? She blushed.
Hiruma was thinking back on earlier… but not just to reminisce, which would've been dangerous, though a glance at her expression nearly forced him to again. He went to the couch where he now remembered kicking his book. He looked under it and then all around it. Finally he began to look everywhere in the room, a curse breaking from his lips.
Mamori wilted slightly. He was just looking for something. That didn't bode well for her hopes… She pouted slightly. When he cursed she finally huffed. "Hiruma-kun, whatare you looking for? I'll help you."
He gave her another look. 'Like the last time you helped me?' he barelyrefrained from asking. "My book," he said instead, his eyes quickly leaving her face again.
"I thought you never let it out of your sight!" she exclaimed.
"I don't," he grunted, as he completely moved the couch away from the wall, with his body and his one good arm, not looking at her. "I was kind of… distracted…"
Mamori came over to help him look. "Oh, did I distract you that much?" she teased, smirking, though she really wanted him to admit it.
He didn't know how to answer that question. And now it was the book distracting him from her instead of the other way around. He wanted to find the damn thing, not have this conversation. He didn't know how to say that without ticking her off though. So he took a moment to look at her again. She wasn't looking back at first but then she did.
"You know you did," he said, wanting earnestly to kiss her again. She leaned forward instinctively but he turned his face. Now was not the time. That book contained very sensitive information on nearly everyone, including people he secretly cared about. He had many enemies and if their secrets got out despite their cooperation it would not only enrage them, he loose would his leverage over them. That would make them dangerous enemies indeed. And it might come back to bite not just him, but his friends also. Mamori, could be targeted. He suddenly turned to her with a fierce expression, actually gripping her arm. "We have to find this book. It's a danger to everyoneif I don't control it."
Mamori's eyes widened. Dangerous. Yes… she could how it could be. And he was so worried about it. His hand was trembling slightly. Perhaps worried enough about it, now that it was lost, to destroy it when he found it? She hoped.
But first to find it! She took his hand from her arm and held it strongly in both of hers. "Okay," she said simply, smiling. "We'll find it."
Hiruma calmed slightly. He gripped her hands back and nodded. This was a girl he always wanted on his side. He couldn't loose her over a stupid book.
